It doesn't actually "crash", the installation works. PPF5 is going to be out probably by the end of tonight to fix that, it's an error but not one that causes the installation to actually fail. If you boot up again without the DVD in the computer, it should take you right to the welcome video.

You can try this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=19806

However, it's most likely that since your card is old, Apple may have finally phased out support for this card as they did to the 5x00 and some 6x00 GeForce cards.

Okay, I'm a little new to this...

What are the PPF's? What is "patching" a DVD install? I've had great success with Kalyway 10.5.2., and iDeneb 10.5.5 seems okay, had a few problems with it. They've both done the job of persuading me to buy either a real Mac, or a license for Mac OS. So just wondering what all this "patching" is all about.

Thanks guys!

Hi,
my system crashes after selecting Safari. I've made a few screenshots. Look like the ethernet adapter causes the problem. How can I solve this?

I'm a bit confused by this. Obviously macs with these older cards works fine, so when you say Apple has "phased them out" what do you mean? My MBP with an X1600 works fine, as does my G4 Cube with a flashed 6200. I'm just a little curious about it.

I'm having a small issue with my install, and it could be more of an OS thing than an iPC thing, but whenever i reboot or logout, upon reentering the OS, my settings for Spaces behavior (activating on middle mouse click, switching via control+arrows keys) is randomly reset. When it happens i have to go in and reactivate the functionality.

Kernel panic after completion of installation

Hi folks..
after install completes i have a kernel panic..
i am selecting just
sb600 drivers,
nvinject 512,
smbios 800mhz,
10.5.5 seatbelt.kext and
voodoo kernel 9.5.0 because i’m on amd. i have tried over and over again with some other settings too but result is always the same. and when i tried to cold-restart, doesn’t load the bootloader and if i have the dvd inserted boots from dvd to the installer.. otherwise my pc boots on xp
do i have to select something else?
or am i missing some point?

iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Universal FINAL released, check first post for info.

recursive 01-25-2009 09:53 AM

My Rtl8139 onboard doesn't work even after i have installed the PCGen driver, any suggestions on how to get it working?

daren 01-25-2009 02:21 PM

I patched the iPC OSX86 10.5.6 Final iso (md5checksum was fine) and got it to the install phase, but the disk verification fails everytime. I have burned the DVD with 2 different computers, on 2 operating system and to all types of DVD's but everytime it fails. I have checked the checksum of the DVD after the burn process and it matches to the original. I had the same problem with iDeneb. Where could the problem be? Is there any way to continue the installtion even the setup says that the disk is corrupted.

This is the SB600 driver, would you mind adding it to the next PPF?
I'm also using SB600 and this fixed my booting problems with my previous Kalyway install.

I'm still downloading the beta so I can't test it yet.

Where I can get the link for download please....

kr_krack 01-28-2009 05:21 PM

Hi for me it doesn't even boot, "Still waiting for the root device" error appears, although it seems that the chipset is recognized. From what I read it seems i have a bad combination of hardware. I've tried boot options from here http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/in....22_message.3F but with no luck.
Here is my hardware configuration, dvd-rom is slave and sata drive tertiary master (I guess this is by default)

> Mainboard : Abit KN9(NF-MCP55 series)

> Chipset : nVidia nForce 570 Ultra

> Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ @ 2000 MHz

> Physical Memory : 1024 MB (2 x 512 DDR2-SDRAM )

> Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS

> Hard Disk : SAMSUNG (250 GB) 2504c SATA II

> DVD-Rom Drive : TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M SATA

Is there any solution or it simply doesn't work for my hardware ?

misury 01-28-2009 07:25 PM

Wow!

This really looks awesome! I'm downloading it now to test it out. My real problem starts in that I have an Asus F3SA-A2 Laptop PC and I'm not sure which motherboard and such is inside and can not seem to locate that info anywhere I look. I know it has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 in it. I know the sound is Realtek High Definition Audio. I know if I go under windows device manager there is some way to look up by dev id and vendor... I believe. Can I get a guiding hand from someone that knows please? Thanks a lot!

And I did also search the forums for my asus but there isn't anything in there far as I see.

I have seen references to an ISO. Where can I locate the latest version of this and any relevant updates? Please forgive me if my approach is wrong on this site. Any help would be greatly helpful.

Honestly, if you dunno where to get it or how to use it, then it's not for you.

We're not allowed to tell you where to get it, either.

jordan883 02-02-2009 02:40 AM

I do know that you can get it off of sites like pirate bay but I don't like that site as it's full of porn pop ups. As for using it, I am trying to learn. I did infact get a copy, but I am now getting the waiting for root device error on two different distros. Oh and thanks for your support. If you can offer some constructive advise I would love to hear it. Thanks.

My PC has two Hard drives 1 Sata, 1 IDE, 1 Sata DVD burner,1 IDE burner, I have Vista on my Sata and I wanted to install it to the IDE. I had disabled the Sata hard drive in the BIOS as well as the IDE CD burner. I am getting the waiting for root device when booting the installl dvd not the installed OS. Any suggestions? Is disabling the extra in the BIOS engough? or do I have to open the box and disconnect?

@Hara Taiki,

I am not able to install iPC OSx86 distro on HP Mini 1001TU, because of ACPI_SMC error (I think so).

Only iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5 that patches the ACPI_SMC error, but I love iPC OSx86.

The ACPI_SMC kext in the plugins folder of ioplatformpluginfamily.kext, but this kext does not exist in iPC (I extracted Extensions.mkext).

Could you please help me to sort out this with iPC distro.

Problem Installing MacOSX

Have iPC 10.5.6 Intel AMD SSE2 SSE3 iso

* Motherboard = MSI MS-7376
* Chipset = 790FX
* Memory = 4GB

What I´ve tried, disabled raid, changed the raid from ide to AHCI. Tried booting with -v. And always stoppes at "waiting for root device" somthing. I´ve been searching for some solutions but there is always somthing about sb600 kext driver, does that one work for the 790fx chipset ? Or is there some PPFs releases with this driver that I can download and patch the iso with ? What can I do ?

Please help ! Need OsX, hardware to expensive.

can't install on asus f3t

Hi guys.
I'm trying to install this iso on my laptop Asus f3t TL52 (AMD Thurion 1.6)
Chipset is MCP51 (NForce 430i)
During install I used Voodoo kernel, installed Seatbelt. Chipset was set to deafult for nforce (don't remeber it's name)
After install I get "Still waiting for root device"
Tried patching it with PPF1.1, PPF2. After that new iso is not able to install. It shows an error after choosing the language during instalation startup.

thank you so much for your time

After using Zephyroth's 10.5.2 release for a long time (a tremendous, stable build), I had to switch to iPC 10.5.6 Final Release because of some issues I was having when I update to 10.5.6, and my machine is running pretty smoothly. It even resolved many little quirks from my previous install.

So many thanks to all who have made iPC. :)
