Thanks will1384 for the guide and to technosmurf for the command prompt idea. This is what I did to enable dual boot. I installed OSX first, partitioned the drive with patched Bootcamp, performed post installations and then installed Win7 using an 8Gb USB stick. I also prepared an SD card which contains a Chameleon bootloader. I just have to reinstall Chameleon after completing the Win7 installation by booting back to OSX with the SD card. After reinstalling Chameleon I then restarted with the Win7 USB stick and used the command prompt to set OSX partition as active. Btw, you can also do this when inside the Windows 7 desktop by typing "diskpart" in the search bar. Here is the screen shot:

Any step by step instructions to upgrade to 10.6.6?? I'm currently running 10.6.3 and each time I update it I get a Failed to locate smc error. Everything is 100% working at 10.6.3. Any ideas?

sorry, you were more brave than me. I left it at 10.6 because I was afraid to break things.
It would sure be nice if someone who made it past 10.6 on their eeepc 1000HE would post instructions assuming the base is a fully functional 10.6

EDIT: i"ll try this newly posted guide

That is the same guide the OP updated! I just updated to 10.6.4 but now my speakers always hiss, is there any way to fix this? I also have 2 internal battery icons now, how do I fix this?

Dualboot question

Hi Will,

thanks very much for this guide! I have a question: I'm gonna do this for my dad's 1000HE, he wants to mess around with mac ox. However, he already has WIN-XP installed on it, and wants me to somehow dual-boot it with his existing installation... just wondering if this is even remotely possible. Thanks!

My primary partition was Windows 7, then I used ubuntu live on a flashdrive to partition it so OS X could see it, then I used iPortable Snow on a flashdrive, booted , then once it installed (follow the directions) I followed the guide at insanelymac to install SL 10.6.0, then I found this guide and upgraded to 10.6.4!

For some reason my BT stopped working! I reinstalled the appropriate kept and updated Extras, BT is turned on in Windows but it still doesn't see it in OS X. Any ideas?

Kext causing Kernal to panic!!!

Hi All,

I recently updated my Asus 1000he to 10.6.3, I done some research before doing this and noticed that I needed to delete the sleepenabler.kext before rebooting. I did this and restarted the machine and now I get a kernal panic on the same sleepenabler.kext.

I cannot boot in as single user or any other option. I have tried to insert the mounted image of SL 10.6 and tried install netbootinstaller again by getting the new sleepenabler.kext and adding it into the extensions folder for some reason the kernal still panics for the same kext.

I would like to know if there is anyway of installing the kext or deleting the kext. I have done a google search and it is telling me to do it via terminal but as I try this in the installer screen it comes up as Bash 80x297 and cannot read any commands.

PLEASE HELP as i know after installing the kext again everything will be fine.

Thank you in advance!!

Kris

Thanks for the guide! Using your files and some other guides, I was able to get to 10.6.6 with everything working (sound w/o hiss, sleep, wifi, shutdown, etc.) Mac app store works well.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Issue with "system uptime in nanoseconds"

Hi - great guide, thanks.

I followed the guide step by step but I am having an issue. After I installed all the kexts, copied over the dsts file, I restarted my computer and it stalls at: "System uptime in nanoseconds: 1818304364"

I have 2GB ram (so I used the 2 GB dsts file) and I have the Asus 1000HEB not the 1000HE... Could that be the problem?

The computer starts great when I boot from the USB drive and then select the hard drive. How can I get this working without having to use the USB drive?

Thanks in advance!
