DLing 10.5.2 RC2 now. Hope it works... It's only bad that X11 isn't included in the system, I'm using Crossover. Have to extract it from the old DVD.
Some problems with disk images: Has anyone the problem when he's mounting an .dmg image with the type 'CD/DVD' or older CDs that there are a lot of disks mounted, fe. diskXs0 disXs1 diskXs2... up to diskXs6 and so on. Sometimes it's problematic to eject disk images, you have to eject them from Disk Utility, not from the desktop. Sometimes they are still listed in the drives sidebar, even if they were already ejected.
While I'm just talking about disk images: Try to use them more often, they're great. If you want to archive files you also have to decrunch them always. Using a compressed .dmg you have much easier access to the data. Create with Disk Utility an empty .dmg in the size you need, add about 10-20 MB more. Always select 'No partition table'. There are two types: the normal .dmg which is so big as you selected, or the .sparseimage which only needs so much space on you harddisk as it's using. Put your files into the .dmg, change the Volume name and convert it with Disk Utility to a compressed dmg. If you select compressed (bzip2) it saves a lot of space, more than zip archives.
But they're also great for burning Mac CDs/DVDs: Create with disk Utility an empty .dmg or .sparseimage as above. Now copy files, folders or compressed dmg's to this disk. Now you can give it special disk icons, change the background color or use a picture (for each directory), the icons could be in different size as normal and so on. Looks great, much better as a simple Data DVD burnt with Toast. To create icons you need only the prog FastIcns and the usual Preview program, even 512x512 px Leopard icons. If you have a lot of pics or movies on a DVD, maybe switch off the 'Preview' function, otherwise it could take long if it displays all thumbnails. After this you can burn the disk, also with Disk Utility.
I attached some self-made disc icons, only uing FastIcns and Leopard's Preview.
