Yeah, I'll be uploading the beta ISO tonight. And btw I've been promoted from Premium Member to OSx86 Developer. What does that mean?

nfoav8or 10-17-2008 01:07 AM

Simply put... you now have created your own version of OSx86. (I guess)

I don't know exactly since I don't have anything to do with grouping or classifications.

EDIT: Where are you planning to host? green monster or the network? Figured I'd help seed for a while.

bigjim 10-17-2008 01:58 AM

i'm also interested in where you'll be uploading it i added a request to be a tester on insanelymac

phreakazoidz 10-17-2008 02:39 AM

Great Work PCWiz!

so many distro to try!! For my RIg!

Thanks!

pcwiz 10-17-2008 02:44 AM

Thanks everyone for the interest :) I'll get to all the beta testers late tomorrow. I'm setting this to upload overnight. Its not going to be a torrent or on newsgroup. I made a highly compressed RAR split into 100MB parts and am uploading it to MEDIAFIRE (no download limits). Don't have the bandwith and time for a torrent especially since I will lose internet over the weekend and won't be on until they reconnect it.

bajanboy 10-17-2008 07:51 PM

Hi PCWIZ,

I really like your work and is very excited about this release and would like to beta test it on my new acer 6920G laptop. Please let me know how I can a copy fast :-)

Thanks again

pcwiz 10-17-2008 10:39 PM

*sigh* I had everything uploaded to sendspace.com and ready and then horror struck. I encountered some problems with my beta ISO. Upon further inspection of the ISO I discovered the most of the packages were missing or corrupted. I've fixed it and now I'm creating a new ISO. I now have 2 options:

1) Rerar and reupload the ISO (may delay beta by 2 days)
2) Make a PPF to patch the original uploaded ISO (will waste bandwith)

I most likely will go with the second option if the PPF is an acceptable size, but if the PPF ends up being more than 400MB or so then I have no choice but to redo it. Like I said at worst it will be delayed by 2 days or so. I sincerely apologize but this is my first attempt with an ISO and sometimes things do go wrong ;) And yes I realize that I've stalled this for some time now :P But I don't drop out on promises and THIS WILL BE REALITY!!!

FirstHackTosh 10-17-2008 11:21 PM

I'm for option one, anyway

bigjim 10-18-2008 02:50 AM

do what you need to, to get your job done

zypheruk 10-18-2008 10:50 AM

No big rush rather have a proper release anytime, and thanks for all the work you have done, well appreciated.

naquaada 10-18-2008 10:14 PM

@pcwiz:

To the X1600 package: I don't see a difference between the NatitX1600 (from you) and ATIinject drivers, only that Natit recognizes my card as X1600 Pro, ATIinject as X1650. But this is an ATI renaming issue. Natit is 3 days newer than ATIinject, but the graphics drivers you gave me are older and have a lower version number.

The same is for the 0x71c2 ID package: The drivers are much older. I don't think they will work with 10.5.5.

Do you want to have my drivers? At least they are newer.

Thanks for your work.
If it helps, I am building all my iso images with Toast 9, creating a disk image and changing .toast extension to .iso

Thanks buddy.

Has my audio driver support ( =p)

Xenophage 10-31-2008 02:15 PM

Indeed - I'm delaying my hardware build for this. You're doing everyone a great service, and are to be congratulated.

Here's an idea for the future - what if, instead of a huge, arcane list of drivers, you were to enlist the help of the various people who've put together hardware support databases, and made the install options break down by motherboard? That way, a user could just tick one checkbox for his mobo, and get all the patches and kexts known to be needed to make it work. AFAIK, no OSx86 distro does this. It could be major. Yours could be not only the most vanilla, with the broadest support, but also the easiest to use, and hence the most Apple-like.

Just a thought.

Please add in this audio driver, if possible:

This person is creating a driver for envy24 (nonHT) as well. Thank you! :)

10.5.5

Is there any update as to the release of iPC OSx86 Intel/Amd SSE2 SSE3? it seems to have gone very quiet here.

nfoav8or 11-14-2008 09:10 PM

I think is waiting on the release of the new voodoo kernel... but that would make it obsolete because after that kernel comes out, people can just use their modified retail disc.

XPS M1210 Drivers

Here are the drivers I used to make my XPS M1210 works almost perfectly on Leopard 10.5.5:
http://www.filesavr.com/xpsm1210drivers

I included a readme file that explain the content of each folder.
I want to add that the combo update only worked using the Pre and Post update patches.

I still having mouse tearing/artifacts and the internal Wireless and Sound card still non functional.

Computer (laptop): XPS M1210
Bios: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS version 1.101 A04
Memory: 1014mbRAM | Procesor: Intel® Core™2 CPU T5600 1.83GHz
Video: Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family
V-Memory: 224mb
Sound: SigmaTel Audio
Network: Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945AGB Network Connection

Sound: online and working 100% (with audio-usb adapter "C-Media USB Headphone set")
Wireless: Online (external usb adapter)
iATKOSv2 Leopard: running at 99.9%

snarf31 12-07-2008 06:31 PM

Hi,

Can I be a tester also?

Any update on when this will be ready, and where to download it from?

Cheers

FirstHackTosh 12-07-2008 10:32 PM

pcwiz, I hope you're waiting for 10.5.6 for a final release. And will this release cool & quite kext?

malayzn 12-08-2008 07:10 AM

looks similiar to ideneb to me haha

FirstHackTosh 12-09-2008 10:28 PM

I don't think iPC will be that bad ;-)

Kabooka 12-12-2008 02:23 AM

looks like a good compilation to me , dont forget to add support for latest nVidia 9xxx series cards over here, i have to use an external driver to get my stuff working , it would be good to be able to install my gfx card & audio from the disk itself.

Also a request , kindly do not change the About this mac, default backgroud & logon like iDeneb . Doing this takes away the STOCK look of your distro.

Best of luck with the upcoming release :)

ANTC 12-15-2008 08:03 PM

looks liek a great installer will this include 10.5.6 and when should we expect this to be released?

pcwiz 12-22-2008 09:26 PM

DVD has been updated to 10.5.6, ton of new stuff added. Public beta in 2 days:

I had this idea when talking to ~pcwiz about it, the problem is that we'd need to create packages for every motherboard, which is tons of combinations of drivers and kernels and all kinds of stuff. This takes up a lot of space on the DVD, as you have to include all the stuff in the packages. Keeping it int he "arcane" way is the best, as you only need one copy of each driver or patch, and you can still apply the ones for your specific motherboard.

Also, there is already a app that does this, written by ~pcwiz as well.

Just to add a little on here... People shouldn't just blindly install OS X without going and doing a little system research. Putting packages together would lead to the idea that they don't have to know anything more than their motherboard model... this just isn't the way to go.

but yes, the space issue is the biggest.

Hey i'm having some trouble with the beta install and looking to get some help.

my system is a ASUS AN8-E, AMD Athlon 64 3200, ATI x1600 2.5GB of ram.

Now what i'm i know what option to pick for the most part but I'm wondering what APPLESMBIOS and DSDT I should pick as well because seem to be getting failed to load extension com.apple.driver .AppleACPIPCI on boot after install

nfoav8or 01-04-2009 05:45 AM

if you know the speed of your RAM select the SMBIOS speed from this or just use the AppleSMBIOSEnabler and a standard SMBIOS file. Don't include the DSDT patch since you don't need this in 10.5.6... just in the beta update (and that doesn't apply to you in this case).

keepfrosty 01-05-2009 07:07 AM

ok thanx i'll try that

audiophile_user 01-09-2009 10:57 AM
