My system is absolute stable now. No crashes since yesterday, no jumping mouse and no scratching audio. lanxxx, you've solved all my problems. Now my system is perfect. Thanks again!!

Cool glad I could help. If I were you, I would run it again whenever you install anything new.

i have some similar issues (safari and other apps crashing) and some more:

- USB problems
- scratchy alert sounds
- time machine doesnt work

i tried marvins but i am not sure if i did it right. i choosed "create a patcher package" and selected the system volume. then i ran the application. i got following log:

Ah at last someone else with the same issue as me - I have scratchy alert sounds too, its been driving me nuts trying to find a solution!! I think it's also related to Quicktime quitting on me, if i disable the sound driver Quicktime runs fine.

I've got a Realtek ALC850. What sound card do you have? I'm trying to find a different driver that works. Apparently the Azalia driver from the Jas 10.4.8 dvd supports the ALC850 but i can't find it anywhere :(

First, when i wanted to try out the sound i recognized those scrytchy alert sounds - so i looked around and tried different kexts.
Then i found out that - even with the original kexts - sound works fine (itunes, alerts from third party apps, even from mail). Only the original alert sounds make that noisy sound - if they are played by the system.

All kexts which i tried didnt solve the problem.

i tried the Azalia drivers from 10.4.9 Uphuck too - they worked fine when i was running that system. But dont work now with leopard.

You've only done half a job

copy patches folder including patcher and cpuid.txt to root of your drive
boot -s
mount -uw /
cd /patches
./patcher cpuid.txt

lanxxx, thank you for the instructions. I will try it out as soon as i have installed leopard again. For now, i switched back to tiger, because i have the feeling that some of the problems which appeared have nothing to to with installing leo on pc - i guess those safari crashes etc. are a leopard specific problem in general. i found a lot of topics in forums where people had problems with leopard (people who own a mac...).

by the way: those problems confuse me a little bit: i was thinking about getting a mac this year and now i am not more sure if osx is really that stable like i thought before... well, maybe wait for 10.5.3 and hope the best ...

To be honest there seems to be one or two bugs, as you would expect with any new operating system, but we're not talking the scale of a microsoft new update.
The only bug I can find that I can put down to Apple is that I can't turn off the screen saver. I think that's about it.
Safari doesnt crash. Firefox does but not very often. But that seems to be a well known fact.
Though I must admit I don't think leopard is yet as stable as Tiger, and yes bugs are being ironed out all the time. I'm sure the amd community and Zeph will have much improved the next DVD release even if it doesnt have new apple updates
