Hi there,

just to be sure ..will rev2 have SSE2-Support ?

Everybody seems to know about the FTP ... can anyone give me an account ?

Thanxx,

steffx

bonkey 01-23-2008 11:55 PM

Steffx,

I'm sorry but the FTP is private (cause it is at my house) so i can't give you access.

The final version will be released as a public torrent. (i guess)

zephyroth 01-24-2008 12:07 AM

steffx,

EFI is not an alternative to MBR or GUID.

EFI is the "BIOS" of Mac.

On Hackintosh it's just a software which is installed on the boot sector and allow you to use stock kernel + stock kexts on Intel (almost the original Leo) and on AMD only original kexts (but a better stability).

It's hard for me to explain that precisely because as you know my English is not as good AS I would wish it (ouch don't know if it's English ...)

:-)

BTW, i'm uploading it from Mac OS that means i've managed to fix that damn upload freeze.
Don't know why but unload and reload forcedeth.kext at boot fix it.

pαuℓzurrr. 01-24-2008 01:27 AM

When it's uploaded to Bonkey's FTP will it shortly be on the bay? Or is this just so other beta testers can download it.

Thnx :)

DoiX 01-24-2008 01:29 AM

its still for beta testers :) , when rev2 will be finished it would probably be on a public torrent site..

steffx 01-24-2008 01:41 AM

ähhmmm .... thanks for your answer ... wasn't my question ..anyway :-)
will rev2 have support for sse2-systems (rev1 is not working on my system as it is sse2) ?

steffx

Puttabong 01-24-2008 01:44 AM

RC1 has no Support for SSE2, because there is no SSE2 Kernel included.
There are tutorials about how to replace the sse3 kernel with the sse2 one, and then one has to reburn the DVD.

I don't clearly know about RC2 and SSE2, please wait for zephyroth // edit: or DoiX : ) - to answer :D

DoiX 01-24-2008 01:45 AM

yes, rev2 will have sse2 kernel support :)

naquaada 01-24-2008 02:39 AM

how about AGP? The attempt with RC1 was a bit... weird. I used ToH 9.0 Kernel which has SSE2 support. The OS was loaded, but I only got a blue screen with mouse cursor, and if I moded it in the lower right corner (I have Exposé there) there always came a bang out of the speakers ;)

this i don't know :)

naquaada 01-24-2008 02:58 AM

Has anyone else tried AGP with Leopard, no care about RC1 or RC2? I know that I'm not the only one out here... (snief)

Dragoon 01-24-2008 04:39 AM

Hi Zephyroth
How about Russian language interface in Rev.2?

zephyroth 01-24-2008 05:16 AM

All languages packages are on the Rev.2 DVD.

creative_ 01-24-2008 05:26 AM

braindead803 01-24-2008 10:28 AM

no wireless internet (broadcom): Broadcom Wireless Network Driver version: 4.102.15.61

i need to find the kext files

DoiX 01-24-2008 02:09 PM

i saw the kext files for broadcom on insanelymac.....for soud search azazalia or something like this :))

braindead803 01-24-2008 04:44 PM

JaS 10.4.8 came with a sigmatel driver im gonna boot and see if i can add it in

zephyroth 01-24-2008 04:53 PM

if it works, please upload the kext on rapidshare. I'll add it to Rev.2.

Lion1985 01-24-2008 07:52 PM

zephyroth i got a question, plz dont ban me if i ask u here :)

When do u release it on public ?

bonkey 01-24-2008 09:17 PM

Posting from Rev2. RC2.

The install went spotless, really no problems at all (but then again, the RC1 went spotless as well)
All hardware has been detected properly (except my audio, but that a personal thing and will never work as there is no kext for it)

System runs much faster then the RC1 build, multiple downloads / uploads works like a charm and so is running multiple application at the same time at full capacity.

will stress my system some more after work hours :)

peace out, bonkey

Puttabong 01-24-2008 09:44 PM

Added it to my Images. :)
Took less than 1 hour to have it shipped.

Thanks Zephyroth, Thanks Bonkey.

bonkey 01-24-2008 09:51 PM

Puttabong, how did you make your folder look like that?

Puttabong 01-24-2008 09:58 PM

Bonkey :D

You have to right click the Finder Window which you'd like to modify,
then open the Finder Display Options:

http://talkmacbookair.com/licht/rightclick.png

Then feel free to customize, for example add a background Image:

http://talkmacbookair.com/licht/findercustomize.png

Use CandyBar to modify the Icons. :)

Greetings,
Puttabong

bonkey 01-24-2008 10:22 PM

nice :), i like it.

Just ordered an USB Sound Card, hope it will work :P

Puttabong 01-24-2008 10:32 PM

I have AC97 Soundchip onboard. It works out of the Box on Rev.1, without the need of any additional kext(s)! :D

Good Luck with yours, Bonkey! :)

Lion1985 01-24-2008 11:12 PM

guys where did u get the rev.2 ?

pαuℓzurrr. 01-24-2008 11:33 PM

For now it's only available for beta tester's, we'll need to wait for the public release :)

Lion1985 01-24-2008 11:38 PM

ok all righ thx :)

Puttabong 01-25-2008 12:39 AM

Just installed RC2 on another HDD.
The Installer boots very quickly - and this is truly an Out of the Box-Experience for my setup!,
even my brcm43xx wireless card is detected in the Installer, so I could play with the Network Utility.

Booted up the System for the first Time: EFI, Working Graphic Card, Internet...
shortly said: everything is working perfectly!

Adorable.

DoiX 01-25-2008 12:59 AM

puttabong how many parts are uploaded on the ftp server? zeph said that rc2 has 66 parts but on the ftp there are only 60

Puttabong 01-25-2008 01:48 AM

Ok, the test of RC2 convinced me. I'll soon backup all my data, and then format my SA-TA Disk to use it for RC2.

The performance is stunning, and I love to be able to install out of the box :D

@DoiX: There are 66 parts on the FTP!

naquaada 01-25-2008 01:58 AM

oh boy... backuping data and creating a new system :-P
I have a lot of machines here and I'm still working on an SSE2/AGP system 'cause I'm too lame to port the system. (smashing head against wall)

DoiX 01-25-2008 02:10 AM

damn on windows my ftp client shows only 52 parts on osx 60 parts arghhhhh i hate it

roisoft 01-25-2008 02:17 AM

Hi!

You can add this file to rev 2, with this file the system profiler shows all the information of the CPU.

For change the name "hackintosh" you must change the applesmbios from efi.

copy the file to system/library/systemprofiler.

My second AMD system.:D

zephyroth 01-25-2008 02:21 AM

Ok I will add it ! But AppleSMBios is already the one from EFI .

eard 01-25-2008 02:24 AM

wo wo wo it looks like soon we can download the rev2
hope that finally i could have mac osx runing on my lap
go go zeph! =)
good job

naquaada 01-25-2008 02:33 AM

@ roisoft:

Yes, I did this already in Tiger. But couldn't be a standard somedays? What's the default text?

Another thing: what's all this time about EFI. But why is everyone reinstalling it and so on? There was no EFI hype during Tiger was actual. If everyone has to reinstall EFI, does Leopard RC1 is running without it? And how about the different System Profilers. The one from Puttabong with RC2 beta looks like on my Leopard RC1 system, yours (roisoft) shows all the CPU information like on my Tiger 10.4.7 system. Has this something to do with EFI?

This was my 200st attempt to waste more web space ;)

roisoft 01-25-2008 02:34 AM

if you want change the "hackintosh" from system profiler use this applesmbios

roisoft 01-25-2008 02:41 AM

I don´t have rev2, I am not a betatester.... I was rejected,..is a joke :-)

zephyroth 01-25-2008 03:07 AM

For those who already test Rev.2, did you burn it ? Or restore on a spare partition ?

bonkey 01-25-2008 03:12 AM

Zeph,

I've burned it.. no problems, neither with the install.. nor with any post-install programs. (ps that Onix stuff is great!)

ps. zeph, check your pm at wiki. need to ask you something.

Puttabong 01-25-2008 03:13 AM

Zephyroth: I burned it.

DoiX 01-25-2008 03:27 AM

ok i finally got rc2 (darn windows) now i'm going to install it :) wish me luck :)

Puttabong 01-25-2008 03:31 AM

Have fun DoiX :)

naquaada 01-25-2008 03:33 AM

:( wanna have too!

bonkey 01-25-2008 03:37 AM
