Hi slic.
Have you found an issue for ioata supporting 32/64 bit?

twr 08-22-2009 07:42 PM

not yet ... but it seems related to the lack of a secondary PCI IDE channel ...

we'll need further investigations I guess, and the release of 10.6 sources might give us more informations.

Now ATA drives (cd/dvd roms etc.) working! but only in 32b mode :)

...

you didn't solve it,,,,,,that's exactly where we started!!!!

twr 08-23-2009 06:38 PM

indeed ...

just to walk a bit through the mysterious way of 10.6 PIIXATA, can the people facing IOATA KP confirm that they use only one IDE/PATA controller ?

steenamaroo 08-24-2009 12:06 PM

if it helps,, as far as i know, i only use one...

i remember on leopard, when appleintelpiixata loaded,,,i would have seen

'secondary ide channel disabled' or something to that effect in verbose boot.

this is back when the dc/dvd drive worked no problem...

my laptop is a dell vostro 1500 with a sata hard drive and apparently ide dvd drive

twr 08-24-2009 01:11 PM

exactly the same here : this error wasn't an issue in 10.5, but it might be the cause of our KP on 10.6 ...

I don't know how much it can help more talented people to (hopefully) solve the problem, but I'll mention the observed link on netkas' blog ...

I've the same symptom. Effectively, it appears 'secondary ide channel disabled' in vebose boot. I've changed ioata by an old one but still not working in -x64 mode cause my optic CD/DVD drive is not recognised at all.
