i had installed iLIFE09.. but garageband freezes at loading...
ill appreciate any help on this thanks.. |
I have OSX installed on my K50IN using this guide (thanks btw), but there are 2 minor issues that I have and I'm wondering if anyone has some kexts or workarounds for them:
1.) After deep sleep and regular sleep audio through speakers no longer works 2.) After regular sleep, the keys for brightness control no longer work (Fn + F5/F6), but after deep sleep they work OK. Other then that, all is well, just a few nit-picky things. Thanks. |
Did you used the Extras folder uploaded by flip360?

10.6.0 to 10.6.3????
Sorry for my English, but:
I just tried to install Mac OS to my K40IN. It ran smoothly as I think it shoud be. But the only thing I wang to know is how to update the OS to 10.6.3 version. I had install update 2 time but failed. The laptop booted up to the desktop and almost everything freezed except my mouse. I hope if any one could write a article on how to upgrade to 10.6.3 so that noobs like me could easily follow. |

Ok, I got everything but restart after sleep working (anyway from what I know it's impossible to get it working on most of Asus K50IN models), so I decided to upload my custom files (Extra and System/Library/Extensions folders + DSTD which fixes most common problems with DVD drive). It works perfectly on Asus K50IN-SX152 but I believe it will work exactly the same on similar hardware to this:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 Motherboard: MCP75L Hard drive: 500GB (SATA) RAM: 4GB DVD: slimtype DVD ds8a3s Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce G 102M Wifi: Dell 1500 (chipset Broadcom BCM4321KFBG) - swapped from an Intel one The files are compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Remember to delete every custom kext before applying mine files (you don't need anything else). I recommend deleting whole Extra folder and replace it with mine, then use Kext Utility to repair permissions. Any questions? PM me! PS SMBIOS includes serial numbers of my hardware so remember to edit it :) |
Hey guys,
I'm happy that most of us are getting their K50IN-based notebook to Hack. I'm having 2 issues though, especially about the ApplePS2Controller from Rus(drake). Since I don't know russian and there is Buhgalter who made it available to us. My keyboard layout is the AZERTY one, popular in French-based countries. Next to the SHIFT key on the left, there is an extra key that is not present in regular English ones. It is used to produce keys "greater than" and "less than". I use it fairly often, but now I can't use it anylonger when I enabled full sleep support on mine. To Buhgalter (or anyone else with the knowledge), could you find a solution for non-standard layout keyboards? when I press that key, nothing happens most of the time; but I had 2 consecutive crashes so far whenever I press that key (or with SHIFT). I have found that when it boots, I need to hit the key repeatedly enough, and it will not cause a panic when I press it when the desktop appears. If there is a VoodooPS2Controller that works after Sleep, that would be the best, because I find it much better and more feature rich than the one from Rus. For instance, the 2 finger click (middle click) on the trackpad is not working with ApplePS2Controller. The second problem is not extremely serious. It is about the sound. Since 10.6.3, I'm using a patched binary that I found in this topic (I can't recall who made it, but it works great). The only problem is that it doesn't work after sleep, and the only way to make it work is by plugging-in a headphone. Any help is appreciated! :D |
you have an updated version of the sound kext which works after coming back from sleep (it does on mine), the appleps2controller from this thread works also (no sleep issues) and about the keyboard, sorry mate i cannot help you there...
do you use kexthelper? which BIOS version do you have? cheers |

BIOS is 222. Getting the source-code of that ApplePS2Controller might help, but since it is in russian, there would be another trouble. |
hmm, all the same here...dunno why it works differently
