hi, still no update on our atheros wireless? mine is ar5b95, and I'm thinking of buying wifi card that will work as airport. :D

flip360 02-15-2010 05:08 PM

wait just a bit more for the 10.6.3 update and if than the card doesnt work then...check my signature :P

teierina 02-21-2010 06:26 PM

Hi, secondary display works perfectly!

K50IN is the best Hackitosh Snow Leopard available. No doubt.

You have to spend € 10 on eBay to buy the 1490 WiFi card to have AirPort.

HD video runs fluidly, all Apps are fast, EyeTV is perfect, multi boot... a Mac Pro clone, but costs € 1500 less!

And it's all thanks to community.

mao_red 02-22-2010 02:12 AM

What's the best to use in our hackbook; 32 bit or 64 bit kernel? I'm currently running in 64bit mode.

AND

Does anyone who updated to 2010-001?

cheers

teierina 02-22-2010 05:41 PM

Currently using only 64 bit and latest ASUS bios 221.

flip360 02-23-2010 11:23 AM

here also :)

kokozedman 02-23-2010 05:54 PM

Using 32-bit here.

One thing I notice: in 32-bit mode, if you get really jumpy mouse, you just shutdown the computer, and start the Mac right-away.

After booting Windows and then restart to go to Hack, it will have the strange mouse behavior. Shutdown ... leave for about 5 seconds ... then boot right-away INTO Hack, then you get smooth mouse again.

I find the 32-bit a bit more advantegeous, because I can have the Paragon NTFS reading/writing my NTFS partition at native speed. The only drawback, is that you must connect your second display monitor (if you use it) in order for it to be detected. It can be removed, but it will not be detected after removing.
But that, I think, not everybody needs that. ;)

flip360 02-24-2010 06:56 PM

lthough good morning to all.

I've decided to redo a clean install (because I had my little snow on ur external drive)

So now here I SL dual boot with seven thanks to chameleonrc3 + pcefi v10.3

The problem is my VGA output, it is not recognized when I plug a screen above: (I searched but found nothing concrete.

I'm using for the time NVEnabler.kext 's which is in my folder S / L / E.

I may need to be change of place and put in E / E?

Here is what I put in about a Mac:

Chipset: Unknown nVidia card
Type: Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)

@ mao_red: do you have the patched appleps2.kext instead of voodoops2.kext?
@ ad_47incv: i think that you can have a second monitor in 32bit mode only, but i am unsure. read a couple of pages back for a possible answer :)

cheers

Hi flip, I don't know if I'm using the patched kext :D, it came from the kext files included on Buhgalter's v2 Bootcd.

I'll try to copy again on my extra folder.

Cheers!.

Good day!

I'm having trouble with my usb 500gb external drive. I use this on both machine (Windows & OSX). It was formatted as NTFS. Before, it can mount on my desktop in read-only mode. Then i tried to install ntfs-3g yesterday but it says will not run on 64-bit kernel, so i removed the driver. After uninstalling the ntfs-3g/macfuse, it won't mount my external drive anymore. I can see the disk on disk utility.

How will I revert it back to be able to mount it and use it as read-only, at least?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Nice! Me too, still waiting for the atheros fix, else, buy a wireless card.

Another Q, does your hackbook sleeps when you set a time? I did a test, set mine to 15, 10, 5, 1 minute to standby but it never sleeps, but my system will only sleep manually (pressing power button or from Apple menu). What should I do? TIA

Cheers.

I have recently purchased an Asus K50IN-X7S and installed Snow Leopard using methods described in this forum (thanks all btw) and am 99%on my way to a perfect install but I have 1 small problem.

After sleep, the Fn key on the keyboard does not work(for brightness, sleep, etc) , and if I attempt to use it, the Ctrl Key seemingly gets stuck down within the OS making it unusable.

Anybody have any suggestions for a fix? If not, could someone post their working keyboard kexts so I can try them for myself. Thanks

ad_47incv 03-04-2010 12:39 AM

Could someone with working Fn key after sleep post their Extra folder as a zip file so I could experiment with my laptop? Thanks

Also, if I choose to update to 10.6.2 from 10.6.0, what additional kexts/patches do I need?

BTW if anyone has issues with deep sleep try this fix: http://ipis-osx.wikidot.com/forum/t-180991

After deep sleep, the Fn key works which is OK for now

Hi there. Don't worry on updating from 10.6 to 10.6.2. All are smooth after that, no need for additional patch or kext.;)

How should I manage the first steps of snow leopard install?

Hello guys,

First, many thanks to your experiments, and the shared stuff. My English can strange, becouse I am writing from Hungary :)

I have an ASUS K50IN SX-021L and I would like to install Snow Leopard but I have stucked at the starting line. I am come from the Windows era but I have some experience with the Linux systems too.

I have burned some Retail Snow Leopard Install DVD, but non of them wants to boot, with the K50IN Boot CD v2. Is this normal?

I have decided to try the installer script. Do I need to have a Mac to do the first step? „Restore the retail "Snow Leopard Install DVD" to a read/write disk partition (hdd or usb flash drive).”

What do I exactly need to do the install? An usb flash drive, a retail dvd, a mac?
How can I make an USB installer disk?

My spec is: ASUS K50IN-SX021L | Mobile Intel® Core2 Duo T6500 2100 MHz | 4096MB DDR2/800MHz | NVIDIA® GeForce G102M/512MB | Chipset: NVIDIA MCP75L

Please help me to get over the first difficulties.

Greetings from Hungary!

flip360 03-08-2010 11:41 PM

hello there,

yes you have to have a working osx for running the installer script, partition it with GUID and then you need to restore the original DVD or image that i suppose you have of SNow Leopard 10.6 onto it. After your USB is ready you proceed to boot with -v or cpus=1 if you need it,

cheers

keresztesvitez 03-08-2010 11:55 PM

Hi flip360!

Thanks for the quick answer. I will try it in a vmware leopard (because I don't have a Mac).
I am still interesed in the other topic, install from dvd.
What can you suggest me?
Should the retail install dvd boot with the k50in boot cd? Won't boot for me, I'll try the Hazard edition tomorrow.
If not, what is the correct method to boot the retail install dvd?

Best Regards!
Adam

help me

i already updated my bios to the lastest version.but i still cant install leopard due to acpi problem..why i cant disable this function from my bios?

flip360 03-09-2010 11:51 AM

@ keresztesvitez: I havent ried the K50IN boot cd so i duuno if it works, but the USB method works and its fast too,
@ Georgie99: Try and add NullCPUPowermanagement.kext to the extra folder and see if that passes the ACPI error during boot,

cheers

Georgie99 03-09-2010 01:43 PM

thanks,for quick reply.sorry.Can i ask one thing?.From where i can get NullCPUPowermanagement.kext?any link?
And then where to paste it?Just anyway in installation iso file or just anyway on my windows?

flip360 03-09-2010 02:47 PM

http://www.kexts.com/view/16-nullcpu...64-bit%29.html

you can either copy it to Extra/Extensions through Windows or as i did, copied it to my USB installer. Mind you that i dont longer need it because the native applecpupowermanager is working fine,

cheers

Georgie99 03-09-2010 04:53 PM

i already downloaded the kext file.but it is correct the file that i downloaded with extension htm?the file name is NullCPUPowerManagement.kext.htm.or i should delete htm and so that become kext extension.then how to copy all files from iso to my pendrive so that i can boot from pendrive?i have tried magiciso and poweriso in order to extract all files in iso but poweriso and magiciso give error:extract failed! Can not create directory or file. The disk maybe full or read only..What should i do?Problem comes with another problem..Help,my head is being cracked right now.

Asus K40IN-X1 - Still wating for root device - devfs_kernel-mount: f

Hi,

I'm a newbie and I was trying to install Snow Leopard in my new Asus K40IN-X1 laptop. I downloaded the Asus K50in bootCD v2 and I followed the steps installing from an original Snow Leopard DVD. In the first try I received the "Still waiting for root device" message so I booted the CD with the -x -v parameters and the installation began. According to the installer, the installation was successful. However when the system restarted, the error "devfs_kernel_mount: f " appeared in the screen and the boot process halted. I searched in google and in the forum and I changed the SATA configuration from "Enhanced" to "Compatible" but I'm still stuck in the "Still waiting for root device" error. What's the next step to follow to make a successful installation?

Thanks

Georgie99 03-11-2010 06:46 AM

wow,you had managed to install snow leopard and you are really far man..i am still stuck on boot screen and can't pass apple logo..i still stuck over a month.!

HELP ME..

flip360 03-12-2010 12:44 PM

we have the same specs and booting works fine for me, but mind you that i used the USB install method and i have the NUllCPUManager loading during boot time...i think that you have KP`s because there is no presence of the mentioned kext, which is required (i think) for the first boot, also try and boot the instalation with -x -v or better yet try one of the distros available like snowosx...

cheers

nullcpumanager.kext or nullcpumanagement.kext?because i cant find nullcpumanager.kext on the web.

flip360 03-12-2010 06:19 PM

http://www.kexts.com/view/16-nullcpu...64-bit%29.html (64bit version)

It is NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, sorry for making a mistake with the name, and no, i dont mind, thats what infinitemac is here for: help eachother :) After i made the USB bootable, i restored the snowosx iso onto the usb for faster install :) Also try and install it this way for full OSX experience, i am trying to say that the distros may boot better but this notebook is fully capable of native vanilla instalation,

cheers

Hi,
I've followed this youtube guide to make a snow leopard install usb disk. Then use the install script that mentioned at the thread's first page. Mind that you can install snow leo only on a guid scheme partition. I've deleted my whole HDD yesterday ;) But this method works for me too. Some parts of my notebook doesn't works yet, but I don't give up. Thanks for everyone!

Keyboard, shutdown and sleep problem

Hi Guys,

I am very happy that I've succeeded to install the snow leopard to my K50IN. Just an interesting notice: At the end of the install, the installer told me that the process is failed, however after the reboot the snow leo booted up without any complains.

Only few things I couldn't fix, yet. The keyboard and the touchpad is dead, the shutdown and the sleep doesn't work.

The keyboard worked after the 10.6.2 update, but when I fixed the audio it came unusable. I've tried a couple of ApplePS2Controllers, but none of them worked.

Please advise me a kext for the PS2 and the shutdown/sleep issue.

Thanks a lot!

Adam
