***QUESTION*** How would I go about updating to 10.7.3 from here? Both times I've tried to update, I end up bombing the whole system. It won't even load the boot volume after. I've tried through Software Update and I've tried through Combo Update. I would like to get Messages working now, any suggestions? And has anyone found anything out about iCloud? |
...
Guys...I was installing next using next utility and...
Repair Permissions for "/System/Library/Extensions/VoodooTSCSyncAMD.kext" ... Done. -- Total processed: 8 files (1 kexts) for 0 sec. Updating system caches MAC OS X "Lion"........... will that update of caches repair the xpchelper one? And...when i try to update from 10.7.2 throught software update... It shows that my system is up to date...is there a fix? |

tried with bunch of kernel flags then somehow booted with -x -v ncpi=0x3000 arch=i386, then rebooted with -v npci=0x3000 arch=i386, then boots. now some USB not working because I used Tonyman multibeast for lion after updating to 10.7.3 and used USB rollback. Would you mind telling me which custom IOUSBfamily you used? I would like to try that. I am try something to see if I can get iCloud to work.....will post later if succeed. |

***EDIT*** Here ya go: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?5n8bb1moaj0b4bn I think before I try to update again I'm gonna make a Carbon Copy Cloner full bootable backup in case I screw something up. That way I can pick up where I left off instead of trying to find the right combination of kexts and bootflags all over again lol ;) |

Don't know about the Software Update problem... :-/ |

Even if you have en0 </true>, ethernet device-prop, ethernetbuiltin. I think it's an underlying issue with the UUID not being passed to iCloud and iMessage that's not actually giving your device the authentication it needs to connect to the server. But I've not investigated the issue, but I've read countless posts online. Once I switched to Intel build, it worked automatically. Here's a topic about the issue: http://revogirl.wordpress.com/2012/0...n-in-problems/ |
Thanks for the info. I'm sure someone will figure out a workaround soon enough :)

What if Apple's iCloud reads the uname -v output???

I also notice Apple checks for the autheticity of Lion when setting up for the first time when wireless is connected and if your Apple ID has no record of purchasing Lion, it won't pass. At least that is what happened to me. So Apple is definitely doing something about Lion.dmg on torrents...I think. |
Has anyone tried to use the new Photo Booth yet? I have a Logitech HD Webcam that I've been using for Facetime and Photo Booth on SL with no problem. Still works on Lion, but the new Photo Booth effects don't seem to be working... does anyone know if this is related to the camera hardware? Or is this something that can be fixed? Thanks.

MotionFX on the AppStore is actually really cool and it still utilizes the facial recognition and everything too if u wanna check out the new capabilities ;) PS: I'm in love with fullscreen app switching, I don't know about the rest of you LOL :D |
Thanks for the tip! And is anyone here having trouble exiting full screen apps? Like sometimes it will make the whole system freeze when exiting them. :/ It also happens sometimes when I delete a desktop space from dashboard.

Do you mean exiting fullscreen mode? Or exiting the app while IN fullscreen mode? |

And BTW is there any ALC892 kext??? Cause VooDooHDA makes my audio fuzzy,AppleHDA is 64bit and HDAenablers doesnt work |
Good news
Update
Many people seem to have problems with iCloud – I know this thanks to the Google search statistics. Searches for setup and login issues are climbing steadily. Maybe it is time for me to start digging. A little deeper this time. Maybe. Maybe after I completed FileGuard. Ehm. We need Beta testers so… feel free to join us. That help me to finish it quicker. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth Looks like apple will HAVE TO change it... Maybe next update will be good... And what about iDevices? Mine for example is running with self compiled kernel... And iCloud works... What if they would fetch something from it and replace it with the one here? I know its crazy idea but i saw that it is almost identical... And i mean they could fetch just the check and f.e. Emulate iOS |

And BTW sry for 3 posts in a row... I didnt notice that |

BTW, I still have not been able to test replacing with legit UUID. What do you know? My graphics card went out. It won't boot when standing. only boots laid down. time for RMA. Got to hold off testing lion. dang...... |

As for audio, I haven't been able to get my onboard ALC887 working yet, but luckily I'm a recording engineer and I use a Tascam audio unit that has a sound card built in. I use official drivers for it and they work just fine. I'll let you know if I hear anything. |

like I said, my HD5770 is also having a problem, I'm gonna have to hold off testing as I am send the card out today for RMA. my on board video can't have QE/CI. so just going to use windows for now. once the card is back, I'm gonna start from scratch again. |
I was able to update to 10.7.4 pretty flawlessly. The only weird thing is that when I boot, it gives me a bunch of ?kxld? error notifications. It doesn't seem to affect anything, though. Lion works just the same as it did in 10.7.3. I updated by using the apple 10.7.4 combo update, and then replacing the mach_kernel and something like AppleFileSystemDriver.kext from 10.7.3? I'm at school right now but I'll check it to see what I did when I get home.
|
Is there a new kernel for 10.7.4?
|
easily updated to LION 10.7.4
I just need to replace (rollback) the AppleSMC.kext with the old one from 10.7.3 http://s18.postimage.org/6v0wab8uh/amd_1074_01.gif but I found these kinds of errors during booting in verbose mode: In interface com.apple.kpi.private of __kernel__, couldn't find symbol _buf_attr In interface com.apple.kpi.private of __kernel__, couldn't find symbol _bufattr_throttled http://s16.postimage.org/cl88libg5/amd_1074_02.png |
Maybe it has something to do with updating from 10.7.2 to 10.7.4 directly. I'm gonna download the 10.7.3 combo update and start there, cuz I've now bombed my install 3 times. Thank GOD for Carbon Copy Cloner (if you don't have it you should get it, it's free).
Has anyone updated from 10.7.2 to 10.7.4 yet? |
Quote:
Gonna try combo update AGAIN and replace just the AppleFileSystemDriver.kext and go from there. Thanks for all your help bro. |

I don't believe I have that kext installed even on 10.7.2, maybe that's my problem? I just rolled back the AppleFileSystemDriver.kext, mach_kernel & Finder.app, rebooted and I'm stuck at the same point.
Maybe I should install that kext? |

I would guess it just depends on some part of the caches beeing rebuild, wether your system will boot or not. Most likely using xnu-1699.26.8 will do the trick, but we will have to wait until Apple releases the source code, so we can recompile & try... |

Ok this is getting weird lol using that kext I'm gonna have to change SATA config in bios?? Every Hackintosh install I've ever had required me to turn on AHCI. So this is gonna be interesting lol and it will probably not let me boot into my SL without changing BIOS settings lol grrrrr
|
Well there are (have been) mainboards using the IDE interface for accessing devices and / or mainboards with chipsets that do not support AHCI.^^
Those controller that are not supported natively by OS X (AMD/ATI, SiS, VIA, nForce etc) of course need some extra kext driver. ;) When in AHCI mode your ATA controller has a different device ID then in IDE mode & that kext would not even getting loaded. ...forgot to mention; that kext should work for Snow Leopard as well... |
Yeah, haha, I didn't know that. I guess I'm one of the people with no AHCI SATA support then. It makes sense considering my computer is six years old. ^_^
|
Ok man. Gonna give this another shot before I restore again from my 10.7.2 backup and try to just update to 10.7.3, since all I really want is Messages. Will post results.
Thanks again guys, this thread has been really helpful. |
Okay I got it. I messed up my 10.7.4 install, so instead of restoring from my CarbonCopyCloner backup (yes, it is great:D) I decided to start fresh from iAtkos L2. The kext that you need to back up and replace is IOStorageFamily.kext. But anyways, I was able to successfully update from 10.7.2 to 10.7.4 so it's not impossible, just be sure to back up and replace that kext.
Here's the kext btw: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/79094064/IOS...amily.kext.zip |
I'm in! Had to install that IOStorageFamily.kext and then I had to boot up with safe mode (it said the drive was repaired during fsck in verbose boot) and now it's booting fine! Have to roll back my graphics driver to the custom kext for Radeon HD 5750 and that's it.
THANKS A TON BRO. ***EDIT*** I also have to boot with npci=0x2000 now didn't have to before |
is there any updated kernel that was released lately that has a broader support?
if there are any is there any supprt for amd phenom mobile cpus. |
After all this, are they seriously gonna tell me now that I can't register for Messages with my @me account???

I was using Facetime and MobileMe and whatnot on SL using a legacy_kernel, so hopefully someone figures this out too :( :( |
Oh well. For the time being, I'm content with what we've been given LOL
Thanks again to the bronzovka for the kernel ( although he hasn't said much since he said he was gonna stop working on the kernel :( ) and jeaton2012 thank you buddy for everything. Your troubleshooting has helped me out big time. http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/8595/desktopcs.png |
I've explained why it doesn't work, I don't see what you don't understand. You'll need someone who is good at configuring the kernel to authentic a correct UUID, and then maybe it'll work. Revogirl stated that the source they release isn't 100% the same source they compile and run at cupertino, so let's say it's a conspiracy.
Now there's a very risky method but if you install iMessage on intel hack or real mac and CCC the imessage.app and restore on the amd hack, then that might be a workaround but I've not tested or tried this. |
