AFAIK Apple cut off SCSI support at Intel Macs totally after 10.4.1 (my Adaptec Ultra2940U2W card was working only in Tiger 10.4.1 Hack). Did your SCSI controller was working previously or this is your first install?

iero 02-18-2008 08:34 PM

@ryoken : Thanx for your help.

It's the first install on this computer.

I have another one with SAS drives, it's the same problem.

Seems that everybody uses SATA or IDE ? Strange !

Thanx again for the info,

iero.

zephyroth 02-18-2008 08:50 PM

No RAID actually.

Rajmahal783 02-18-2008 08:53 PM

Has anybody installed 10.5.2 on a AMD Turion machine yet and gotten it to work? Well more importantly gotten it to boot?

Ryoken 02-18-2008 08:57 PM

2 iero
AFAIK, for MacOS X to work with SAS drive, you'll need Apple SAS RAID Card (or how is it called correctly, dunno much of this :) ), which bases at LSI Logic controller. According to specs I fount, your machine have PCI-X 133 controller. I doubt that Apple or controller maker have universal kexts for your hardware (some of kexts ARE PowerPC only for PowerMac's compatibility). That's it :). (All this is my IMHO, I'm not a guru in this).

Rajmahal783 02-18-2008 08:58 PM

Anybody have the problem when installing, and going into diskutil to partition your drive, the hard drives show up but no dvd's drives show up, like in 10.5.1?

gaz919 02-18-2008 09:01 PM

Is a NV raid driver very hard to add , because it needs to be installed first?

Ryoken 02-18-2008 09:05 PM

I can't see DVD drives in DiskUtility, but I'm never thought this is useful anyway. Mounted Install disk can be seen in Terminal. (sorry my English, not native language :). Feel free to correct plz :) )

iero 02-18-2008 09:09 PM

@Ryoken : I have a machine with a LSI chipset (LSI Logic® LSISAS1068E 8-port SAS Controller) for SAS : http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...1-3211286.html

But I cannot see SAS drives neither. i opened a thread about this here http://osx.kbot.de/comments.php?Disc...&page=1#Item_3 but SAS is quite recent and I think that I'm quite the only AMD user to try to put leopard on it...

Thanx,

iero.

To anyone having problems with toast i ran marvins utility found in Applications -> Utilities against my root drive and it foung a lot of cpuid's to patch against. Many of them were related to Toast. Once patched Toast ran perfectly.

Tried to make partition bootable with fdisk and i only have "_" blinking.
Leopard is running fine once loaded, but Darwin is missing so i have to boot from dvd with
mach_kernel rd=disk*s*

Is it possible to install without EFI or is it required?
Skipping EFI during install may cause the problems i'm having with Darwin?

I downloaded the release yesterday and it installed like a charm.Thank you to those that made it available and to Zephyroth!!
My only problem is that i cant get my sound to work.
I have alc850 on a asus a8n-sli premium with the latest bios.
System profiler says no device...
I installed zephyroth 10.5.2 with ac'97 option once and a second time with azalia.
None of them worked.
What can i do to have sound?
Thank you
I have same motherboard and ac97 working fine. System profiler says no...

I installed it and everything went perfect, then i booted and it booted just fine, but when it goes to the blue screen just before u actually set up the account and everything, the screen turns black and all i have is a mouse, which moves, does anyone have an idea what this is or how i fix it? thanks

Hi everyone, installation went fine, and I was able to boot into the operating system with the DVD left in. However, upon taking the DVD out, I restarted and I was unable to boot back into the operating system. I tried setting up installation with MBR the first attempt and GUID the second (with it's own designated bootloader for each install attempt). However, neither of them were able to boot. Instead, I was left with Boot from CD screen.
I tried making the partition bootable by following the directions I used for my previous installation (10.5.1), but that did not work. Instead, for GUID, after the Boot from CD screen came up, it felt as it was going to finally boot, however, it went into a blank screen and the system restarted.
Another problem I am having is the fact that when I go into About this Mac, I can't see my processor info as others have said it will. I had to change that information manually. Please let me know what I should do. As always, I thank you very much for your support.

I'm having the same issue. It seems the boot loader never installs.. Once I fix the boot problem, I am left with no boot loader... I was able to get into the OS once, and that was with the DVD in the drive and no video drivers installed. I then proceeded to install the graphics update but before I could fix anything the HUD telling me to reboot shows up an I had to do a hard reset thus starting my problems all over again....

What am i doing wrong?

WinLinMac01 02-18-2008 11:29 PM

@Stealthmode, I fixed the boot problem. My solution was to name my volume in ONLY ONE word, and use MBR configuration instead of GUID. Booted without any problems. :) Hope this helps.

I have downloaded the 10.5.2 files (all 73) and heard that they were problems with files 28 and 29, can anyone tell me if these issues were resolved? the install seem to be working except for sound, seem like the AppleAzilia.kext and the IOHAudioFamily.kext were not installed properly or corrupted. Do I need to get the other two (28/29) files? Oh and I am still having problems getting to boot properly.

Thanks !

zuz242 02-19-2008 12:09 AM

these files (28+29) were just missing the first hours, now everything is fine :)
if unraring didn´t produce any errors, the iso should be ok.
problems with boot or install may still occur, of course.

Has this happened to anybody yet, I have a HP DV2415nr Laptop, 1.8 gig turion x2 processor, broadcom wireless, NVIDA Geforce GO 6150 Graphics. 150 gig SATA Hardrive, 80 gig Maxtor USB Harddrive (Leopard). Ok my question is I go through the installation, select custom, 9.2.0 kernel, MBR-EFI, Broadcom Drive. Deselect, languages and fonts. Installation goes fine till the very end at the point of "about a min", its a half a inch from finishing, but then everything stops. The installation bar, dvd, and harddrive. Mouse still moves but I can't do anything. Ok so I do a cold shutdown. And then restart, I boot from the USB Harddrive and the Bootloader comes up and starts to load up leopard, And it comes up and everything seems ok. My question is as in 10.5.1 by zeph it freezing at about a min to go was a known issue and the solution was to go back into the installer not changing anything and letting it install the missing files. I didn't do that in 10.5.2 since it loaded. Should I go back and do that? Thanks.

Finally got the .iso via BT. Usenet didn't work for me. On my news server 7 of the parts had CRC errors and repairing them didn't work.

Anyway, I'm at work, but Zephy's new installer is a no-go on the 2 machines I've tried the new 10.5.2 for AMD. On both my laptop and on a 6100/405 AM2 machine here I can't even get to the installer. They both quit - booting off the DVD - with the famous "still waiting for root device" error.

I'll try my machine at home later, just for fun, but it looks like the original 10.5.1 + .kexts + 10.5.2 Update is what I'll have to stick with... Glad to hear it's working for others though!

That's what was happening to me - only I had a bad .iso - MD5 wasn't right (I didn't check the MD5 until AFTER I burned an install DVD and it "looped" like that on me - two different machines!) Now that I have the .iso from BT and verified the MD5, burned slowly with Nero, the DVD works to start boot up...

althon 02-19-2008 12:36 AM

That is the problem. I have the right MD5, but no boot.

Cooalis 02-19-2008 12:36 AM

I've got the following problem: It installed about 1,5 hours and then suddenly my laptop powered off. After restarting OSX booted, but it stops at the grey screen with the apple logo. I installed using MBR-EFI and the new 9.2.0 Kernel. During installation I had the problem that it sometimes stopped and didn't go on until I hit a key or moved the mouse. The same problem now at the start: It shows me the apple screen and loads just when I press a key. I tried pressing a key for some minutes now, but it never went on booting. What's my mistake/problem?

I love this release! Everything worked OOTB! Thank you very much, Zeph!!! You are a star!

Only minor annonyance I had was with the Nforce drivers that refused to connect to a PPTP VPN (but no lan freezes). I had the same problem with a set of drivers I was experimenting with in Rev. 1 (check "Nforce LAN..." post on this forum) so I finally bit the bullet and bought a cheapy RTL8139 LAN card and ofcourse it works great!

The system even sleeps and resumes (mobo, display and HDD) perfect. Finally, I ran the latest Quicktime and iLIfe updates thru Software Update and didn't have to patch the CPUIDs with Marvin's Util... I guess thats due to PC_EFI working.

Thanks again Zeph. If you have a paypal account please let me know. I want to donate towards your effort so that you can keep supporting us AMD folks! :)

my problem is that after installing i reboot into the DVD to access terminal to use fdisk in order to mark the partition active. after i enter f 2 it says partition disk2s2 permission denied i also try disk2s1 and disk2 and same thing. i am trying to dual boot with a 500 GB western digital SATA2 which has XP installed and a 200 GB SATA samsung which has the OS X installed. my further pc specs is as follows:

LANPARTY UT nForce4 Ultra-D
AMD Opteron 148 2.2 ghz single core S939
ATI 1800XL 256 MB
creative soundblaster extreme music

before install i selected the latest TOS kernel and the MBR bootloader

sorry if this is a horribly reposted question, thank you to anyone for their patience
