IDE/SATA?
Disable in bios, Serie,paralell,firewire

If you are installing on SATA your HD=first sata channel and your DVD=master first ide channel disable the second.
Hi there,
I have the lastest bios (fhb) for this motherboard. And I don't use sata drive (disable in bios)
I disabled serie, paralell, firewire, second ide and connect hd as master and dvd as slave, but it's doesn't boot.
I wonder if it's not a kernel problem. I tried -s and then load all kexts (kextload /System/Library/Extensions/* and all modules were loaded perfectly and no paci/sigsegv...
thanks for your help (roisoft and the others)

For those with sleep problems, try this:

Open a Terminal window...

to check which mode is active, type in
pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

0=old style sleep, 3=new (save to disk style sleep)

==============================
to change mode, type in
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 (for old style)
or
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3 (for new style)

==============================

Hope this all makes sense!

Here's my thing;

- Installed rev2 over a working rev1... couldn't boot without the install disc.

Tried various things, nothing worked, so I Erased the OSX partition and installed Rev2 fresh. Same issue...

Not sure what's wrong, but i'm not even seeing darwin now.

I tried the recommend fix here (http://osx86.wikidot.com/how-to-s#toc5) but that didn't seem to fix it. I'm using MBR anyhow...

ASUS A8N-E
NForce4
PATA OSX Drive

Worked with Rev1, but now I can't seem to get Rev2 to boot without the disc.

Any / All help is very much appreciated!

Here's my problem. I have M2N4-SLI mobo with AMD 64X2 5200+, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 7600, etc. All worked and still work perfectly except lan!

In all versions i have tested: 10.4.10, 10.5.1, 10.5.2 rev.1, 10.5.2, rev.2 i have never found a detailed working!! solution for making this lan stuff work in my mobo M2N4-SLI (using forcedeth of course). Any help would be extremely appreciated.

I have even tried to modify the kext; when i tried to insert the device id into the kext i saw that it was already there so there is nothing i can do to fix it. I cannot even buy a cheap pci ethernet card cause all my pci slots(which are only two) in this silly mobo are filled..

Another problem that i found after installing zephyroth's 10.5.2 rev.2 is that when i press restart or shutdown it hangs for about 30-50 seconds (after pressing the " restart or shutdown" button that counts down).. In rev.1 reboot and shutdown was immediate.. Any tips of how i may fix this??

madoktor 03-18-2008 10:16 AM

@trovardo

I too am facing this LAN problem - I have a Via mobo with an AMD 64X2 processor. Unfortunately I have not found any solutions to this problem as yet. Using an external PCI card have marginally improved the situation but I am still getting network drops using the latest drivers/kernels. I have used the following cards:

RTL8139C - Worked with CPUS=1, with Apple Stock Driver, worked intermittently using the PCGen driver using both cores
RTL8139D - Did not work - found no way of getting this to work
D-Link 530 TX - Works using the Rhine driver from pinxue, perfectly with one core, intermittently with both cores

I have also noticed that using two cores has slowed my iphone syncing/itunes generally - therefore there is some dual core issue here too. Insanelymac comments on this being some sort of buffering problem within the kernel - which I think is probably true and changing drivers has had minimal improvement. Additionally playing with PCI settings has had little effect apart from delayed transaction setting - which is having an impact on UDP sessions....

I think this is a core problem with AMD CPUs on particular motherboards - nForce and VIA chipsets being affected... apart from using cpus=1 setting, which wastes a whole core, I have not come up with any proven method to improve the situation... maybe others have?

So in conclusion I am still using the CPUS=1 setting to get a stable system - but need to find a solution - otherwise may have to give up and buy apple hardware...

ziska 03-18-2008 11:12 AM

In fact, i just can't boot on the dvd ... so i can't open the terminal (..)

And i think that all AM2NF3 users have the same problem ...

Anyone have an idea ???

Zeph, I reall, really, REALLY suggest you focus on getting the OS as stable as can be and not releasing another revision everytime you fix something.
OSX86 isn't for people who don't like to mod things so having your 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 version is like having the same thing. Sure, in 10.5.2 we have more stuff working, but then again other stuff isn't working anymore where it did with the 10.5.1. I can understand though having a latest version for new peeps.
It's not like we're going to install a whole new OS everytime there's a major update. That's just insane and if that would be the case I would quit using OSX86 imediatly. OSX is known for stability and not having to do reinstalls every month (year). OSX would be just another modded windows OS if this wasn't the case.

So I suggest, smalll fixes or updates. The 10.5.2 update Eddie made a while back was the best thing I've seen since your 10.5.1 release. A lot of users still use the manualy updated 10.5.1 release so pls don't abandon us. By working on the issues and not trying to release a new version everytime we can all relax a bit more (experienced and noobs)

Respect though for even making it possible for us to use the OS. If you said BLEEP it in the first place I would not run this amazing OS. As soon as I saw your 10.5.1 release I thought, now is the time to try Leopard. So I'm not trying to put you down or anything alright? cool.

Take care and keep up the good work.

Hi to all,

two weeks ago i started with installing leopard 10.5.2 rev.1 on my pc. I didn't got it to work. Last week i downloaded the last revision and tried again. Unfortunate without succes! And i don't know why.... If i look at all the configurations placed here on the forum mine must work also. Last night i tried again. I got the message "Installation succesful" (what already was great cause i didn't got that before) but after a reboot i got the following message:
"System Config File '/Library/Preferences/System Configuration/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found"
I followed the step-by-step guide given by ka911.

Here is my configuration:

MB: AMD690VM-FMH
Chipset: ATI RS690/RS690M
OS: Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.2 v.2 AMD (i did choose EFI v.8 MBR, Kernel 9.2.0)

Please help, because i want to have this running!! :)

Hey folks,

Has anyone had trouble with their sata/dvdrw drives? I tried to burn an iso with two seperate programs (burn & toast 8). Neither one worked and Toast gave me an error saying connection could not be completed or something to that effect. I can put any kind of disk in and it shows up, mounts properly, and plays properly. For some reason I cant burn .iso files anymore and have not tested making music, data, etc. dvd/cds. Is this a known issue or is there a fix?

This revision can be installed on the SATA HDD?
In my case installer sucsses launched but HDD does not displayed :(

WinLinMac01 03-20-2008 08:34 PM

it works on my system, go into disk utility and see of there is any harddrive detected there. if you can see your hd there, it could be you have a different system file type. You need to spare a partition (very easy) and configure a new MBR/GUID partition.

Have you tried waiting life for 1-3 minutes at least? If that doesn't work, restart the installation one last time and look for any specific errors. If there are none, most likely it can be your DVD, what speed did you burn it at? It should be at the lowest, 2X.

I am experiencing random kernel ( need to restart your computer ) panics with this release, something I didn't have with the 10.5.1 release. I am using EFi + mbr and 9.20 kernel. Is it possible to narrow it down somehow ? Does Leopard create any error-logs ?

allmost everything's working for me now. Tried all kinds off installations process efi mbr efi guid. sometimes I got to the complete process and sometimes (even with the same options) it stopped. But now the hakingtosh is working.

The only thing I can't get going is the smb connection with our windows servers. "connect as" does not work neither teh smb:// options. Same as a lot of people I get a message that the url is'nt right. Someone perhaps has an answer? for this problem. I hate to have to return to 10.5.1 because office 2008 does not run on that one.

Hi there,
I followed your guide. Now, I arrive at "Do you ready own a Mac ?" screen. Choose "Do not transfer my information" and then I return the first screen "Before you begin" (my keyboard cannot be identified....)
I have an usb keyboard.
What should I do now? (I tried to boot with -x -s -f)
Is it possible to bypass those screens and configure leopard later....and just use it??? :D

Hi,

I've gotten as far as the installation screen, and I can't go any further due to my usb mouse/keyboard issue; they are both unresponsive.

My setup:

Boot Image: Zephyroth Leopard-10.5.2-AMD-EFI

Memory: 4gb DDR2 800 (5-5-5-15)

DVD rw: NEC IDE dvd rw (working) & Lite-On sata dvd rw (Not working)
Video: BFG Tech 8800gt 512mb
Mouse: Logitech MX 500, Logitech Wireless & Logitech Mouseman -- tried all 3, none appear to work
Keyboard: Logitech G15, Coolmaster EAK-USI, Logitech Corded Itouch(PS/2), & Precision K8-2000(PS/2) -- tried all 4, none appear to work.

I've tried enabling and disabling USB mouse/keyboard support, serial port, and unplugging and replugging the usb devices during and after usb device initial probe.

I've also tried swapping between usb 1.0 and 2.0; no joy.

Any insight/feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, definitely, that was one of the first things I did; no joy here either.

hauj0bb 03-25-2008 01:19 AM

I read earlier in this thread that someone else was having similar issues with mouse/keyboard, and it was suggested that they insert an older usb I/O kext into the boot image. I'm familiar with how to do this via TransMac, so if anyone could supply me with that I/O kext file, I'll give it a shot.

Thanks.

Definitely. However, I'm not sure if they are "suppose" to support 10.4.11 and higher. You know what I mean.

I have two issues which might be across the board for most at least the HDD part. It takes forever transfering files, between hdds, and i cant burn cds/dvds on my sata dvd-dl.

WinLinMac01 03-25-2008 10:05 PM

What type of hard drive is this? IDE or SATA?

I have both Ide and sata.Leopard on sata, and storage is on other 3 drivers. I was attempting to transfer files from one disk to another so i could format it to be osx format instead of ntfs but it would take forever and i would give up. Also why cant I burn dvd/cds on my LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S

Motherboard: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
Memory: Corsair 2GB Kit DDR2-800 XMS2-6400 Xtreme Performance
Video: MSI GeForce 8600 GTS Overclock 256MB
OS: Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 Rev.2
ODD: LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S
HDD: Maxtor 6L200M0 (sata), WDC WD750 (sata), WDC WD250 (ide), ST3400632A(ide)
Additional: MS Trackball Explorer, Wireless Optical Desktop for Bluetooth Keyboard
Addons: TOH Kernel SSE3 9.2.0, Language Translations (Japanese), AC97 Audio Drivers, Azalia Audio Drivers, NForce 2/3/4/5 Chipset Drivers, NVidia 10.5.2 Kext, NVinject 256MB, Forcedeth (Beta Drivers), NTFS, Singleboot (Darwin MBR bootloader (EFI v8)

I'm having a pretty good feeling that could be the reason why. I don't really think it is a serious issue to look at since its pretty normal to transfer files from SATA and IDE at such speeds.

Pefect install, well almost...
Single boot EFI8 GUID always fails to install.
Dual Boot with OSX on the 1st and XP on the 2nd partition works but I needed to fix EFI ( in the guides on here)

ECS GF6100 integrated graphics board mobo thing.
AMD Dual core 4200.
Core animation and Quartz not supported, but I think this is down to my mobo as its onboard graphics
NFORCE Ethernet still doesnt work but this is a known issue and I just put a RealteK 8139 in it and it works.

Apart from that in general its solid as a rock.

I do have few issues though.

VLC, crashes when loading, as does parallels and Crossover they just bomb out instantly.
DVDplayer cant find a graphics card that is supported and front row just goes to a black screen when it loads.

I *think* all those are related to my graphics card though. I expect all of these require Quartz etc. Has anyone else had similar problems with this build? Or can give me advice?

Oddly, Quicktime seems able to play movs.

Finally, has the front row patch been applied to this build? I'd read that it looks for the apple remote and if it cant find it, it freezes or somat?

Any help or ideas are appreciated.

Ryan

Yes you´re right, your problem is the grphics card, you need another one because the onboard is not supported, i´m sorry.

psychonautuk 03-26-2008 04:27 AM

ah cool, no need to apologise, thats life isnt it! That will teach me to stop being so tight fisted!

WinLinMac01 03-26-2008 06:11 AM

However, I heard rumors that graphics is supported in Leo4All, but haven't yet tried it myself, since I don't have onboard graphics. =)
