Parallels 3 didn't work, too.
I've used this guide: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/in...llels_on_AMD64 After the double-click, Parallels crashes immediately. I'm using the Voodoo-Kernel on 10.5.6 |
Parallels 3 (or 4) for me needed to have the kernel be named mach_kernel running to use it so if you are using the voodoo kernel make sure you've also opened the Terminal and copy/rename the kernel since your update:
Code:
sudo -s as for your USB issues, is it just USB 2.0 functionality or all USB? can you start the system up in safe mode (-x) and use it? I am thinking the controllers are getting confused with other devices (but this could be wrong). If you are able to use USB in safe mode can you run "kextstat" in the Terminal and give me a printout of your results? |
Thanks for reply :)
I don't want to rename the Kernel. Which app do you prefer besides Parallels? Fusion? :-/ If I disable USB2 in BIOS, all USB devices run fine. I will start in safe mode, USB2 switched on. Next problem, VLC 0.8.6d, didn't work. It crashes after a clip starts. Tried to download VLC 0.9.8. After it is downloaded and Safari is mounting it, I get a KP. Tried it twice and always a KP :-/ Edit: First, I have to eat something ;) |

So, it takes a couple of minutes to boot in safe mode. In verbose mode I saw yellow marked lines:
Code:
Dec 23 19:53:18 localhost kernel[0]: Class "AppleEHCIedMemoryBlock" is duplicate Code:
Index Refs Address Size Wired Name (Version) <Linked Against> 1. Duplicate the Voodoo kext 2. Rename the Voodoo kernel to mach kernel 3. Replace the mach kernel to the renamed Voodoo kernel Is this correct? VLC: com.apple.security.seatbelt is loaded (in safe mode). Is this the right kext? This seatbelt.kext is from 2008-11-18 324kb ... something like that. For the USB2 fix, I will google FHT |
well now you've stumped me. the USB issue is something I'm going out of my realm on so I'll have to do a little more research with you on this.
as far as the kernel question goes... yes, that is basically what is going on. you could do the same in Finder by copying your mach_kernel.voodoo and pasting it to another folder where you can rename it, then drag it back to your root directory (after you've already deleted the original mach_kernel) Now you have to load the right kernel on startup. to test this first (without modifying your com.apple.Boot.plist file to direct you to a different kernel) simply use the boot flag "mach_kernel" along with any of the other boot flags you normally use. this will load the kernel specified and you should be able to test parallels and/or fusion with positive results. For me, I needed to delete the seatbelt kext (although everywhere else I've read tells me that I need to keep it). don't delete yours, first copy it to the desktop then delete the original in the Extensions folder. reboot and retry. place the backup of seatbelt somewhere you won't forget and if you ever need it just replace it and reset permissions. Remember, this is only a test with the seatbelt.kext because of my experience with it. (I had the same issue only it was with opening the Voodoo Kernel image) |
So nfoav8or :D
Good news ;) First, Parallels works. It doesn't always at the first try. But it works. Replaced seatbelt, VLC doesn't work. Moved it back, doesn't work. I always rebooted the system. Is there a new version of seatbelt? USB2 problem, it seems I found the solution: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.p...440&start=440# I'll give it a try :) |
nice USB2 news... sorry to hear the image issue is still giving you problems.
can you take a picture to upload of this KP? I think we can get a little further by seeing it. Also, is it happening with only the VLC image or all images? |
Do you have also a PCGenUSBEHCI.kext in your extension folder? If yes, can you send it to me? Also the seatbelt.kext?
I have still the PCGenUSBEHCI.kext faild to load error ... |
VLC now works correctly. I take the seatbelt from 10.5.5
VLC only plays a black screen. I think that's because of the intgrated Radeon HD3200 (only works in VESA mode. Mounting dmgs works, too. Firewire didn't work correctly USB2 still didn't work :( |
