@ Roisoft

Thanks ... But I already tried to do that ...

howarchaic 02-14-2008 06:20 AM

Not to turn into megaargon, but I have the AMD 770 chipset now, I've been playing with the 10.5.1 dvd, and have been getting the waiting for root message, trying to figure out what I'm doin wrong...

xlslx 02-14-2008 06:21 AM

maybe the Master/Slave issue?

xlslx 02-14-2008 06:30 AM

@zephyroth / roisoft:

and what about this thing?

There is now final extension fix from #leopard @ irc.osx86.hu.

You can get it here.
Unpack it an place it to /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/MasOS/
If you used my workaround please restore your backup of NetworkInterfaces.plist.

This fix will set IOBuiltin = true for all network devices.

and at the following link there are more information about this error, it may help you:

@howarchaic

please search in this forum - in my opinion your problem was discussed severeal times - just take some minutes and search for it!
i didnt have that problem yet but i mean its caused by a wront master/slave setting - just consult the forum posts and your bios ;)

maybe set your cable select to master/slave! and try again

howarchaic 02-14-2008 06:39 AM

Sorry, I'll peak around somemore...

megaargon1 02-14-2008 06:45 AM

Don't worry, I am not asking for more. At least we got an ETA. Thank you very much Zeph. I can say that you are doing a truly amazing job getting the smoothest install for us. I can't wait to try it out. Don't forget, I am willing to seed overnight once the update is released. So we can see something in the horizon, right? I'm on your side. I wouldn't be surprised to see the release as early as Friday. Take a break Zeph after you are done with the upload while we take care of the rest. =)

megaargon1 02-14-2008 06:49 AM

huh? Wait-a-sec- you're uploading something? :-o Just kidding, lol, :-) - Cheers. As I said, I am in no hurry, but do keep it up. I like where this is going. I can see the hard work you are doing Zeph. We all really do appreciate it. :-)

xlslx 02-14-2008 08:23 AM

oh my god megaargon, STOP writing those types of comments - that peeves not only zeph, your peeving all of ous with your (cant wait, is it done?, and your uploading) messages. That what he wants to upload is just only(!) the apple 10.5.2 package itself to the Beta-tester-Server in a little modiefied version, no final iso and no complete install

last word: Zeph WILL tell US ALL WHEN HE is DONE! - so stop writing those messages, thanks!

ps: and NO, youll not get access to this server....

cgsheen 02-14-2008 08:30 AM

Can someone please BAN him - at least until Zephyroth is finished...

megaargon1 02-14-2008 08:42 AM

I was just joking. Cut me some slack :-). Here, I'll ban myself for some time. How's that for a change? :-) However, I'll try to help out other users that are currently facing real problems with their O/S's. I am that kind of person you know. :-)

edited by roisoft: Stop with this kind of messages ok? this is the last chance..!

slee202 02-14-2008 09:06 AM

edited, added Zephyroth's to next sentence and rig info at end. Wish I could remember how to format text to show added words.

Is this true? Is Zephyroth's 10.5.2 going into beta not being released?

If so ouch. Where do I apply to be a beta tester? Really.

Also the bit about: "Zeph WILL tell US ALL WHEN HE is DONE!"
Where? I am not pushing for a faster release just a single point where I can check the status instead of reading a dozen threads.

edit:
If I am going to talk about beta testing I should list the rig I would be using.

This site would not have been this kind of funny without this Kid megaargon, he definitive can't wait for his stuff, i just imagine him 3 to 5 years ago waiting for Santa Claus, i think its almost the same for him...

I remember back when i first download the Zeph's rev 1 how much patches i had to made and how many times i had to install it, and in all this time i've managed to get everything done with my rev 1 just by reading in other forums and threads

As soon as the Rev 2 comes out, i dont want to imagine this site flooded with his comments if something comes out not the way he wanted...or by a kernel panic...LOL

@roisoft

I retried what you told me (the fix I already tried and which didn't work) ... This time it works !
Prolly I did not make it correctly the first time or it didn't work because of all the fix I tried.

Thanks to remind me this.

Cromwell 02-14-2008 01:41 PM

@zephyroth
Glad to hear that =)
So which issues left?

zephyroth 02-14-2008 03:02 PM

Still the "Unable to load Info.plist exceptions" which is very annoying.

bhast2 02-14-2008 04:03 PM

Why isn't Mac OSX open-source? I means it comes from the same foundation as Linux, right?

DoiX 02-15-2008 02:40 AM

magaargon, you said you will ban yourself...what happen?

ps: os x is unix not linux and not all linux distribution are free

megaargon1 02-15-2008 03:13 AM

Banned in discussions relating to Zeph's upcoming release from what I wrote. I can still help other people and myself you know.

WinLinMac01 02-15-2008 03:21 AM

All Linux Distributions that are Open-source are by law Free by GNU License. If Kernal is Open-source, should be free as well as everything is voluntary.

Megaargon, I tried the AMD Mac image too, and am on your side, I want it so badly. Be light with megaargon, I think he has understood.
I personally feel that the new image should come out today, but just be aware, you're not the only one that has free time in your life. People have other responsibilities too you know like taking care of family, and making money for home.

rfuilrez 02-15-2008 04:08 AM

The foundation of OS X is open source. Darwin BSD. You can even download it off Apple's servers... somewhere.

Aqua (the Window Manager) and alot of the libraries that make a Mac work the way it does is Proprietary. And that's all the stuff that anybody really wants!

slee202 02-15-2008 08:53 AM

close.

All GNU Distributions are open source, because that is what GNU has declared as is purpose. Promoting and distributing open source software.

Not all open source is GNU, if you yourself create a truly new piece of software and patent it you can simply declare that it is open source, create you own version of open source license to distribute with the software and wallah it is. That after all is what freeware and shareware are! The reason GNU is such a presence is that many of the early UNIX developers believed in GNU so much that they gave their patents to GNU. So now GNU owns and has declared open source some very important software. Any time you develop software based on something owned by GNU you must accept that those parts of it are legally free and can be altered and distributed by anybody. Those parts, not the whole program. This is especially important because some very important pieces of most of the UNIX basic kernal are owned by GNU.

Not however BSD based UNIX, that is all under its own open source license.

In Piratabay, it is the update of OSX 10.5.2 for AmD.
I installed it and works perfect.
In a single package that installs everything to you, including new kernel... very simple
... and it works perfect
...It requires to have installed efi

WinLinMac01 02-15-2008 10:29 AM

Thanks, going to install as soon as it finishes download avg. 49kbps on a 10mbps connection. I assume we just install this right? No further patching, right? I wonder what Zephyroth is thinking. This update may have eased his project.

I dont think this update have eased his project since zephs 10.5.2 supports way more hardware than the last release. Me for one had trouble installing 10.5.1, so my hopes are up that 10.5.2 will work for me. The update is only important to people with a already working 10.5.1, the rest is still happy to get the 10.5.2 from zeph =)

subsonic 02-15-2008 09:03 PM

Great news zephyroth =) Good luck!

damnesiac 02-15-2008 09:23 PM

After installing 10.5.2. update my cpu is now reported as only being single core when it's dual core :(

http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/8018/picture7he9.png

zephyroth 02-15-2008 09:41 PM

Yeah same for me but you can check if the 2 cores are correctly detected by typing "sysctl -a" in Terminal (for me yes, it's just that it doesn't appear in System Profiler)

iero 02-15-2008 09:55 PM

@zephiroth : Does 10.5.2 have some support dor SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) controler and disks ?

I cannot find my disks on a SAS powered computer..

It's a 2 x "dualcore Opteron 2000 series" with a Nvidia FX5500.. and I would be happy to run leo on it..

roisoft 02-15-2008 10:00 PM

You can try with this Files
/system/library/systemprofiler (backup the others)

edit : didn´t work

Rajmahal783 02-15-2008 10:04 PM

Hey Zephyroth First I want to say your installations are perfect, really really good! 10.5.1 is amazing great job! I was just wondering one quick question on 10.5.2, how big of a file do you think it's going to be once it's done? And are you going to make two? Meaning those of us that have 10.5.1 zeph amd already installed and working doing just a straight update vs's a full installation of 10.5.2. Does that make sense? Sorry if it does not. Thanks again. Keep up the great work!

There's a 10.5.2 update floating around on TPB, you need EFI installed to load the 9.2.0 kernel though. Check the wiki for instructions on installing kernel.

Also in Activity Monitor in Applications/Utilities you can check the 2 cores working differently meaning that YES it has Dual Core capacity

roisoft 02-15-2008 10:12 PM

open a terminal and type "sysctl -a" you will see the correct 2 cores report, it´s only something "stetic"

cgsheen 02-15-2008 10:28 PM

I just ran the HUD applet (crap, can't remember the name!) It showed both cores working and throttling properly, just like they did before...

Rajmahal783 02-15-2008 10:36 PM

Hey damnesia thanks yea I saw that on TPB but I think I will wait for zeph's 10.5.2 AMD. I'm hoping with his I can get my sound working it's Conexant HIGH DEF Audio if anybody's know anything I'd appreciate it. Your trackpad is most likely PS2 so you need the PS2 kexts in the wiki. If you find out the exact model of your conexant audio I'm sure there's a kext out there that will work for you. Simple to install. If you have a usb keyboard/mouse on hand use that to install the necessary kexts.
