You can simply rename the RAWX86's kernel to, say, RAW, before putting it at the root of your Lion system. Doing that, you won't need to replace the older one (that's named mach_kernel) and will be able to use it if the things go wrong and RAWX86's kernel doesn't work with your current 10.7.2 installation.

If you do as i advised, just remember to boot using the name you gave to the kernel as a boot flag. If you call it RAW, just type RAW and, just for safety, npci=0x3000 and hit enter. If you want to boot with your older kernel, just doesn't type anything.

if i rename rawx custom kernel to like jhusly, in chameleon boot should i type "-jhusly" or just "jhusly". I have a 10.7.3 installation and tried updating to either 10.7.4 /10.7.5 this time I've gotten a little further than the previous which just restart after the chameleon load some kext. But either way I'm still stuck with "Still waiting for root device." I use RAWX custom kernel on both update and the mach_kernel which works on the 10.7.3. Anyway, I use MacDrive in windows to replace the kernel.

just "jhusly" (without the quotes, of course).

okay thanks! but how about the "Still waiting for root device", any idea? Tried booting with "npci=0x3000", single user, safemode, legacy but still im stuck on that part.

EDIT : nvm, i'm already able to boot after 10.7.4 update with RAWX custom kernel. Weird because im using bulldozer but instead of 64bit support only, mine is 32bit userland only. I'll try the fix and hope it will be fixed this time! :D

wohow! Couldn't get any happier than this! Finally after few months, already perfected my lion with 10.7.4 update and 32/64bit support! :D

thanks RAWX86 for the kernel and gils

Is there any reason I should update from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 or no reason and should I just be happy to run 10.7.3 as is? Is 10.7.4 too complicating? I just updated to 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 successfully today. I replaced the finder and machkernel than it worked. But than I had to install official Nvidia drivers which actually worked better than the Nvidia kexts I was using on 10.7.2.

There's not much to gain from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4 except that it now support the latest xcode and maybe some later apps and those stated by apple in the update but if 32/64bit works perfectly fine and all your application then it doesn't really matter much specially if your previous update is real bloody.

What you did from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3 should be almost the same if not exactly. ;)

10.7.3 seems to run better in flash with official Nvidia drivers. I was using 10.7.2 nvidia kexts to get my gtx 570 to work on 10.7.2 and I had flash freezes at the beginning of most youtube videos. Flash acted weird on 10.7.2 with Nvidia kexts. I believe the official Nvidia drivers worked a lot better. So thumbs up to Apple for not being douches and putting stuff in their official drivers to make it not work right with hackintosh. Tho, some people claim they've had crashes on the official drivers and freezes I have no experienced either one but I've read comments online saying that 570 gtx an 580 gtx works perfectly with official Nvidia drivers. So maybe its certain graphics cards?

That might be the case. Mine, i have xfx hd5770 which is mac osx friendly with the earlier versions unfortunately Lion make it useless if not flashed. So this time i would be getting another card for my hackintosh enough for some editing, i believe xcode dont need much of it.

Anyway to get all 4 or 5 of my speakers to work with Hackintosh Lion 10.7.3 with my Creative X-fi Soundcard? Or am I stuck with 2.1 sound from only 2 speakers? I'm using Voodoo hda the lastest version I believe. Oh yeah, I'm currently using Leopard as my Wallpaper even tho I'm on Lion. I just thought Lion had the ugliest Wallpaper I've ever seen. I think Leopard and Snow Leopard had better looking Wallpaper that gives Hackintosh a better feel for me personally.

Edit: I probably should have posted this on the other topic now that I think about it but it seems like more people are responding to this topic for some reason... Maybe people are sick of the zillion questions I have, or just coincidence. :D
