Hey Zephyroth, I just bought a new pc with a phenom quad core, do you have any tester with that CPU? I would love to test otherwise. I can give you my specs if needed.
BTW, the system does work with Tubgirls latest release and I updated it to 10.4.11 with HChKn's installer, which still has a few bugs but I got the CPU to be recognized but I think it's only using two cores ATM not sure though... |
X-tra ---> we don't have any tester with that kind of cpu
|
Have you guys got a tester with an ati x1250/RS690 graphics chip yet? I haven't been able to get mine to work yet, and I'm willing to test.

I always would help to test, but my boards are all nForce 3 and nForce 4 (SLI) which are very common. But I'm open to test any hack.
Here are things I noticed: - Are there known problems with different Athlon 64 CPUs? I installed without problems on an 3700+, also a friend on his FX57. But we both also have an 4000+ and there were problems, like the '1 minute left' thing. All CPUs are Socket 939 with San Diego Core on nForce 4 chipset. - Sometimes the cursor keys weren't working. Keyboard is connected via PS/2, all other keys are working. - The volume control in the menu bar and the volume/mute keys on my Logitech keyboard sometimes have no effect, while in the System Preferences volume and balance is working. After logout/login it's working again, this never appeared in Tiger. I have Realtek ALC850 Audio. - After patching my Gfx drivers there was something curious: every time the desktop appeared (maybe if loginwindow was executed), my CRT monitor made an automatic degauss. After I ran Onyx 1.9 (Leopard only) this problem was cured. - There is no more loading bar 'Starting Mac OS X' after the grey boot screen, only a blue screen for a rather long time. I patched loginwindow.app to enter a CPU type, could this be the problem? - Why isn't AppleVIAATA.kext used anymore? HD access seems to be a lot slower with nForceATA. Without VIAATA.kext is also no more support for the often used SiliconImage SiI3114 SATA Raid controllers. As I was booting the Install DVD on a system (also nForce 4) with an unformatted SATA-HD (500GB) booting stopped, last output was something with NTFS drivers. I booted with my long-time-used Myzar 10.4.6 DVD (which uses AppleVIAATA.kext) I had no problems with booting and was able to format the HD in disk utility. - How good tested is overclocking? This could maybe an error source, my friend has an FX-57 and already slighly overclocked Tiger 10.4.7 had problems with IDE. We're no experts in overclocking, that maybe something for others. - The install DVD isn't booting when I put it into my 1571 drive, it's only making scratchy rappling noises. Additional Software: I would recommend Onyx 1.9. It can cure some problems on the system and helps to clean it up. Useful is also 'KeyViewer' from www.macupdate.com, it's a little Applescript that opens the inbuilt onscreen-keyboard. Especcially for Windows-switchers its good to have an overview to the new keyboard layout. Does anyone know a good demo for CoreAnimation to show Leopard's new features? To have a game, how about PlasmaPong? It's a color-spectaculum and size is less than 10 MB. If there are people who have problems with X1x00 cards tell me in the ATI thread, I will try to patch drivers. I need the device ID for this, the exact card name including manufacturer would also be good. For german (or maybe other) users: I made a Windows keyboard hack that switches Alt and Strg (Ctrl) like in the default MacOS layout. There're also versions which are disabling the Windows keys and/or remapping Caps Lock with AltGr, so it's very easy to get the @ in Windows. Booster: we need some more system infos. If you only have an Athlon XP it won't work ;) |

Posted also in my "kernel panic" thread but I figure I will place this here since most visit this thread.
Here is a camera phone picture of what I am running into trying to get the blasted install screen. I have yet to see anything past this point. I have tried the following at boot mach_kernel -x mach_kernel -x -f mach_kernel -x -f platform=X86PC (and tried ACPI -legacy same stuff above just without the mach_kernel but I think you get the point. I have hooked up ps2 keyboard/mouse and disabled the onboard USB. I have also disabled Serial ATA, Parrallel port, onboard audio, onboard lan. I am out of options I think.
