I did the 10.5.6 update without modifying anything and everything is ok. Booted fine from the first time and is running strong. Only if I could boot with the EFI partition and not the CD would be great.

are you using the pure boot-132 bootloader or the one modified by munky?

After that, I downloaded and used the DSDT Patcher GUI and selected all the options. After that, I backed up some kexts and data to be safe and then got the 10.5.6 Update from Software Update (not the ASU; I got an error every time I tried).

After restart, it booted! I had to replace AppleSMBIOS.kext with my old kext because About This Mac would force a logout, but that all I needed to do to get 10.5.6 working for me :)

biird, you deserve some holiday cookies for that post. I'd been burned trying to install 10.5.6 the first time and had to format and reinstall from 10.5.2.
From there, I downloaded the combo update and along with biird's explanation and AMD Patcher 0.31 got updated to 10.5.6.
I didn't have any SMBIOS troubles, but my USB keyboard's not working at the Darwin prompt. No biggie. I also had to replace seatbelt.kext and System.kext to get disk image mounting and Time Machine going again.

My processor's a 2.6 GHz AMD though. Guess I'm gonna have to fix up the aesthetics manually. :p

I'm using now munky's EFI partition way :) Working perfectly here.

My hackbook(Acer Aspire 5100, turion 64 x2 tl-56) is now up and running in 10.5.6

There was one kext which gave me kernel panic... it took a while before I realized which kext it was, but it was an old kext which I didnīt need, after I removed that one the system started.
Then it was just to fix qe+ci & audio.

And Chunnans pccard solution is not working for me anymore, I guess I just need to modify some numbers of the plist in the kext, will look at that later.

Now I just hope the Voodoo team will continue working with the kernel, and release a 10.5.6 in a few weeks...

I wanted to ask before I update to 10.5.6 if the PC_EFI v9 bootloader works with an MBR partition?

I'm using Darwin bootloader non-EFI. I tried PC_EFI v8 a few days before but it says it doesn't support MBR partitions. Also using Voodoo Kernel 9.5.0.

I have MBR and Leo4All and Voodoo doesn't work :-(
In a few days, I will change the partition table and will use Parallels for Windows.

If somebody has the window lag problem when using iTunes + Quicktime, it can be fixed by restoring the 10.5.5 video kext's.

If you need them, please don't hesitate to send me a private message.

Solved the problem for me :)

Can someone take a look at this problem for me?

My preparation to 10.5.6 was unsuccessful. I have an AMD PC with Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.2 (initial) and GUID boot loader from same installation disk. Over time I've updated PC successfully with updates patched by bhast2 to 10.5.5 (Kernel 10.5.4) It is a perfectly working system. Today I've tried to prepare PC for 10.5.6 installation using biird way (comment 22) and it resulted in booting problem:

boot0: GPT
boot0: HFS+
boot0: booting
boot0: done
HFS+ partition error

No booting. Differently from biird I didn't have woodoo kernel. Is it necessary? Surely I've missed the development of OSx86 regarding new ways of booting. Is there resources for problem like mine? Or maybe there will be patched version of 10.5.6 or won't be anymore patched updates?

P.S. I'm doing initial updates to a testing version of Leo on different partition which is however is on the same disk as my working Leo.

Kerenel Panic

After updating to 10.5.6 I get a kernel panic when launching a virtual machine in VMware Fusion. Also another one when I try updating Camino. Is this due to a mismatch between the kernel and System version? Im using the Voodoo 9.5 kernel.
