i am on my way with this distro. install went fine so far.(sb600, ppf2)

but it hangs halfway in the gui, blue background and mouse pointer, but no further.
only thing working is booting with -x.

one thing i might try is installing without gfx drivers / removing ati..2000.kexts.

mandatory options for my AMD machine are voodoo kernel and DSDT patch and chipset driver, right?

btw: i´m installing from usb stick, not dvd.. :)

EDIT: i removed ati 2000 kext and installed anew. working fine so far ;)

You don't need DSDT. It's there only as a last resort. You do need Voodoo kernel and the chipset driver.

What options?

What options would you recommend with

E8400 - this is overclocked to 3.4gHz
8Gb DDR2
Motherboard Gigabyte P45 DS3
Graphics MSI NVidia 9500 GT (can swap with a 8500 GT if needed from another machine)
SATA AHCI 3xHD (2x750Gb and 1x160Gb)
1xSATA DVD drive 1xIDE DVD drive (can change to SATA if needed)

Should I remove unsupported cards - VStream video capture card?

Tried iDeneb and iAtkos on the above without success but got Leo4All to work on the AMD machine my children use.

Also which method is best for dual boot with Vista 64bit?

Thanks

i have the P5Q and i must say its an excellent board and iPC is working alright on it..just the audio is not working with the provided kext which is strange (@ ~pcwiz i tried a fresh install with the kext provided on the dvd but it didnt worked) i had to install an AzaliaAudio.kext that is working for me (would be glad to provide it for the final build) still no info about the onboard audio in the system configuration window though. The Atheros network onboard chip has no working kext for it, it would be great to have it but you can solve this with a realtek 8139 card which works by default i osx :)

cheerz

It's a nice image, the installation options are looking very good. Sadly the image isn't working for me, although I used both patches. My board components are suppoeted 100% since 10.4.6.

The graphics screen is totally distorted at the beginning, the lower half part is black with white blocks and stripes in it. When I change the X1600 kexts with patched ones (Natit/ATIInject removed) it works, but I still have the problem that Quicktime 7.5.5 is so slow, even the intro video stutters horribly. It is possible to generate an EFI string or something for the X1600Pro (ID 0x71c2) ? The card is not slow, the xbench reults are very good.

Another problem is that the image only sets the first partition bootable. I have my test partition as partition 2, it isn't booting after installation. I presume this problem is on all images since the Chameleon bootloader is used.

Why aren't the PS/2 drivers installed automatically? I think a lot of people are using PS/2. The AppleNforceATA driver from slashack with 4 GB support should be on disk, it works great.

Help! Boots once and then no more.

HP Pavilion DV2500 laptop, intel chipset and CPU. Celeron dual core, Used the default chameleon loader, and default kernal.
installation goes quickly. Boots up fast.. used Ps2 keyboard and mouse driver, Graphcis Excellent! Intel GM950 with acceleration GREAT, Sound Conextant HD GREAT!, SUPER FAST. DVD WORKS GREAT, USBS all work... but I cant reboot, cause I wont boot up.

Everything works very well, need to install network driver... but I can't. cause it wont boot up from the initial installation procedure...

I delete that extention ktext file, like instructed...and do a -f at the boot.

And then it boots and hangs. The display that I can see says. Somthing about a framebuffer found ..Ok...

and thats it. Nothing more.! PLEASE HELP??? anyone?

Sorry for my absence lately, was busy. Now onto the issues. I got a list of stuff here to add for PPF3:

http://pcwizcomputer.com/ipcosx86/?p=113

naquaada,

If you can send me the working kexts I'd be more than happy to add them for the next PPF. I haven't seen EFI strings being commonly used for ATI X1000 series cards, but you can definitely try generating an EFI string yourself to see if it works. QuickTime is an issue, yes, but couldn't you just downgrade it? The reason why I didn't include PS2 by default is because iPC is designed to be as close to vanilla as possible (which sets it apart from other distros) and installing kexts that the user (may) not use can complicate things. And yes the slashack driver is included in the next PPF

Thanks for the suggestions :)
