I went out and bought a new drive in order to try installing snow leopard. Everything went fine, except when I reboot and I get the exact message as someone posted below

" "mis-match between kernel and cpu pm". This distro needs the null cpu management kext' ? anyone has any suggestion as to fix this? I will try to install ideneb 10.5.8 and see if that works. However I dont want to have 10 distros, I would like to simply install snow leopard, so I'm open to suggestions.

mr.s4ndm4n 02-11-2010 04:44 AM

I'm just curious, would it be to long of a list to post if someone were to post a list of most of the best hardware to use for this distro?? I'm pretty new to this, but i'm also pretty desperate to get this distro running on my amd-based PC. So desperate in fact, that i would buy some new hardware to get this working.

I don't know, im just curious about this....

snakeo2 02-11-2010 05:49 AM

Look at my specs which I listed somewhere on this thread. I was able to install snow leopard client server 10.6.2 by hazard, but now im having problems registering the damn thing. After searching, I found that some people suggest booting in 32bit mode in order to register, but I'm not quite sure how to boot in 32 bit as everytime I restart, it automatically boots and I dont see the option to press f8 as I did when i was booting off the dvd. Any suggestions?

snakeo2 02-11-2010 06:06 AM

can anyone provide a valid serial number for snow leopard server 10.6.2? the one i tried using is not working:

XSVR-106-000-R-LN2-VLQ-PRW-H6C-44L-XH2-P

stereomac23 02-11-2010 07:07 AM

to boot into 32 bit mode try holding down 3 and 2 while booting.

snakeo2 02-11-2010 03:03 PM

I tried your suggestion but it didnt work. I simply pressed the 3 & 2 together and powered on the computer but didnt work. If it doesnt work, I think I'll do the install again, excpet this time I wont install the server

If you dont select the server option in the hazard customisation you wont be asked for a serial number, i wasnt. Not needed for a client install.

If you find a resolution to the mismatch please post it. i am stuck in the same place.

snakeo2 02-11-2010 05:14 PM

Thanks for the suggestion, I was aware of that, but wanted to install the server distro. If I cant find a fix, I may just reinstall the client only. So are you able to get to the registration screen? Prior to installation, these are the options I selected, which I found on leohazard website:

Snow_Leopard_Server_10.6.2
AnV_10.2.0_Kernel
Chamelon_RC3_PCEFI_10.5
AMD_Patch
NVEnabler
VoodooHDA_v2.5.3
ATIATA
Realtek_8169
ElliotForceLegacyRTC
IOATAFamily_Fix
OpenHaltRestart

this thread was helpful. Good luck.

For those following, I did a reinstall this time without selecting snow leopard server and everything seemed to have gone ok. My network is working, "about this mac" is working and recognizes my amd cuad core and my 4gb ram, etc. I just tried to restart and it froze, so not sure what I did wrong. I will keep testing to see the how stable the OS is on my hardware and report back. Good luck

Did you change your BIOS settings to "AHCI"? Maybe try booting with the following flags busratio=20 cpus=1. If that doesnt work, I would probably look at the HCL and see where you fit with your hardware. After further testing, my sata dvd drive is not recognized, my audio doesnt work, shutdown & restart dont work , and I'm only allowed to select one screensaver. For now, I would be happy with fixing reboot, shutdown & audio. Any suggestions are welcome.

mr.s4ndm4n 02-12-2010 03:54 PM

I have a Foxconn A7GM-S mobo, which is an AMD mobo w/ 780G chipset and SB700 southbridge. Does any know what kexts i would need for that chipset in order to run the Hazzard distro??

Thanks in advance!

ahci enabled, all thermal functions disabled... still the same KP, what about DSDT? will it help?

finally works on my gigabyte phenom 2 x4 790x/sb750 chipset. Installed from hazard client/server distro selected only kernels and cmos fix from hazards customize screen. Then rebooted hazard dvd f8 to get hazard bootloader then selected my install disk then enter and soon in sl ok.

I can restart and shutdown lan/internet works. Runs really stable. No audio devices so i re-installed and thistime selected audio drivers in addition to cmos fix and kernels. The install went fine but when i booted sl got double kp so it does not like my onboard audio (ati rv770/790) with these drivers. Any ideas to get audio working?

Where did you get all those options/features from? They were not on my hazard customization screen at start of install. Are you using the customization screen that you can select after you select your installation drive?

I also managed to apply the final hazard update to the original install using ppf omatic for windows but it did not seem to make any difference on my hardware. I suppose i need to know how to build a ppf file with the appropriate drivers or how to add them from sl

I only just realised if you press f8 when the aliens appear it puts you into a manual bootloader where you can slect your installed sl drive. Prior to this i was using efi bootloader and this gave me the mismatch problem.

snakeo2 02-13-2010 12:50 AM

I have the same chipset as you and these settings worked for me:

AnV_10.2.0_Kernel
Chamelon_RC3_PCEFI_10.5
AMD_Patch
NVEnabler
VoodooHDA_v2.5.3
ATIATA
Realtek_8169
ElliotForceLegacyRTC
IOATAFamily_Fix
OpenHaltRestart

i should point out that my audio is not working. I also cant restart/shutdown. Try those settings.

I got most of the information from leo hazard web site. I just found my audio chip from my mobo's user manual (ALC889a) which is one of the options. In case you are wondering my mobo is a Gibabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P. Which kext did you use to be able to reboot/shutdown? Yes I am using the customization screen after I select my destination drive.

I will tell you how i did it. Straight out of the box with no black magic.

First you must set your bios southbridge to ahci, ide wont work. The n you need to boot the hazard client server disk from a sata dvd drive that is in ahci mode.It MUST be the client/server distro. make sure you have no usb devices plugged in other than a vanilla keyboard and mouse if you dont have serial ones. You dont need to select anything. Just let it go and if you are lucky you will see the grey osx install screen. After you select your language you will see utilities in the top line. Select disk utilities then select your drive and partition it for mac journalled. close this then select continue and select the install drive you have just initialised. You will see a screen with a customize option select customise then select kernels and cmos fix. then continue. When the install completes reboot and when you see the aliens press f8 and select your installed sl drive. If you are lucky you will end up running snow leopard or you will get kernel panic. Your hardware is different to mine so it may not run - Then you need to play around with the customisation options i mentioned.

Maybe you can work through it with this. Its a lot more than i had. I used the process of elimination and googling which took days. This only takes about 1/2 hour to try.

I used the same approach for my athlon x2/sb600 system using the original hazard distro.

The toorrent for the client/server was posted earlier. Download this with utorrent a burn to dvd with the appropriate utility - i use poweriso.

My installed system is vanilla hazard. i have installed no kexts. Thats my next challenge.
Can you explain how you did it?

I wonder if we have different versions of hazar's snow leopard? I'm using snow leopard server client 10.6.2. After formatting the drive, I go to the screen where you are ready to install. On the left bottom of the screen, there is a "customize" button, I click on it and all the options are there. You have click on the little arrow to open the subfolders under each category. I got this screenshot from leo hazard's site, but it's the same one I used.

http://www.leohazard.com/images/Final10.6.1-2.jpg

I think i will do a fresh install and hopefully my audio and reboot/shutdown will work. After that, my next challenge is how to add an entry to my grub bootloader to boot snow leopard. Let me know if it helps.

snakeo2 02-13-2010 02:03 AM

my sata dvd drive is not recognized. Are you having the same issue?

You have same bios as me. You need to set ahci in southbridge if you set combined mode you sata dvd drive mist be in one of first 4 ports, otherwise disable combined mode. but you also need to select 1st boot device as sata/dvd. in my bios it showed both ide and sata cd/dvd boot drive options. i had one of each and it was set to ide/cd-dvd so it ignored my sata dvd drive. perhpas you have the same issue - its set to ide cd/dvd.

I didnt see the sub-menus in the settings. Good spot - my stupidty i will check.

snakeo2 02-13-2010 03:20 AM

I just did another re-install and still having audio issues despite the fact that I chose the audio patch which matched my audio chipset. I'm still having issues with restart/shutdown, which is frustrating. I will keep trying and report back.

With my new understanding of the settings what i was selecting that worked was all kernels and all cmos fixes. To this i added ati drivers and alc889a audio.

No difference when booted up. Still no audio output device. Restart worked fine. I still only have 1280x1024 resolution offered - i have a 2560x1600 monitor. It identifies my graphics adapter as radeon 4890. I think it is xfx 4830 or 50 definitely not 90.

main problem seems to be just no audio seems stable and reliable

i am booting sl from the hazard boot loader. I would like to dual boot with windows 7 but without more research i dont know how to. Whether its as simple using easybcd to add and entry for osx to the windows MBR?????? etc. any ideas?

snakeo2 02-13-2010 05:15 AM

I will try your suggestion. As far as multiboot, I've read a few tutorial about dual booting windows 7 & mac and it seems pretty easy. Actually during the install, I think you can select to install cameleon which will let you boot both operating systems. I havent read much about cameleon, so cant really offer more concrete information. I also noticed that it didnt recognize my video card (radeon 4650). Instead it shows as radeon 2600 series, and it only shows it has 256mb of memory when my card has 1gb.

snakeo2 02-13-2010 09:33 PM

cottage1909,

By any chance did you run "Marvin's AMD Utility" to patch your system? I tried running it but it keeps freezing? So you installed all kernels and all cmos patches? I wonder if that wouldnt cause a kernel panic since you are installing all of them?

markolo25 02-14-2010 08:18 AM

uhm my specs are
phenom 9950
m3a78-em
sb600

alc1200

sata hard drive.

what do i need to select after i click custom install.

JoesMorgue 02-15-2010 12:39 AM

I would recommend an external DVD drive. Get an ATA to USB device and an ATA DVD drive (Burner would be of more use) You have something to fall back on if you need it.

Old (or stable) doesn't mean bad. Do you mean that snow leopard SHOULD use newer hacks?

TIA (this is the first Snow Leopard distro that I see)

I did a Torrent DL of this from <Website> and burned it to a DVD.

The disk won't boot! Should it have? I also noticed that it fit on a single layer DVD, which also seems strange.

Must this be installed as an update? Did I get a bad image?

I'm planning on installing this on: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...reg_R1002_USEN

It has 3 Gigs of RAM, and an AMD 4450e dual core

I'm VERY green still when it comes to Macs

Thank you!

Boot fails on Dell Vostro

Hi I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.1-10.6.2 Intel AMD made by Hazard iso dl'ed via Bit torrent. My machine is a Dell Vostro 1400 that's with T7500 cpu (2.2 Dualcore) 4gb ram and the Intel GM965 chipset. SATA hdd (250gb) and DVD drives and NVidia GS8400m 128mb

The dvd seems to boot fine and use F8 to add in the - v parameter and it continues to boot. Darwin starts and the resolution of the screen changes. Then I get a panic with the following detail:-

panic(cpu 0 caller 0x00407075): "ACPI: AcpiOsFree"@/VoodooKernel/xnu-1228.7.58/iokit/Kernel/IOLib.cpp:724

Phew ;-)
Any one got any idea whats going on or how to get the install working? I managed to do a vanilla install of 10.6.1 on an MSI wind - but on the Vostro I cannot get anything to boot -s- similar errors trying boot123 OSX86 boot disks.

Is the Vostro just a no go for OSX?

You've got nForce chipset mobo - you need to select an according driver to make your southbridge work properly - if you did so it might be the "more than 2GB RAM issue" - try maxmem=2000 bootflag. :)

Good news or bad news. If you have leopard installed on another partition (like I did) all you have to do is replace a file in the snow leopard partition.

SO, go into Leopard and access the Snow Leopard partition. Then go to System/Library/Extensions. Take the kext from the attached zip file and drop it into the Extensions directory and replace. Then reboot into Snow Leopard and all SHOULD work correctly.

Edit: For those who don't have Leopard on another partition - when installing from the disk, custimize the install and find the "IOATAFAMILY Fix" and make sure it is selected. This will make sure you don't get a kernel panic becuase of the kext.
