Something like this? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c00404367&cc=us&dlc=en&lc= en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

The ATI Xpress 200 maybe a problem. Especcially the Xpress 200M chipsets for notebooks is problematic. The harddisk is slow, Audio isn't working on some laptops and you have no CoreImage/Quartz Graphics, what is the biggest problem. Here's a link in insanelymac:

DoiX 01-11-2008 05:33 PM

i managed to resolve that problem with Katana not Callisto, katana requires after install editing, the post install script doesn't do nothing, at least for me

107FX, what exactly is your problem?

gio on the mic 01-11-2008 09:54 PM

hi there!
new to this place...
i'm on an asus notebook z53t with amd turion 64 x2 which sports the nVidia MCP51 controller.
to zephyroth:
thanks a lot for your work!
i tried rev 1 but i couldn't install to hd because of the MCP51 which had serious problem (in tiger too) with the old AppleNForceATA.kext.
i also tried install via vmware like i did with tiger but it stop with code signing error...

i've been testing the new AppleNForceATA.kext by medevil (which you can find here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77071 ) and i can say that it works pretty good even on my MCP51.
so i'm asking you PLEASE, PLEASE include this kext in rev 2.
let me know if you plan to do it, or you if can point me to a ppf including this kext to apply to rev 1 iso.

thanks a lot.

zephyroth 01-11-2008 10:06 PM

For the 1000ths time, it's already included in Rev.2 ...

:-)

But thanks ! At least you told me what works on your system !

gio on the mic 01-11-2008 10:24 PM

sorry if i asked that, it's not always easy to find things already answered, especially in really long threads. can't wait! :-)

if you need my help for testing i'll be glad to do it.

ciao

X-tra 01-11-2008 10:49 PM

@Zephyroth
Well here are the specs if u are still interested:

Asus M2NBP-VM CSM (NForce 430B Micro ATX mobo) with SoundMax ADI AD1986A onboard soundcard and Marvell Yukon onboard
Phenom X4 Quad GP9600 Black Edition
Ati Radeon 2600XT
To test it I will be using a Maxtor Diamond Max 21 160GB S-ATA HardDrive

zephyroth 01-11-2008 10:53 PM

Yep but the administrator of the FTP is gone in vacation ... We need to create a new one.

zephyroth 01-11-2008 11:08 PM

ok

naquaada 01-11-2008 11:48 PM

@ zephyroth:

If it's so problematic to find answers then start a new thread which shows the new features of RC2 only. This would be easier for us and less annoying to you to say everything again and again. But the users (to define: we) must understand that this is a developer's thread only, no posts, questions or anything else from others. It's the only way to keep a short overview of the changes and new features.

Puttabong 01-11-2008 11:53 PM

@naquaada: I changed this to a Discussion Thread about Rev.2,

Zephyroth, thank you for including ATI 38XX support in revision 2. I have not been able to test your release because I experienced the bootloader issue. When you release revision 2, I will let you know how everything works (including my 3870). I really appreciate your work, thanks =)

1207FX 01-12-2008 01:30 PM

DoiX:

I install fine it seems(single OS Mac only on IDE) on reboot it has "system config file com.apple.boot.plist not found" I have read that some think it is a bad burn to dvd, or the file itself is bad? twice downloaded and 4 burns with same result. maybe I will have more luck with Rev.2

Thanks again for any help with 1st release and Rev.2 as well!

roisoft 01-12-2008 05:24 PM

@1207FX What kind of partition scheme have you selected, GUID or MBR?,

blood_brother 01-12-2008 06:35 PM

My report about Rev.2 Installation:

I'm testing Rev.2 in my notebook:
CPU: AMD Mobile Sempron 3400+ (SSE3, 64bit)
VGA: Nvidia GeForce Go 6150
Chipset: Nforce MCP51
HD: Fujitsu SATA 40GB
LAN: Nvidia
Wireless: Broadcom

Installation goes fine with some combination.
But, after install, when I try to boot with grub I get the message: Invalid or unsupported executable format.
Someone have an idea on how to correct this problem?

Well, I made something, downloaded netkas pc efi v8 (I have to use some special for amd???) put on grub as kernel, so I get boot on Leo, but, I get message from Nforce Sata driver, something like:
AppleNforceAta: scan 1 disks found
(... other system messages ...)
Until here is ok, but for some reason Leo tries to load again and I receive this:

AppleNforceAta: scan 0 disks found
AppleNforceAta: sata phy reset failed

And...
Still waits for root device.

Someone can help me?

Maybe it could be because on installation I choose to install the newest kernel???

IDE HDD secondary (primary - WinXP), EFI MBR, all ATI.kext with original DVD + Natit.kext (two displays in the same way work), nVIDIA nForce4 completely works (LAN, audio), NTFS3G for Windows NTFS read-write.

With impatience I wait rev. 2!

Forgive my bad english...

graebags 01-12-2008 08:00 PM

Hi Zeph and testers,

any chance that AC'97 digital output will work with Rev.2, mine is ALC850 chipset. If not, can this be considered for a later update please.

1207FX 01-13-2008 01:39 AM

roisoft: or anyone with ideas

I used all three mac/mbr/guid many tries on install lol actually kind of fun trying all these installs. checked and unchecked Nvidia drviers, same result. I havent got far enough to be able in install kext so your guess is better than mine.

Of course like any other member, would be pleased to test Rev2 also

DoiX 01-13-2008 06:03 AM

hello members, rev 2(beta) has given me a heart attack :( i installed it 15 times and still don't know what's the problem... i managed to make it work only one time, but i had to reinstall it again to be sure it works ~X( and it doesn't :((. i'm still trying to figure what the @#$% rev2 doesn't like on my system I'M NOT GIVING uP

roisoft 01-13-2008 06:54 AM

@ 1207FX

Try this (if you want, of course) copy the file to pendrive formated in FAT labeled "EFI"

boot into install dvd and open disk utility and format the HD and choice the GUID scheme, close the disk utility, plug the pendrive, open a terminal and type this:

diskutil list

take note of hd number (diskX, X=device number) (e.g. if it disk1 - then X = 1 (X will be used later)

cd /volumes/efi/pc_efi_v80

umount -f /dev/diskXsY (X=hd Y=partition)

./startupfiletool /dev/rdiskXsY ./boot_v8

dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1

dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1

your guid drive should be ready for booting now, close the terminal and follow with the install.

1207FX 01-13-2008 07:10 AM

Thank you Roisoft

I shall try it. no pen drive, BUT I have usb HD......... will let you know how it goes:)

after a few tries at installing with the USB HD no luck. (sysytem config file "/com.aple.boot.plist" not found) may have to go buy a flash drive anyway

braindead803 01-13-2008 06:35 PM

can't wait for revision 2. i still haven't gotten the first one to work on my amd laptop sadly, i been trying day in and day out to get it to work but i constantly have problems when adding the IONetworkingFamily.kext(don't think this is the problem) and the AppleACPIPlatform.kext(this one gives me the problem). so as for now i'm trying to get the JaS release of 10.4.8 to work and i am downloading the tubgirl 10.4.9 release to work. i have had no luck with any AMD release yet. and my computer is only 2 months old. sad huh. whatever though.

crawle 01-13-2008 06:38 PM

Hey zeph,
I'm looking forward to Rev. 2 and I have a little question about it:
I've got a kernel panic, something like this: Panic (cpu 0 caller 0x0036DAC7):"Process 1 exec of /sbin/launchd failed, errno 88\n"@/volumes/disk1s2/leo_xnu-1228/bsd/kern/kern_exec.c:2884
(see here: http://osx.kbot.de/comments.php?DiscussionID=19&page=2#Item_46)
May it work with Rev 2?
Thanks a lot for this wonderful work and this forum. I like you, guys ;-)

Can anyone tell me if this release will recognise my ata and sata hdd without any problems?

crawle 01-13-2008 08:19 PM

Hey Skyper. I don't know really, what your problem is, but try following:
- plug the DVD-Rom and the HDD about one cable into the IDE or SATA port
- set the HDD to Master (by setting the jumper on your HDD) and the DVD-Rom to Slave (by setting the jumper in the middle section of the pins)

Now check in your Bios, if the devices can be detected to Master and Slave and try again. I had a similiar problem and it worked with this way. Check this thread out:
http://osx.kbot.de/comments.php?DiscussionID=19&page=2

Skyper 01-13-2008 08:26 PM

@crawle
Thanks for you reply but i dont want to open my computer specially for this. All i wanted to know is if it will be detected in rev2 without the need to mess around with the HDD and opening the whole comp.

1207FX 01-13-2008 08:51 PM

@skyper
I guess it could be intimidating to someone who hasn't opened the side up on your PC, but it is very simple. You should see my Machine........lol have 3 drives hanging out the side onto the desk trying different methods of install. However if your running a PC with factory warranty, then I could understand. I too am hoping Rev2 eases my pain :)

Puttabong 01-13-2008 09:09 PM

1207FX: Same scenario for me here when testing betas on several HDDs with one Machine, and I love it :)

crawle 01-13-2008 09:18 PM

My HDD slides up and down in my pc, 'cause I had to bring it one track up (cable to short) and there are no fitting holes for fixing the HDD. ;-)

Puttabong 01-13-2008 09:22 PM

@crawle: Not good! Your HDD really shouldn't slide, make sure that it has a rock solid position and doesn't move!

crawle 01-13-2008 11:33 PM

Oh, alright. I'll fix it ... however ... Thanks

Puttabong, I have an Asus K8V SE Deluxe that I can install tiger on with ease, however Zeph's ver 1 won't install. I've tried everything and have been trying for about a month.

I would really love to test rev 2 for all the people with K8t800/VT8237 Chipsets that can't even get to the installer. Please let me know.

I have removed your posts on Beta Test Reports in order to keep the thread clear.
For discussing about it, I prefer to stay here.

Any possibility of running Leopard ( like u :) ) on this laptop

I tried the JaS DVD release for 10.4 on this but could'nt able to run as i have Sata HDD
& no option in BIOS to make it IDE :(

Please let me know if there is any possibility of getting it even via VMWare

Here is my Sys details :

AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50
memory : 1 GB DDR2 memory
Hard disk controller : SATA Hard Disk Drive
Optical drive type : Super Multi DVD Writer (+/-R +/-RW) with Double Layer support
Network interface : Ethernet 10/100BT integrated network interface
Wireless technologies : broadcomm 802.11 a/b/g WLAN
Video adapter : NVIDIAŪ GeForce™ Go 6150 (Up to 128 MB shared video memory)

Puttabong 01-14-2008 10:22 PM

Hi prateesh,

I guess your setup could work, the only thing that I'm not sure about is your video card/adapter.

However, if the Tiger JaS DVD didn't work, then I'm not sure if Leopard could do the job.

You can try it though!

I personally suggest that you wait a few days, until Revision 2 of the DVDs is released by zephyroth.

You can also consider trying Rev.1 until then, but you will have to manually fix the bootloader and some other issues.

Kind Regards, Puttabong @ this System -> http://www.imagehut.eu/images/1088Bild%202.png
