I'm really looking forward to try this release.
I hope that this will work on my laptop, which I mentioned in this thread.
Very very curious.
Anyone know if it is possible to compile madwifi from source on Leo?

Do you have solution for this problems on Rev. 2?
Thank you

PS
Sorry for my English

naquaada 01-15-2008 05:12 PM

Have you tried PatchBurn from www.patchburn.de ? It creates individual profiles for your CD/DVD-RW drive.

maga11 01-15-2008 05:20 PM

i will try,
thank you

zephyroth 01-15-2008 05:37 PM

Stop asking for test Beta Rev.2.

It is obvious that you want to test only in the hope to see it functioning correctly on your machine.
And you will not make any test if it's indeed the case ...

Moreover the majority of the people who ask to test have a hardware more or less close to the one of current beta testers or known to be recognized correctly.

I will make an announce if I really need new beta testers.
And it will be only according to the hardware that you have and of which I want to know if it's supported or not by Rev.2!

silex 01-15-2008 06:56 PM

@ zephyroth
"that you want to test only in the hope to see"
This is not true. If that need i may to test all friends machines and send results to you.

PS
But if you will need a testers in future you may write me ;)

Jojo 01-15-2008 08:17 PM

@ zephyroth

you say you don't need new beta testers.
Are my specs compatible with leopard amd rev 2?

HP NX6325:

zephyroth 01-15-2008 08:23 PM

I didn't say I didn't need beta testers ...

I just said that I will make an announce ...

Epke 01-15-2008 08:40 PM

braindead, choose @rev2 released tomorrow buggy as hell(pain in the ass when installing/trying to install)
@rev2 released in February(a charming thing to install with no problems)

zephyroth 01-16-2008 04:00 AM

Again, I think I made a mistake on the probable release date ...

I was too sure of my ability to make a new DVD (better than Rev.1) in 2 months and at that time there's still a lot of things that need to be fixed.

I'm working on it everyday and it's in progress.

erei33 01-16-2008 05:01 AM

Zephyroth, once you get the Rev2 beta working better I can test how it works with ATI 3870s. Specs are:

and zephyrot, i have one question:
i have a nvidia graphic card, but i didn't see it in the Vendor's Device ID section on the wikidot
will be recognized or i will need to edit something if give me some problems?
my graphic card is a nVidia GeForce 7000M
cya later and tnx for the effort on this rev2
P.D. Sorry for my bad english xS

naquaada 01-19-2008 05:11 AM

Hmmm. it's curious how many people asking to be a beta tester... although zephyroth said more than one time that he would announce it when he needs nw ones.

Hi zephyroth,

My motherboard is ASUS M2N-E, with NVIDIA nForce® 570 Ultra chipset.

I've tried to install the Tiger releases (TubGirl and iATKOS), but I don't have success. I cannot format my partitions, they just appears at Disk Manager, but they're inactive (a gray color).

So I just wanna know if you have beta testers for nForce 570 chipset, because I've read somewhere that the problem it's the chipset, and not my SATA HDD.

@ emaildopedrooo

Maybe you have to repartition your harddisk? My Windows partitions also are greyed out. If formatting is possible select 'Overwrite with zeroes' from the Security Options.

1207FX 01-20-2008 10:02 PM

Anyone know or have an educated guess whether or not OSX would work with my system? I have posted my specs before but here is my CPUID and video card spec. thanks in advance for any help

emaildopedrooo 01-20-2008 11:04 PM

@ naquaada

I followed this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=14715

But when I try to Erase the partition in Disk Manager, nothing happens. I'll try the 'Overwrite with zeroes'.

(Using TubGirl release, it's a Tiger release. Still downloading the Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.1 AMD).

Thanks for help, and sorry for my English. =\

komeet 01-21-2008 12:15 AM

Hi there,

I wanna share my installation experiences with revision 1 and help the staff to make a perfect revision 2 ;-)

My hardware specifications:
Laptop ID: Medion 97900
CPU: AMD Turion 64 Mobile MK-36 2.0Ghz. SSE, SSE2, SSE3
Chipset (Southbridge): nVidia nForce 410/430 MCP rev. A3.
Videocard: NVIDIA Geforce Go 6150.
HDD: Samsung HM080JI S-ATA, 80 GB.
Audio: Realtek ACL883.
WiFi: Zydas Z1211B.

1) My first installation attempt stopped after installation screen appeared. The installation froze and after a lot of internet research I figured out that the first revision didn't support S-ATA drives on NForce chipsets. I injected the the iso with the new ATA kext and from there the installation went smooth. I already read that this is fixed in R2 so this shouldn't be happen anymore.

2) After installation, it came to my first try to boot which ended up abruptly with a kernel panic. It worked out that the problem was a non support NVidia graphic card. I had to delete some of the NV* and Ge* kext and after this the configuration wizard appears.

3) After installation and configuration the system worked, partially. I had to install some drivers for my Zydas Z1211B. Actually this a common used chipset for WLan adapters. Maybe it is a good idea to included it in the iso. The driver can be found here: ftp://ftp.zyxeltech.de/ZyDAS/ZD1211_USB/Macintosh/ZDA211MacUSB_install_4_5_7_0.dmg

4) After a while I noticed that my touchpad wasn't working properly. The tap wasn't working. So I had to replace the one from the DVD with this one: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=21952&st=20&p=160695&#entry160 695

5) There were some problems with my graphic card. To get it work I had to install the the MacVidia driver 1.0.81 AND NVInjectGo (just NVInjectGo didn't work) and the LaptopDisplay.kext from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=37630

6) My sound card wasn't working and I had to install the kext from here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36520

My wish list for revision 2:
1) Full support for my graphic card, because I don't have QE / CI support right now. Zeph, I know this is not exactly your business ;-)

2) A kernel which supports SpeedStep or PowerNow. My CPU consumes the maximum power all the time. That means the fan is running all the time and the battery time is very short. So maybe it would be a good idea to provide the second revision with CPU throttle kext and/or kernel to reduce the power consumption (and the fan noise of course ;-)

3) Support for my X10 WTI remote controller

And at last I noticed two odd things and I don't know how I can fix this.

1) The system start takes very long if an usb drive is plugged in. Sometimes it doesn't start at all.
2) The MAC OS clock interferes with the XP clock. If I set the correct time in MAC OS the Windows XP clock is 1 hour behind the actual time. If I correct the time and next time I boot into MAC OS the time is 1 hour ahead so I have to correct this clock as well which means means the XP clock is wrong again and so on... Does anybody know what's wrong here?

cheers,
komeet

braindead803 01-22-2008 06:12 PM

on the test reports for version 2 it says (actually uploading it) does that mean good news or what does that mean?

zephyroth 01-22-2008 06:45 PM

That means I'm uploading it on ftp for Beta Test.

braindead803 01-22-2008 07:19 PM

oh. my bad. i got over anxious. i been trying to prepare my old desktop for mac. but its older than most computers its from 2001. so i don't even know if it compatible. which i am about to check

Hello everybody.

I know this forum is for the Beta 2 and rightnow is closed to some testers, and I know as newbie i can be a tail as a tester but i have expirience in Unix/Linux systems, so if you wish I can help as a tester. Meanwhile i'm reading some helps and tring to find some kext -just in case for the original iso and other i will modify-

Even when i tryied to download the Zephyroth's version 1 its imposible the torrent in the bay that match doesn't have seeders or lechers some one can tell me specific keywords to look for, becuse I have an "new" -used by my cousin- lap is the HP's tablet TX1232LA an I want to see it runing in OSX-86.

I can't wait to test this out. I got an HTPC, mainly used for satellite dvb, known as the CW3000HD.
If possible, I'd love to get my hands on the beta and see about getting kext's made for my pci and usb dvb/atsc devices and getting MythTV running with it.
Would look sweet as hell also, in 1080p glory.
Quick rundown of hardware:
Asus M2NPV-VM Mobo
AMD64 FX64 Processor
Geforce 6150 Video
Nforce Lan
A few other little things...
Would someone please put this on megashares instead of torrent when released? Megashares, you can upload a file w/out splitting it. Torrents take forever. Of course, ftp access is ideal ;)

7eventh 01-27-2008 03:50 AM

Just a small (nealy OT) question:
Why do you keep the Beta closed for Rev.2 ?
Normally I understand a closed BETA for a product thats gonna be sold ... buy you re not gonna sell it, don t you?
So, besides keeping some noobs from asking stupid questions, what is the idea of having it in a closed group.
Adding some more people from time to time, when exotic chips come up, will just make your work endless ... so why not throw it out and lets "fix it" in a really huge group, as I think that all people in this forum here are really interrested in gettin Leopard up and running ;o)

Just my 2 cents ....

DoiX 01-27-2008 09:10 PM

in case you din't found an answer to your question :
Quote:

[cite] zephyroth:[/cite]Vinbuntu --->

Imagine if I release it on Rapidshare. Imagine the number of people who will ask me the password ...
And how can we organize us in order to have clean reports if thousands of persons test it ?

I think it's not a good idea and by seeing how much persons ask to beta test I believe the majority just hope to see it working on their system.

So a few number of beta testers with different systems (representative of the majority of AMD systems) is a good way to improve Rev.2.
:)

I think thats the same way Microsoft thought when they gave out Betas of Vista .... and see how "improved" Vista is *LOL*

Actually my problem is, that my setup is so standard (A8N5X, Opteron 165, 2GB Kingston, Quadro FX 3400 (which never made it into QE/CI under Leopard)) that I wouldn t be a Beta candidate for your testphase ... and its killing me to read all your "protocols" without having it under my fingers ;o)

DoiX 01-27-2008 11:47 PM

don't compare microjerks with apple :) or with zeph, you rule man :))

Puttabong 01-27-2008 11:58 PM

7eventh, Apple didn't have public betas for Leopard either - so that comparison lacks a bit of realism :D

Just a little more patience, it's worth to wait! RC2 is very improved!

zephyroth 01-28-2008 12:06 AM

7eventh

Do not confuse all.

Your card doesn't allow QE/CI ? Ok but Rev.2 will not do anything more for that as long as a suitable driver will not be available.(or maybe you're not skilled enough to make it work ...)

I'm not recoding Leopard ...

Making an OSX86 release is just to put some things together (kexts, apps, some scripts ...) so that it will work on most systems.

I'm not waiting for anything. I don't have any release plan. I'm not organized. I'm just free and I will continue to be.

Those who want a new release ...

I've just one thing to say : All they have to do is to make one or be patient.

Bap 01-28-2008 12:40 AM
