Naquaada, check PM at Insanelymac
Good Job zephyroth, have to say it again. Thanks :)
That's nothing ... But I would like to thank you for ... thanking me ! :-)))
Nice to hear that the DVD is working great for everyone, nice job zephyroth :)
Do you think there is a possibility it's gonna be available for others, like me, soon? :p |
Want to test the beta too maybe someone can pm me on insanelymac user account: creative_
I know you don't want a ton of people asking to beta this, but I have an ATI 3870. I can test the new drivers to see if they work. Specs are:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe 2 GB RAM 230 GB 7200 RPM SATA HD ATI 3870 w/ 512 MB Memory I'm erei33 at InsanelyMac. |
Yeah but your specs (except your graphic cards) are the same of another beta tester.
So I suggest you to download the kext for your card on the wiki and to tell me if it works or not ! |
Anything new with these specs? don't really things so but anyway...
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ M2N61-AX 2GB RAM 250 GB SATA HD 8600GT NForce4/MCP61 |
thank you zephyroth I am dying for this release RC1 worked great except graphics and networking. I got my hands on the txt that has supported graphics cards somewhere in the post on insanley mac and it looks like my nvidia 6150 LE is going to work! hopefully networking to.
Thank you for all your hard work, I look forward to finally getting to use it. Good luck on your beta ! hopefully any problems will be corrected. |
here my system specs for testing: Every OS X booting HD has two bootable systems and a shared partition for both - very handy for experiments.
Asus A8N-SLI Premium nForce 4 SLI chipset 2 GB Dual-Channel RAM 400 MHz 320 GB IDE for MacOS booting 500 GB SATA for MacOS data Radeon X1600Pro PCI-Express Audio Realtek ALC850 nForce LAN Marvell 88E1115 2nd LAN Marvell 88E0001 SiliconImage SiI3114 Raid Controller I have two identical systems of this type, with an 3700+ and an 4000+ San Diego. Every component except the X1600 was working out of the box with RC1. nForce IDE/SATA/LAN working 100%. Networking Leopard-Leopard and Leopard-Tiger is working. SiliconImage 3114 is not working, was former supported by AppleVIAATA.kext. It's installed, but still not recognized. Marvell 88E0001 needs skge.kext, works in Tiger, not tested in Leopard. Asus A8N-E FM Athlon 64 4000+ San Diego nForce 4 Standard Chipset 1 GB Dual-Channel RAM 400 MHz 500 GB SATA for MacOS Radeon X1600Pro PCI-Express Audio Realtek ALC655 LAN Realtek RTL8201CL Note: This is a Fujitsu-Siemens OEM board. Installing made problems at first, had the 1-minute-left bug. After the second try with overwriting (like explained in the wiki) installer said the installation was failed, like on a friend's A8N-SLI Premium with an 4000+. After I restored an image which was created on the Premium board everything is ok. Networking Leopard-Leopard and Leopard-Tiger is working. Asus K8N-E Deluxe Athlon 64 3400+ Socket 754 Clawhammer, SSE2 only nForce 3-250 chipset 2 GB Single-Channel-RAM 333 MHz 320GB IDE for booting MacOS 300GB IDE for MacOS data Radeon X1600Pro AGP Audio Realtek ALC850 nForce 3 LAN Marvell 88E1115 SiliconImage SiI3114 Raid controller You see, the components are the same ones like on the Premium, so also on this board every component is working. But no AGP support, the X1600 is recognized as PCI. But I have QE/CI/Mode selection. Networking was working, but not anymore, the system is rather crappy now (to many patching ;) I tried to rewrite the Leopard RC1 image which I made on the Premium and replaced the kernel with ToH 9.0.0. It was booting till the end, resolution was switched to my TFT native resolution, but I only got a blue screen with mouse cursor. If I moved it in the right bootom corner where I have Exposé everytime I got a bang out of the speakers ;) I tried a bit with AGPGart and some AGP patches for leopard, but they led to a kernel panic. P.S.: If I should move this maybe a <bit> too long post to another beta thread, tell me ;) |

So, first try. I installed RC2 with SSE3 Kernel and it worked without problems. I had QE/CI directly after booting (got the install video). No sound, but that was my mistake I think. I migrated the files and settings of my old RC1 system to RC2 during installation, it worked - except of the password! I couldn't log in! Booting in my main system wasn't working, I got a Kernel panic with the 'OS not set' error like crawle had. I'm installing new actually. Is it better to use GUID instead of MBR when using EFI?
wow congrats on the upload and the good news on the similar ease like rc1. i can't wait :)
@ naquaada As far as I know, you HAVE to use GUID to use EFI.
No, I'm now using EFI with my old system. Strange: xbench shows lower CPU results than in RC2, but overall it's faster.
so its been uploaded for all beta testers to work wit. so a release possibly this week? or in the next few days?
stop asking..... naquaada did GUID worked on your system with rc2?
Hi All Beta Tester,
Did anyone tried to install Rev2 on a AMD based laptop. Actually i tried to install Jas 10.4.8 on a seperate pata drive using my Compaq V6211 Laptop The install went smooth but the real problem is its not detecting my build-in keyboard. Please include some ktext in Rev.2 before preparing final version, so it can make laptop build-in keyboard work. Thanks in advance ... Waiting patiently.... Take ur full time "zephyroth" |
@ DoiX: not yet, I have to repartition my HD for this. Was sitting till 4 a.m. at night on testing RC2...
Hey, can ANYBODY tell me the advantages of this EFI stuff sometimes? I ask more than one time, but never got an answer. |
EFI on AMD allow us to use original kexts (ACPIPlatformExpert ... etc) for a better stability.
It allow me to use my GeForce 8800 GTS 640Mo without NVinject. Its main purpose is to put our HackInTosh a step closer to real Macs. On Intel, it allows us to use vanilla kernel and original kexts (Apple Updates are possible without breaking your system). |
zephyroth do you have beta testers with Dell Inspiron 1501? Those one are a lil bit hard to install MAC OS X on them. I did installed the Tiger with VMWare (in boot mode it can't be seen the HDD).
Sys spec: AMD Turion64 TL-56 @ 1,8Ghz Graphics: ATI x1150 HDD: 120GB SATA Fujitsu Sound: SigmaTel Audio HD Network: Broadcom 440x 10/100 WLAN Dell Wireless 1390 If you need a tester for notebooks like Inspirons i can join. Best regards. |
I will send a pm to Bonkey so that you will be able to download it.
BUT, I need detailled feedback if you don't test it correctly you will be banned from this forum ... Ok ? |
OK i'll start testing as soon as i download the kit. Thank you Zeph tu es le meilleure :D
Ok but without "e" in the end of "meilleur" , I'm not a girl ... :-)
Lol sorry. Je comprend le francais mais c'est ma faute le "e".
Zephyroth .... Any good news for ME ???
laptop keyboard & touchpad ?
yup :)
don't really know ... I've not make any search about that yet.
zephyroth
Looks like this works can you please include this Still i have to test it ... will check it on Jas 10.4.8 installation & post you the result :) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=78001&hl=Laptop+Keyboard |
Hmmm there's already ApplePS2Keyboard.kext in Rev2 DVD.
If it's not compatible with your laptop keyboard I don't know how I can include both ... Unless the kext for laptop keyboard is compatible with "normal" PS2 keyboard. Rockybt18 will be able to answer as soon as Bonkey give him the access to the ftp. |
Install was fine but when finishes and reboot "HFS partition error" & the second time "b0 error", I hve installed from a spare partition, maybe that is the problem. I´ll try from DVD
Using GUID ?
Ok No problem ....
If this solution work for me then i will take care of that on my sys as its very specific problem with my laptop only :) Thanks for your consideration |
Yes
Ok Roisoft ... I didn't test partition with GUID yet, so I don't know what's wrong in my script. You should take a look at it and see if you can fix.
It's located in Packages/Bootloader/FixGUID.pkg on the DVD. |
ok, i think that the problem is unmounting the disk and boot0
Unmounting is needed to use startupfiletool.
For changing it no need to use Pacifist or to recreate a pkg. Just edit like this : In terminal: nano /path-to-the-Image/System/Installation/Packages/Bootloader/FixGUID.pkg/Contents/Resources/postinstall Do your modification and save. |
Zephyr I hope I get the the ftp adress through mail or how?
Zeph, i didn't get any PM's about FTP access. nor wiki nor insanelymac
Oh ... I've just sent you one on wiki.
round 4... 4 Rc2- 0 Me :) i installed 4 times using GUID no success :) (i tried installing efi from a pen drive but i get *still waiting for root thing*...) now i am trying to install it using MBR wish me luck again :)
hey zeph i dont know if you have any testers with a compaq presario r3210 Laptop or not if you want specs plz let me know, also if you have anyone with a ati card with dev id of 0x71c6
0x71c6 is mobilty radeon x1600 I think
nope that one is on my desktop sapphire ati x1650 pro
it works fine on tiger but i would like to test on leo, but also cant get rev 1 to work so id like to test rev 2
Just installed RC2 completly fresh, backuped the data drives before!
I had to fix the Bootloader manually, but that was easy. (Startupfiletool and other needed tools are on the DVD already, so there is no need to use additional an additional usb drive: They are located in /usr/standalone/i386) Works nice. Thanks for the System Profiler file, roisoft :) -> http://talkmacbookair.com/zenpath/colorlab.png |
MBR or GUID ?
GUID
Ok. Any other problem ?
