I have recently purchased an Asus K50IN-X7S and installed Snow Leopard using methods described in this forum (thanks all btw) and am 99%on my way to a perfect install but I have 1 small problem.

After sleep, the Fn key on the keyboard does not work(for brightness, sleep, etc) , and if I attempt to use it, the Ctrl Key seemingly gets stuck down within the OS making it unusable.

Anybody have any suggestions for a fix? If not, could someone post their working keyboard kexts so I can try them for myself. Thanks

Could someone with working Fn key after sleep post their Extra folder as a zip file so I could experiment with my laptop? Thanks

Also, if I choose to update to 10.6.2 from 10.6.0, what additional kexts/patches do I need?

BTW if anyone has issues with deep sleep try this fix: http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-180991

After deep sleep, the Fn key works which is OK for now

Hi there. Don't worry on updating from 10.6 to 10.6.2. All are smooth after that, no need for additional patch or kext.;)

Cheers.

How should I manage the first steps of snow leopard install?

Hello guys,

First, many thanks to your experiments, and the shared stuff. My English can strange, becouse I am writing from Hungary :)

I have an ASUS K50IN SX-021L and I would like to install Snow Leopard but I have stucked at the starting line. I am come from the Windows era but I have some experience with the Linux systems too.

I have burned some Retail Snow Leopard Install DVD, but non of them wants to boot, with the K50IN Boot CD v2. Is this normal?

I have decided to try the installer script. Do I need to have a Mac to do the first step? „Restore the retail "Snow Leopard Install DVD" to a read/write disk partition (hdd or usb flash drive).”

What do I exactly need to do the install? An usb flash drive, a retail dvd, a mac?
How can I make an USB installer disk?

My spec is: ASUS K50IN-SX021L | Mobile Intel® Core2 Duo T6500 2100 MHz | 4096MB DDR2/800MHz | NVIDIA® GeForce G102M/512MB | Chipset: NVIDIA MCP75L

Please help me to get over the first difficulties.

Greetings from Hungary!
