You won't regret it, but UNISON is the way to go. Installed 10.5.1 apple leopard on my system again and using that to download everything. it is so reliable, all of the files are downloading into one. 56 files so far, does any one know how I have to download the rest of the files, how would I do so?

You must wait a little bit more cause Zeph is still uploading the parts that are missing... I think that more 3/4 hours is necessary to upload all the other files... Still missing about 19 files from all 73 files.

Hey if you're trying to get it from newsgroups here is another way of doing it.

1.http://www.astinews.de/xtest-put in your email address for a free acount. (somebody already mention this in this forum earlier.)

2.Download NewsbinPro-The trial version-www.newsbin.com-insert the information from your email from astinews.
Your username, password, news group.(reader.astinews.de)-Check mark need password and username when installing NewsbinPro.

3. Once your in NewsbinPro, Go to this website-http://www.binsearch.info/browse.php?bg=alt.binaries.mac.cd-images
10.5.2-AMD from Zeph will be the first on the list click on collections. And you will see up to date all the uploaded files that you can start to download. Click on inverse type .rar but uncheck the incomplete ones 28 and 29.

4. Then click on create NBZ and save to your desktop.

5. Go back to NewsbinPro-And on the menu part next to Save click on the Load NZB Button and open the file you saved on your desktop, and it will automatically start downloading the files part by part.

Thats it!

I am using this method too, but in linux I use klibido..the thing I want to add is that you can download about 12 parts and then
download stops..then you change your IP adress and you can continue downloading.. :)) I downloaded 46 parts or so by now...

Is *part40.rar timing out around 25MB for anyone other than me? All the other parts have downloaded fine so far. I'm using Astinews, as recommended.

Its not likely that 28 and 29 are complete, right? One time I did files in a .rar set that seemed incomplete but were actually complete. What do you think? Should we ask Zephyroth? His e-mail address is displayed on the newsgroup you know. :D

I'm thinking that just maybe it had slipped his mind that 28 and 29 are incomplete and he's just trying finish uploading all of them and then go back maybe...

ran into problems with grabit(probably my doing) but newsbin worked flawlessly just parts 28 29 and 56 are incomplete assuming they will be completed and added later?

Hey WinLinMac01 what method are you using to get it from the newsgroups? Yea you could skip it and go back or try what I did and see if it works for you.

thats a really good link you gave to us. no need to configure usenet, works flawlessly, where did you find this? amazing, good one. Up to my 59th file, 58 and 57 are also available online, complete according to website.

I am using Unison for Mac. Simply clicked on Zephyroth's 2.71GB folder on the server, and initiated everything. files 28 and 29 I deleted for now whereas 59 I am still coming up for a confirmation that it is complete.

What do we do with that? I know you extract the .rar's and burn the ISO, but wtf is the .par for?

not sure, seems like you combine them with existing .rar files to get the complete part such as with files 28 and 29.

here is the method I used. easy and simply:

for MAC

1. Download Unison (http://www.panic.com/unison/)
2. Go to "http://astinews.de/xtest" and sign up for a Free Account
3. Check your E-Mail
4. Install Unison and enter the Login information that you received to your E-Mail by Astinews
5. Search for the Newsgroup "alt.binaries.mac.cd-images" and add it
6. Search for the files by zephyroth and start downloading :)

Jare use this method for new account and downloading purposes:

1 - Download one program called GrabIt at "http://www.shemes.com"
2 - Go to "http://astinews.de/xtest" and put your e-mail there to receive an server username and pass to connect to usenet (it is a free account but will do the job)
3 - Check your e-mail and take note of your Reader, Username and Password that you received from astinews
4 - Install GrabIt and use the infos from astinews to start usenet
5 - Inside GrabIt, go to GrabIt Usenet Search and search for "alt.binaries.mac.cd-images" and add it to your list...
6 - After that, still in GrabIt go to Articles and at the end of the list you'll see the files to download... just right click them and "Grab Selected Articles"

If you have questions, go to mIRC... There you'll find a lot of good people that helped me with all this...

I actually ran across it by accident I googled-alt.binaries.mac.cd-images and that what the first site to pop up, and then just did some research to figure out how to download it and of course this forum and I forget the person's name who first said about to set up a free account for newsgroup. yeah seems more and more are being completed looks to me like once all are completed and in one file then extract it and burn its making sense now .Great fast way to download it though.

Download is fast. Every 5 minutes 10 files complete. Sicckkkk

You have to chill with newsgroups...
Sometimes it takes a while to fully "propagate". I'm surprised to see so many complete parts this early. If there are terminally broken parts, Zephy will upload those parts again AFTER it's all up and all the servers have had time to propagate all the pieces. Else he'll include enough .PAR files to repair the broken ones...

Actually, I believe there are 3 incomplete files in that upload: 28, 29, and 62.

HCE, only 28 and 29 are not completly uploaded yet. We'll have to wait for zephy to show up, then he'll fix it.

The sun is great .. at least partly (if i look out of the window right in this moment we have grey clouds, no sun and it's damn cold. To be exact 10 C°) Anyways, life isn't what it was 5 years ago.
