28 and 29 are incomplete on my server

30-33 are all there and 34-36 are still being uploaded

I've only got half of what's available and I've already got 2 "parts" that have CRC errors.
I hate newsgroups... I'm going to bag this until the bay is up. (I'd like to kick the guy who said "put it up on a newgroup! torrents are too slow!") 10.5.2 is half-way to being up on the newsgroups - then someone has to put it up on a BT...

1207FX 02-17-2008 05:43 AM

all my .rars are 53,000 and some change. I'll let ya know when I get to 28 & 29 if they download correctly

7th 02-17-2008 05:49 AM

I have now from 01 to 37 but missing 28 and 29... All others are just ok

CGSHEEN, you should try downloading those again...

subsonic 02-17-2008 05:53 AM

Is there a way to tell GrabIt to automatically add new files to the batch?

I don't want to sit in front of my computer all the time ^^

compaqdrew 02-17-2008 06:03 AM

Like i said, the sooner someone kicks it to the bay, the sooner I seed on my oc192...

1207FX 02-17-2008 06:05 AM

you cant download 28 and 29, they have not been uploaded yet....... maybe zeph is being a little cute and saving them for the last 2?

LOL

seren 02-17-2008 06:07 AM

Dont know what the big deal is. But the newsgroups are the fastest and cheapest bandwidth there is. i get 1.5megs on my server. When the torrent gets up on tbp or anywhere else it will be chugging along with all the lechers and I bet dollars to doughnuts no one that doesn't know how to use usenet has access a oc192. Also about 28 and 29 they are partly uploaded 28 is missing 41 of its 152 parts: 95 97 98 101 103 104 106 107 108 109 110 111 112 113 114 115 116 117 118 119 120 121 122 123 124 125 126 127 128 129 130 131 132 133 134 135 136 137 138 139 140

And 29 is missing 18 of its 152 parts: 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 18 35 36 49 50 59 63 64 66 67

Be patient it will be up before tomorrow.

mrxa 02-17-2008 06:10 AM

guys, how can I connect to this newsgroup using SeaMonkey (os x)?
i tryed anything but no success....

thx

1207FX 02-17-2008 06:19 AM

here is an idea? one could upload/seed the the rars as they get them?

seren 02-17-2008 06:24 AM

How about we be patient.

compaqdrew 02-17-2008 06:29 AM

seren - my objections to usenet are moral, not technical, in nature.

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 06:39 AM

I will have to agree that all of the .rar files need to be nearly the same size. So I only download the files that are labeled as new/idle only right? Incompletes I disregard for now?

Puttabong 02-17-2008 06:42 AM

Correct! :)

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 06:42 AM

Attached: here is a picture of how the file's current statuses look on my side. download attachment

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 06:45 AM

what usenet clients do "you" recommend for this kinds of hefty download? Newsbin is giving my all incompletes.

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 06:53 AM

Zephyroth, I'm seeing that the total image size is roughly 3.7GB in size. Was there anything that was stopping you from including the extensions folder? A typical single-DL is 4.7GB.

1207FX 02-17-2008 06:56 AM

@ seren, it was a suggestion to some that have higher upload, I AM NOT asking for me, im good, I dont have to be patient, tyvm............downloading anyway!

rodjoo 02-17-2008 06:59 AM

@WinLinMac01

If you take a peek in one of parts, you can see that iso is as big as 4.4GB which is a full DVD.... 4,7GB is labeled on discs because manufacturers tend to count 1MB = 1000b and if you count it as 1024b as normal, you'll get that DVD is 4,4GB

Dude, I'm sure the .iso is compressed as much as possible for upload - that's what a RAR is (like a .ZIP file).

That probably isn't as much your newsreader as your news SERVER...

Jare 02-17-2008 07:17 AM

Hey, I remember from 10.5.1 that I couldn't burn the .rar's and had to extract them all, get the final .iso and burn it. But still had no luck booting from the DVD.

Is this one (parts) already up somewhere, as I cannot find it. I looked on a few placed and I don't see even part1/2/3 or w/e. Or is this just me?

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 07:22 AM

Zephyroth is up to the 46th file (it just keeps getting closer)

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 07:24 AM

is unison easy? Puttabong, can you show your images for Unison?

cgsheen 02-17-2008 07:37 AM

@Jare
Ya, they're up including Zeph's original posts and the "PAR" file.
On my news server everything is complete 1 thru 46 are complete with the exceptions of parts 28 & 29 which are still incomplete...

Jare 02-17-2008 07:56 AM

So can someone link me to start downloading? (Not usenet plZ)

do you know what is this .par file? If you know, could you explain it to me? Thanks!

seren 02-17-2008 08:16 AM

The par file is used to repair rars im working on repairing 28 and 29 par is the god of rar archives and usenet binaries

edit
nope cant recover them not enough par files to recover with should be fine im not worried,

7th 02-17-2008 08:22 AM

13 more to go =)

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 08:23 AM

really? Excluding the 13, are the rest of the .rar files complete?
So far, I am assuming that 60 files have been uploaded right?

Zephyroth must have been awake for the past 24 hours. Zephyroth, when you are done, do yourself a favor, when you are done, congratulate yourself, and go to sleep, or else your computer will give you a nightmare. Must be tired now, heh? Thank you very much for your strong efforts. :D

For anyone who doesn't know how to use Newsgroups or doesn't want to mess with a client just sign up to www.easynews.com. You can browse and download everything using your web browser. No need to download tons of headers.

Jare 02-17-2008 08:25 AM

Help, I'm using newsbin and I cannot figure out what server this is being uploaded at?

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 08:25 AM

do me a favor and throw newsbin out of the window. I can't even trace the directory where my files are being stored.

WinLinMac01 02-17-2008 08:29 AM

use unison for mac, and grabit for pc, or simply use knews

1207FX 02-17-2008 08:31 AM

the one I have is "grabit", works wonderfully it also shows you a download folder in the taskbar of the program

Jare 02-17-2008 08:31 AM

Do I need a usenet account?

1207FX 02-17-2008 08:34 AM

Like I said earlier. WWW.EASYNEWS.COM.... $9.95 a month for 20GB and it's all web based. No need for a client. Use their search feature and look for "Leopard AMD", check all the parts and add them to you zip slot, download and extract ISO and burn. Simple and its all web based

Jare 02-17-2008 08:41 AM

I can't afford to pay for anything (no credit card). ANY other way? I looked through this whole topic.. no free shit.

1207FX 02-17-2008 08:42 AM

Looks like it pays to know a little about these "news"

wish I had known before I bought mine

Jare 02-17-2008 08:43 AM

1207FX:

Did you get a free account? I'm desperately trying.

1207FX 02-17-2008 08:47 AM

no sir, I payed for mine as well. sorry for the not so good news

Jare 02-17-2008 08:48 AM

Win said there's a free account? Where...
