Hey WinLan did it work ok installing Leopard on a SATA Hardrive

braindead803 02-18-2008 07:14 AM

Quote:

[cite] Rajmahal783:[/cite]Hey THeKing hate to break this to you but you didn't have to download everything again? All you had to do is use the orignal par file zeph put up the first one, download Quick par, and with all the files all in one folder. All the .rar's -73 of them and 1 par, run Quick Par to make sure all 73 files are good and that's it. From there you can extract and burn.
since i used grabit. and it extracted all the rar files into a folder with the iso does that mean all checks out for me? I am able to burn the dvd iso but i get stuck on the same screen as 7eventh as my system reboots. does anybody know why or what i need to do to change this? (right now i am downloading the torrent which will be done prolly in a few days to see if there was a problem within the downloads of the rar files from usenet)

Thanks for the release zephyroth.

Jare 02-18-2008 07:17 AM

Hey I hear Zephy forgot to put the medevil kext so you get a "waiting for root device" error. Where do I find it?

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 07:25 AM

Still trying. Is there a known problem for SATA HDs in this release?

Are any of you facing problems with the installation with SATA HDs??? What about the progress bar that freezes? Did any of you have you move the mouse cursor to see the progress bar moving again?

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 07:31 AM

how do you enter in verbose mode? I just want to see if I get any "true" errors? Thanks.

new2osx86 02-18-2008 07:33 AM

to enter verbose mode during darwin boot press F8 and at "boot:" type -v then enter

Jare 02-18-2008 07:33 AM

-v or -f -v

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 07:35 AM

HEY RAJ!!! IT WORKS, FINALLY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH. YOUR OPTIONS HELPED A LOT. KUDOS. I'M LOVIN' IT, LOL. :D keep up the great work Zephyroth.

Zephyroth said that our processors will finally be automatically detected. Whatever happened to that? Also why is my taskbar still transclucent? Any idea?

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 07:39 AM

Quicktime and iLife support still show up on my Update List. Why?

Jare 02-18-2008 07:48 AM

I can't get it to boot. "Verifying DMI pool data..." I set the partition as active. And the DVD gives me "still waiting for root device" error. I need that medevil kext .. HELP?

Fesob 02-18-2008 08:04 AM

I've got all the .rar and extract the iso. Md5 is correct. Burned the dvd at the lowest speed.
I created the "unallocated" partition with diskpart in XP.
Then booted from dvd, -v, ereased Leopard partition with disk utility to Mac OS Extended, choose custom installation with no "check" sign in kernel drivers language, x11... just the files for the plain OS. Installation went fine without stop. Rebooted correctly.
Booting from HDD gives me "Chain booting error_" ("_" is blinking).

CPU: AMD 3500+ SSE2 only
Mobo: Asrock 939NF6G-VSTA (Bios 1.40)
HDD: IDE

I'm using Chain0 Method with XP, being the boot.ini correctly edited and XP the active partition.
Leopard as active partition won't solve the problem.
10.5.1 for AMD worked with this system (Replaced the original kernel with a sse2 kernel).

Maybe Darwin is missing.
Now i'm gonna try booting the dvd with F8 and then mach_kernel rd=disk*s* -v -legacy -x

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 08:11 AM

Here are some of my screenshots. Working smoothly, just skeptic about the Updates that are available for download and translucent bar.

Just curious, I can't boot using GUID and the GUID EFI boot loader, I originally had a b0 error, so I made the partition active, rebooted with no b0 error, but instead it does nothing.
Does GUID not work or is it just my system?

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 08:28 AM

Encountered my first problem. Restarted my computer for the first time, and boot loader did not automatically show up as Zephyroth previously reported that it would. Instead, now it stay at the Boot from CD prompt, and cannot access the partition. Now what? Partition is not bootable. This is really upsetting. I thought Zephyroth and the beta team addressed these issues before this release was officially released. Whats up with this now? Hello? Please respond, thank you.

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 08:37 AM

I tried to use the commands to make my partition bootable, but that does not work at all. My screen remains at Boot from CD. What am suppose to do now? Thanks.

seren 02-18-2008 08:43 AM

About those with "Still waiting for root device" Please verify you installed the Drivers for your chipset, video, LAN, audio, via the "Customize" Button Left of the "Install" button. If you are still getting this error. List the Drivers you installed, what drive your installing to the configuration of this drive (master/slave and channel) Also list your motherboard, video, and LAN. If possible please provide any screen shots. Im hoping we can get this all worked out without needing a patch.

I would also like to know if anyone else is having problems with Nforce LAN freezing the whole os .. As I am. Also cant get Toast to run and QE/CI is working ;( ...

StealthMode 02-18-2008 08:43 AM

Are you using MBR or GUID? I had a similar problem with GUID, MBR on the other hand is booting, but now I get half way through and I get a black window telling me to restart the computer....

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 08:45 AM

MBR

Dude you are beyond ungrateful. There is no way Zeph can possible test EVERY system configuration. You have spammed the forums over and over. But you never contribute to the progress and are constantly nagging and demanding for more. It hasn't even been a full day since the image was distributed if you expect it to work 100% on day .5 you are in the wrong place. I'm not trying to troll or start a flamewar. Please have patience. Few are getting 100% support and things will get addressed in due time. Thank you

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 08:57 AM

its just that I hadn't encountered this kind of situation before. I am not spamming the forums. I am actually aware of what is happening to the server.

I agree Seren. He kept asking when will it be released....when, when, when. Now it's released and seemingly not 100% tested and he's complaining again. Have patience dude. I even read somewhere on this thread that even the beta testers didn't get this release to test. It should have been released to them to test and if all was working then published. Even Apple has to fix errors. That why we are at release 10.5.2. So shut up, be greatful and instead of complaining about the problems find a solution and post it. Other wise if you want no problem installs...go buy a Mac. Geesh.

I am still downloading but wanted to thank Zeph and the Beta testers for all their hard work.

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 09:09 AM

I am not another Megaargon for your information. I am not here to post such nonsense. I know who really did most of the work here. It was told in the beginning that all of these issues would be fixed. So why don't you calm down as well. Geesh. Everybody is having problems as well. I've faced worse with Linux. Patience...Patience...Patience

Just to let you know, I'm seeding as well, so be thankful for that as well...Geesh.

I installed with the MBR EFI boot loader with the new kernel, NVInject, the new video update, and my sound driver. Now when I boot up, I get half way through and a black HUD come over the screen and tells me to reboot, this will go on indeffinetly.

Stealthmode...boot in verbose mode and see if you get a panic. F8 when you see the darwin boot loader and type -v and hit enter. Be quick when you 1st see darwin.

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 09:27 AM

Studied the .iso carefully. I looked at the description of the option in the customize area, and there are a couple of typos for the bootloader. Can this be a sign that there may be other actual errors that are residing that need to be fixed? Is this considered the final release? Just a question of thought. "proud to be a beta tester, :D" not a biggie really, great efforts zephyroth and the beta team made. As always, thank you. =)

Hello all,

I try to install Leopard on this computer http://www.hp.com/workstations/pws/xw9300/xw9300.pdf. I cannot be more precise about specs !

With 10.5.2 DVD, in the Install process, I cannot find any of my Ultra Wide SCSI disks. When I go to "Disk utilities", I see nothing (No Ultra SCSI disks or DVD player).

Do I need to inject some exotic kext files ?

With the old 10.5.1 DVD, I get a freeze just after "dsmos: Starting..."

Thanx you all,

iero.

Search on insanelymac alc850, maybe have a thread with kext for Leo...

First of all, I want to thank Zephyroth again,
what a great job!

Most things work fine, except for my "Time Machine" and "Toast 8";
every time I start the former, "Finder" got restart,
and "Toast" always crash can't start.

But these situations not happen in Zephyroth Leopard 10.5.1 AMD,
did anyone have the same problem?

Does anyone know if 10.5.2 can be installed on a raid drive.

I see alot of nvdrivers installed
Is there a raid driver to control nvraid of the sata plug?

I see some people are installing it on sata drives.
