for ps2 use voodoops2controller for snow 64 bit in /extra/extensions, and for audio voodoohda.kext for snow 64 bits, in S/L/E, and deleting applehda.kext.

punk_zappa 10-18-2009 08:27 PM

Installed and now replying using SL. Audio is still something to be desired (garbled) and still working on it.

Seawane 10-18-2009 09:58 PM

thanks guys for the thread. Everything went fine and I now have a working SL. The only problem for now is sleep/restart/shutdown. I have dsdt.aml made with the patcher but it's not helping(although it helped to get rid of the "CMOS checksum error" during post, which kept reseting the BIOS settings).
@perisman - i see you have the same board as me. Did you get sleep/reset/shutdown working?

I got it installed but no audio. I installed voodooHDA.kext to extra/extension folder, sound came on but very garbled. Installed same kext using kext helper, same result. I cannot get the DSDT to compile without failing. Would it be better to add the voodooHDA.kext before booting to SL? Any other suggestions to get the sound going without involving DSDT?

Sound is fine using a USB headset.

roratonga 10-21-2009 07:55 PM

hi, i installed snow leopard on 3 different ways now and everytime i get the same result: after restarting my screen is black and my keyboard turn off. so any ideas how to fix this problem? do i need any special kext for my mainboard?

amd x2 4850e
foxconn a7gm-s (amd 780g / sb700)
corsair xms2 2*2gb ddr2 800
foxconn 8800 gt (g92) 512 mb

punk_zappa 10-21-2009 11:52 PM

Sound is now fixed with some BIOS fiddling.

Make sure you have modbin.test7 in your boot.plist and your disk UUID in the smbios and platform uuid.

!) Install this kexts in /S/L/E and delete the efi string...

2) or try to put the efi string in /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist not in /L/P/S...that's it

aryajuanda 10-27-2009 04:31 AM

you can use PC EFI 10.5 boot loader and use GraphicEnabler feature for your VGA.. work fine for me... no more need inject/enabler kext..

I'm having a problem when I boot; it freezes at the gray screen with the apple. If I do -v or -x I ultimately get a black screen with no text at all.
Could someone please help me? I'm not sure what you need to know from me.

Thanks in advance..

Still waiting for root device is almost for sure a problem with Your chipset. You have to add proper kext with support for it.

TechXero 11-01-2009 01:02 PM

I have an Intel Based System, with Leo 10.5.8 on 1 drive and Snow Leo on another but snow Leo ain't booting at all ... Freezes on Apple logo, if I use -v -f -x or even cpus=1 I get a blank screen ...

My Specs :

My Rig is SSE3 capable but NOT x64bit and has 3 IDE Hard drives 1 SATA Drive and 1 IDE DVD Drive and is a full blown Intel PC with a Single Core PiV HT 2.8Ghz CPU and an Intel D865 PERL Mobo with no Network card, although I have 3 PCi Network Cards 1 Realtek 10/100, 1 Realtek Gigabit Lan and 1 D-Link 10/100 Nic. The PC also has 4GB DDR1 800Mhz RAM !

What should I do ?

jamesham 11-01-2009 03:15 PM

I did everything as the guide said and got the following message on boot up 'boot1: /boot'

Any ideas?

Well, my chipset is nForce 430 and I already installed the AppleNForceATA.kext, so it doesn't seem like that could be the problem.

Memory not correct (System Profiler)

I just figure out that my memory isn't correctly viewed in system profiler
It should be DDR2 instead of DDR3 and 667/800 MHz instead of 1600MHz,
i think that's why some application like e.g. photoshop, illustrator
crash after opening :
Code:

Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread:  0  Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

I wonder how to fix this problem?

Edited:
I edited the info in smbios.plist but it doesn't solve the problem still have application crashing after opening

Good Morning
This is my first post on this forum and sorry for my english but i am italian boy.
I have one question... Do you think kernel modbin test 7 is compatible with 10.6.2?
Thanks

spalek83 11-09-2009 04:43 AM

I have snow working great, but I have to change a kext in S/L/E at every boot after shutdown or else I have horrible system lag. Any ideas, as this is super annoying (always booting into windows, inserting a useless kext, booting into snow, and removing it.. every boot after shutdown...)

punk_zappa 11-10-2009 07:53 PM

Anyone tried to update to 10.6.2 yet?

antoniofi 11-11-2009 04:58 PM

On my pc amd based the 10.6.2 work perfectly!

punk_zappa 11-11-2009 08:49 PM

Successfully updated to 10.6.2. I patched the installer first using Zephyroth's AMD patcher.

rom1 11-12-2009 08:28 PM

AMD 10.6.2 Update successful except volume keyboard (SystemUIServer)

Hello.
I updated from 10.6.1 to 10.6.2 using 10.6.2 Combo update.
Volume keyboard does not work : SystemUIServer.app needs cpuid patching but I can't get Marvin's utility to work.
Any suggestions ?

-------
10.6.1 to 10.6.2 AMD working update :
Chameleon 2.0 RC3

I did not need to use Zephiroth's AMD Patcher 0.31.
I followed netkas.org to replace 10.6.1 mach_kernel, IONetworkfamily.kext (S/L/E), AppleHDA.kext (S/L/E), HDAEnabler.kext (S/L/E) and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext (E/E)

After a first reboot I got the network working but no sound
I used "Kext Utility" to fix permission and clear Extension cache.
After a second reboot, I got both Network, Sound.

I am still missing the keyboard volume function. I however can change the volume with the slider in the menu bar.
I had this problem with Snow 10.6.1 but I was able to fix it with cupid patching /System with Marvin's Utility
It does not work with 10.6.2 but I don't know why

Reading Your post - it seems that You actually boot using the vanilla kernel. Copy the test7 kernel to the / directory of the drive, set permissions, and during boot - write the kernel full name when prompted, to make sure it boots using the one from modbin. com.apple.Boot.plist sometimes reset it's values so it might actually boot using the original one - in this case it will reboot instantly after loading kexts.

I officially give up for now :D

I tried installing SL using all the AMD methods available on the net, following the exact details, but I always end up with KP, both with modbin and qoopz kernel. Vanilla kernel gives me only reboots.

I guess I'll have to wait for a better kernel. I patched DSDT, fixed RTC, edited boot plist, tried various kext combination, but it didn't work.

I see on osx86 project that one guy managed to install SL to the same MBO that I have using this guide, but I had no luck.

Yes mate im in the same boat as you and by the looks of it you have the same motherboard as me.

I have 10.5.8 running fine at the moment but i cant for love nor money get 10.6 to work!

I have tried everything like yourself.

GUID install
MBR install with retail disc resotred to usb stick and the osinstall modified put on it
Installed to 2nd partition hard drive
Installed other kexts removed them
Booted with everyflag combo known
And i either get a crash at Jmicron OR i get a kernal panic
and when i reset my pc all my bios settings have gone to defaults so i guess for now ill stick with 10.5.8 till 10.6 is made more viable.

I'm on a perfectly working 10.5.5.right now, even sleep works great for me.
So, I'm really not in a hurry to get SL working to have a OSX on PC expirience, but it would be nice to have a working SL.

My problem is definitly kernel, what ever I do or try I end up with KP. I have no BIOS reseting problems, though.

Hopefully, there will be a smoother non vanilla SL kernel in a month or two. With few more updates SL will probably only get better till then :)

There are two things keeping you from a working system. One is that the Phenom II X2 550 runs at 3.1 GHz. OS X has a problem with running with a higher multiplier than 15 on AMD systems and will instantly reboot after choosing the OS in Chameleon. Set the multiplier to 15 (3.0GHz) and you should be good. The other thing is having more than 4GB of RAM. Use the switch "maxmem=4096 -v" without quotes in your com.apple.Boot.plist or at Chameleon when choosing the OS. It isn't in the graphical options, but if you just start typing you'll see it at the bottom of the screen. Also make sure that you're using AHCI mode for all SATA controllers until you get the system going.

I personally have a Phenom II 550 and a GA-MA790FX-DS5 (nearly the same chipset) and used these methods to successfully boot Snow Leopard.

Good luck.
