Hi,

I've just installed rev 2 on my SATA drive in the following system: MSI k9N Neo v2, AM2 AMD 64X2-4400, 2 GB, ATA-DVD, ATA-HDD 40GB, SATA-HDD 160 GB., RTL8111/8168B network. Installation went smoothly with 1 minor ATIRadeonX2000.kext tuning to get my Radeon HD2400 Pro working. However, after installation I have several problems:

1. I can boot from my SATA-HDD only if installation DVD is in the DVD-drive. Without it I have blinking cursor. Fixing it with fdisk -e ... for MBR and dd if=./guid/boot1h of=... for GUID doesn't work. I tried both MBR and GUID partitioning with the same negative result.
2. I was able to install system only when ATA-HDD is on. When it's off, I constantly got message "still waiting for boot device..."
3. "Connect as..." button in finder doesn't work at all. Though in 10.5.1 it worked fine

Is there any way to fix these problems?

more detailed configuration of my system is attached below

Thanks, Dmitry

[cite] mus1:[/cite]Already mentioned it in the other Thread:
Finder -> Go -> "Connect to Server..." doesn't work at all, no matter what I type, it always says that the URL would be invalid.
I also cannot connect to smb-shares. When I click on a share it says "Connection failed".
Everything else works fine so far. The NTFS-driver is working fine as well.
I have the same problem,i tried to install Darwin EFI 9.2 or 9.1, it gives to same result, can someone know a solution to fix this?

hi to all,
the 10.5.2 ver. 2 very nice build! BUT I'm having a small problem. I have XFX GeForce 7300GS 512MB (256MB onbord) working with Leo-only_NVinject_0.1.3 patch, is there any patch in ver2 to make this video card work? I have try the NV patch but it did not work for me! and the RT2500USBWirelessDriver it does support all versions? because I have Linksys USB WUSB54GS and its v4 but I can't see it when I select it in my costum installation.

my system:
OS: Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.2 v.2 AMD (EFI v.8 MBR, Kernel 9.2.0)
CPU: Dual-core 2.6 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
Onbord Video graphics: GeForce 6150LE (I don't use)
Video graphics: XFX GeForce 7300GS 512MB (working with Leo-only_NVinject_0.1.3)
Memory: 4GB 240-pin DDR2
Onboard audio: Realtek ALC888 (AzaliaAudio, ALC888Audio)
HD: 500 GB SATA Master for Leo, 320GB SATA Master for Vista
Onboard LAN:(unknown)
WiFi: Linksys USB WUSB54GS v4 (RT2500USBWirelessDriver)

i have the same videocard, i selected the NVinject 0.21 as well as the Nvidia KExt 94MB during the installation, it's working fine with hardware acc.. plus all the resolutions... I believe that you can install it even after the Leopard Installation. Download Tinkertool in order to see those hidden directories.. then run the packages that you need instead of going back in the Installation menu. good luck.

Those who have LAN problems with M2N-E boards with nForce 570 chipset should try following kext file:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=89475&st=0

It's in beta stage and extremely unstable but still a good start.

Also I thouht my system didn't have audio but turned out there is. About my mac doesn't display any audio hardware but I am able to play audio files. Strange, but as long as it works I'm happy.

Thanks zephyroth :)

Ok so now I've got more problems than with rev.1 :( Got the "Still waiting for root device" error on startup of DVD..

I have the SB600 chipset, and a 120Gb IDE HDD.. Help please!!

**update**
I did install leo 10.5.2 v2 again and this time I have my video working 100% with NVinj 256mb .
the one this I'm sure that its not working is the RT2500USBWirelessDriver, I did select it in three different PC plus laptop. when I restart the mac and look under Extensions folder I can't find RT2500USBWirelessDriver kext, I have to install it manually! is there any fix for this issue?

WinLinMac01 03-14-2008 07:51 AM

copy the kext to your dvd and reburn the iso if thats the case, don't forget to patch it correctly

transmac is what I know should work, there were a couples I can't recall at the moment that are floating around in this forum.

Ok i thing i did something wrong while posting. I'll post it again:

Since I have an SB600 chipset I injected the kext that can be found on this forum for this chipset and now it detects both my ATA dvdrom and my SATA disk. However i now can't get past the NTFS partition detecting sequence...

@the rest: Does anybody else suffer from this? I have 2 NTFS partitions: 1 Windows RE OEM rescue partition and a large OS/storage partition. The intaller doesnt give any errors, not even in verbose mode. I can't just remove all of those partitions since it's actually my office notebook :-).

I also tryed installing through an USB IDE controller connected to an old harddisk while having the original one disconnected. Except for the poor performance, the OS crashes when it reaches the welcome wizzard. I get a totally crewed up graphical interface with nothing readable on it an stuttering sound... I thought having an ATI 2400 HD was a good thing since it's included in the *real* I Mac we have on the office...

Can anybody help me with this?

I am probably an idiot but....I installed 10.5.2rev1 no problem on my dell 1501,got the iso for rev2 file hash is a match. I deleted my first install and went to load up the new one. When i put the disk in
and boot from cd it starts to load but after it reaches the apple screen(like 40sec) it just hangs like it is trying to boot an install that is already there???? Anyone have an idea??

chipgeek 03-14-2008 07:41 PM

I did try swiftdisc to burn at 2x then still same , okay see attach when I press -v ,

Quote:

[cite] WinLinMac01:[/cite]That shouldn't happen. Are you sure you burned the Disc at its lowest speed at 2x (what burning software did you use?) I suggest you use SwiftDisc 2.02 Premium Burning by: Primo Software, 30-day trial to burn your disks. I'm seeing you have a GA_K8NSNXP-939 (Nforce 3 chipset, how do I know, I used to own the 754-socket version of that board, and used to encounter problems quite often, =). I have a Nforce4 K8NXP-SLI board currently. My best option is to burn at lowest speed "or" study the problem more carefully because you may have to tweak your BIOS setting here any there. Do you see any errors when you are in Verbose Mode? Don't press F8 to get to the installation screen, just press enter when your BIOS is at the point when it is booting of the DVD. =)

Quote:

[cite] chipgeek:[/cite]I found in torrent . I download Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI-Rev2.iso then I burn dvd at 2x. restart to dvd boot , I press f8 then enter , it pop up , it said please hold the power or restart computer, I press -v , -x, -s, all no go, still lot of panics, dont know why,

my computer is
Gigabyte K8nsnxp-939 bios F6
Althon amd 64 3500 (NewCastle)
4 times 512 mb of kingstons = 2GB ram
BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra
but I tried update to F13 Bios , not good , also set S3 from ACPI , no go

ka911 03-14-2008 08:31 PM

I don't know whats going on with you guys but there is no problem with this iso image.
here what I did it! Download Leo v2 then burn it with Nero 8(speed 4x) reboot my PC, hit Enter to start Leo Installation
After 30 to 40 sec (Do not be alarmed if the initial grey screen takes a couple minutes) you will see the Leo language screen, choose your native language from the list. For me I select English, Click Agree. Then go to Disk Utility then select your HD (for me I used SATA), format it to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and for option I did select MBR. Exit the disk utility, click continue
Select a Hard Drive to install Leopard onto
Click costume then select from the list Kernel 9.2.0, EFI v.8 MBR, extra fonts, (for sound and video, you need to find the right kext to use I can’t till you want you need to select from the list. Then click done
Click install, wait until you will see “Install Successful”
Click Restart or wait for the Mac to automatically restart. After the computer restarts, enjoy the new Welcome Screen

So I have my 10.5.2 Rev 2 running. x1600 kext is still broken after install (1024x768 screen WITH QE/CI). Installed Maclovin's x1600 for 0x71C2 DevID got me 1440x900 resolution (19" WS monitor), but now I don't have QE/CI.

Forcedeth detects my card, and brings it up, but won't get information from DHCP on the Router. Manually configured all the settings gets me internet.

Aside from those, I see no issues. Would like to get my x1600 working though :(

laxattack 03-15-2008 07:41 AM

have you installed the leo graphics update?

btw it wont let me use the activity monitor says permissions are wrong and i have used repair permissions already to try and fix that

WinLinMac01 03-15-2008 08:33 AM

shucks that makes sense. you need to repair permissions. use onyx utility and see where you get.

I have not installed the leo graphics update.

I have not installed the Graphics Update. I didn't realize this was required.

Now, if I install the Gfx update, will I need to patch with Marvin's? Because I don't have the luxary of a second install of OSX to run it from. I'll do some research and see what it's all about, as I haven't used it yet.

madoktor 03-15-2008 06:10 PM

Hi - just installed both rev1&2 - with v1 I had problems with my RTL8139C card - only works with CPUS=1 the alternative (orbtz?) driver intermittently freezed. I was hoping rev2 would fix this - but unfortunately the same problem is still present... but in Rev2 the problem with connecting to servers was also present... for both I did use the AppleHDA patcher to get my ALC883 working...

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix the networking problems - the issue does seem a driver issue and how it copes with networking when two (AMD/VIA?) cores are present - using the alternative (orbtz?) driver semi fixes the problem but if you notice ping times - some are minus with two cores, normal when using one core. I read this is a CPU driver issue, it was present on Win32 machines some time back and its related to core timing ... Anyone know if I buy an alternate network card e.g. Intel/RTL 1GB card - whether this issue will be fixed?

Anyway a big thanks to Zeph for the hard work.

WinLinMac01 03-15-2008 07:41 PM

yes it works. However, you need another backup device, i.e. another hard drive or external, etc. thats what I encountered.

I can't access my shares on my NAS. I've seen some discussion when I searched and some resolved the issue, but no directions on how to. When I try to connect to Server I can't do it that way either.

Hello, I have recently download "Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI-Rev2.iso" and burned it at 2x. I have a hp dv6748us laptop, you can find the specifications here: http://google3-cnet.com.com/laptops/hp-pavilion-dv6748us-turion/4507-3121_7-32815783.html?tag=specs
When I boot from the dvd, I get the usual apple symbol and the loading, however, after a few minutes I get a little cross over the apple sign and it continues to load but will not launch the installer. When you boot with -v I get a "still waiting for root device" error, which repeats itself every few minutes. Here are some pictures:

Yeah there seems to be a problem with the GUID package. If you enable the installer log (From the installer GUI:: Windows >> Installer Log) you see it fails as it tries to install that package.

Easiest way to fix that, is don't check the GUID Bootloader if thats the partition scheme you wish to use, use the installer log ABOVE the installer progress window. When the install finishes the 30 seconds won't count down.
Utilities >> Terminal
Code:

umount -f /Volumes/{Install Partition Name}/
cd /usr/standalone/i386
dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1
dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskXsY bs=400 count=1
umount -f /Volumes/{Install Partition Name}/
./standalone -v /dev/rdiskXsY ./boot_v8

Close the terminal, and restart. Should be good to go now. The second umount is necessary, because during the dd process it gets remounted.

mrburns05 03-16-2008 02:44 AM

10.5.1 and 10.5.2 rev1 both worked me but not rev2, attatched is my problem (freezes after last two lines on picture while trying to boot the dvd)

effigy 03-16-2008 05:10 AM

damn...i ve install rev2 but if i boot this fu**in' sign at boot!

Common Sense 03-16-2008 07:16 AM

rev2 seems to work just fine except for PS2 keyboard. Its working before kexts are loaded and turns off when they have loaded. I see ApplePS2Controller is in the Extensions directory but still it does not work. Will probably require AppleACPIFamily from 10.5.1 to work.

Installed without any problems, used the beta Forcedeth drivers because they worked perfectly for me. Added the cpus=1 so that I dont have any problems booting and using programs. FTP, Bittorent, Adium, and every other program I use works great. Booting time takes less than a minute for me, and I would say its much quicker than Rev.1 for some reason. And the best part of all is that my LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S works now. Thanks for the hard work Zeph, this is an amazing release.

I was finaly be able to install rev2, while i had no luck with rev1. I have tripple boot on same harddisk 1st parition = vista64 (ntfs), 2nd parition = leo rev2, 3rd parition = linux swap, 4th parition = ubuntu64.

This is how i "fixed" trippleboot:
1. Installed OSX on parition2 using MBR single bootloader
2. booted OSX, set bootparition back to Vista with fdisk, booted with Vista DVD and picked repair startup
3. Installed EasyBCD added everything there (i could stop here but well its not so "clean" since ubuntu parition is also runing grub)
4. Booted ubuntu, boot parition to 4, fixed /boot/grub/menu.lst if needed, rewrite bootsector with grub-install and you are done! after this you have tipple system working from same disk and you can remove neogrub from windows parition

System: A64 6000+, Crosshair nforce590 mobo, 2x 500GB sata disk, GF8800ultra (working),ATA DVD rom and SATA DVDRW, X-Fi fatality (not working - wtb drivers?), lan killernic (not working, using onboard lan with http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73317 and cpu=1), bluetooth working, rest seems to work except linux parition dont want to mount (altho i actualy dont want it to mount, but you know when i tryed i got some error, removed extfs now already tho...).

Issues im having:
X-Fi not working because of drivers, could use onboard soundcard BUT i just cba to plug speakers up and down...
KillerNIC not working, not suprised, what bothers me more is that there isnt any real working drivers for onboard LAN, cpus=1 just dont seems to be real solution + Im still having some funny issues with streaming quicktime that is probably network drivers fault. For example: without CPUS=1 im geting kernel panic after 2-3 sec streaming of quicktime, WITH CPUS=1 my video just stops without kernel panic, so beats me what is real problem specialy because one other issue is also that Marvin Tools detect some cpuid in some quicktime component but for some reason it doesnt get patched... and last one is connecting to samba shares is not working

i tried this, but to no avail.
second unmout did nothing and the las line "./standalone..." does not seem to be correct.
wouldn´t "startuptool" be right?

havn´t tried: http://osx86.wikidot.com/how-to-s#toc5 jet, is similiar to your solution.
but it is a nice trick using the installer log window to avoid 30sec shutdown and thus the need to
reboot from dvd -s again in order to get to the terminal.
under single user mode, the partitions are always unmounted, aren´t they?

I'm having the same Window's shared folder issues others are having. When I try to connect to a SMB share through finder, it says "can't connect" then i use command K and type smb://<compname/shared> and it says Urls must formated like "smb://" it's like, uh, wtf mate? that's what i typed?!?

Anyway, i can connect fine through smbclient on the command line.

Anyone know what's up?

I downloaded Zephyroth LEOPARD 10.5.2 rev2 dvd, burn it, and install it.
The installation froze at "about one minute", I rebooted it, and retried the installation. It was good.
I tried to reboot it and got a panic "AppleIntelCpuManagement". I read on forums that I could delete this kext. After that, no more panic, but the boot seems to freeze with "unknown sigsegv code 0".
I tried : cpus=1, -v -x, -v -x -f...
If I try -s I can have the prompt.
I feel like it 's possible to have it running, but I'm stuck and I don't know what to do now.
here are picture of the -v mode (rar file)

thanks in advance for your help.

What bios version do you have? use the last one.
IDE/SATA?
Disable in bios, Serie,paralell,firewire
If you are installing on IDE drive, set the HD=master DVD=slave same ide channel, disable the second.
If you are installing on SATA your HD=first sata channel and your DVD=master first ide channel disable the second.
