NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

Thanks for the help!

Hey,

You setup is nearly same as mine, I have the same cpu and motherboard, but I've just sold my 8800GTX as I'm not gaming anymore.
Are you running SL successully on the crosshair? I had much trouble getting the system to run properly with AppleNForceATA.kext, it caused all sorts of problems from missing cd/dvd drive to huge I/O operations. It seems reasonable at the moment but I'm not convinced it's right, I'm hoping someones gonna update the AppleNForceATA or SuperNForceATA at some point and iron it out properly.

Anyway, back to your question, I've installed this kernel and it seems to be running okay in x86 happily enough.

Cheers
Danny

Okay I'm getting some errors in the kernel log.
---------
JNL: unknown-dev: journal replay done
disk0s2: ioctl(_IOR,'d',79,4) is unsupported
warning: kernel was not built with custom dyld blob
warning: using standard dydl with patcher enabled
---------

Whats this about and can it be ignored?

Cheers
Danny

I am actually in the process of getting SL working, thank you for all of that information! Which AppleNForceATA.kext are you using? I have found several links but I'm not sure what I should use.

Thanks again

I would personally try the latest version you can find, and if you have problems then try some others.

I ended up with an older one below, the TEST version.

Hi,

Is this the same version just posted on insanelymac.com?

Also, I've been testing this version and uname reports it as version 10.5.0? I assume this is as expected given that this kernel is based on Darwin 10.5.0!

FYI it boots without any flags into x86, it also boots fine using arch=i386 -force64 flags. Seems to run pretty good with the latter.
