Well, the OSx86 scene has caused me to spend a lot of money to buy me the real thing. So now I have:
- Apple Macbook Pro 15.3", Core2Duo 2.93GHz, nVidia 9400M + nVidia 9600M GT/512MB, 4GB DDR3/1066, 320GB/7200rpm - Apple 24" LED Cinema Screen - Apple Wireless Keyboard - Logitech V450 nano http://gallery.sport-touring.eu/3_Va...90508_1068.jpg http://gallery.sport-touring.eu/3_Va...90508_1069.jpg http://gallery.sport-touring.eu/3_Va...90508_1070.jpg http://gallery.sport-touring.eu/3_Va...90508_1071.jpg Attached to the screen, I have a 1TB WD USB harddisk that is split 50/50 for Time Machine and storage of pics and stuff and archives I don't need/want to fill up my internal disk. I also have a 1TB NAS I can access wherever I am in the house. I absolutely love this thing. It works so well, much better than the hack I have. And the screen is absolutely awesome. And I have to say, nothing works as intuitive as the multi-touch gestures on that big trackpad. Apple probably (or should) has a love/hate relation with the OSx86 scene as MS has with illegal software. Without the hackint0sh I would never have spend close to $4,000 on a new computer. But it was worth it. And no, I do not have a Dell. I just grabbed a mousepad from work years ago. :) |
@throttlemeister; very nice indeed :)
If you ever get fed up with that set up let me know ;) |
The only Mac I'd need is a Mac Mini G4 with 1.5 GHz and 64 MB VRAM - but only to run AmigaOS 4 on it! :D

@throttlemeister;
Serious monitor envy here!!! :-& :D I hope to get my own 24" Apple Display in the next couple of months. How are you finding the small wireless keyboard, do you not miss the number pad at all? |
This small keyboard reminds me on the Amiga 600 which has also a sized down keyboard than the normal Amigas:
http://www.old-computers.com/museum/...00_front_1.jpg http://www.amiga-hardware.com/downlo...1200_1_big.jpg There were some tools to emulate the number pad for the Amiga 600 because some apps used these keys for special functions. Maybe there's something for the Mac too. Oops: Do you recognize the keyboard layout of the Amiga 600? :D |

Nah, not gonna happen. ;) |

As for the keyboard, I find it very nice. I deliberately do got the one with the numeric pad, as I don't have a numeric pad when using the laptop by itself either. I find it is ok to be without, as long as you are consistent. If you are not, you will find it very lacking. naquaada: the scarey AZERTY keyboard the Belgians and French use you mean? Completely impossible to type on! |
