Can someone help me to solve this problem....my sound is detected but i'm still not hearing any sound from my laptop..here i attach pictures of my problem....i;m still with 10.6.2...:(...i got this problem after i pressed something in osx86 tools..

man_of_the_oak 05-03-2010 11:21 AM

Read this "archived" version of the thread: http://osx86.net/archive/index.php/t-4409.html
Somewhere in the middle you will find information on how to enable sound. Anyway... I've noticed that you have installed OSx86 Tools... this project is discontinued from what I know and it doesn't work under Snow Leopard properly so better don't use it unless you want your system to be destroyed ;)

i have upgrade kext?

mao_red 05-04-2010 07:30 AM

does anyone uses yahoo messenger? when I turn my webcam on, it shows blackscreen. but before it worked properly. anyone?

man_of_the_oak 05-04-2010 11:42 AM

Hmm... my Asus K50IN-SX152 should be here in a few days and before it comes, I'd like to ask about sth.
If I use this tutorial on installing SL, do I have to take care of DSDT?

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...=#entry1405018

From what I see, my motherboard is exactly the same as in one of MacBooks Pro. Would any of you be so nice to create some kind of 'tutorial' - how to get through 10.6.3 update with no problems?

neonego 05-05-2010 11:12 AM

is our atheros card works on 10.6.3 update?

flip360 05-05-2010 12:56 PM

you dont need DSDT patch for K50, and as for the Atheros card, no, and i dont think it ever will work,

cheers

neonego 05-06-2010 02:09 PM

had u tried kissmac for our atheros card?

flip360 05-06-2010 11:32 PM

yes, it didn`t work for me

uwannacookie 05-12-2010 02:48 PM

can someone test counterstrike source results via steam (RELEASED TODAY FOR OSX)?

uwannacookie 05-12-2010 03:48 PM

btw, PRO5DIN = K50IN .

flip, according to my problem I think it's an ACPI problem. because it starts to load the Extensions.mkext (default kexts) and it just reboots. I tried to force it to load ALL kexts using -f and -v to see the progress. It's some kext that is crashing this NB to start.

And NO , it's not a bad iso, if it booted in Toshiba L300 and on my desktop (using rebelefi).
Gonna try SnowOSX 3.6 and give you news.

man_of_the_oak 05-13-2010 05:57 PM

Well... my new laptop is here and I am already pissed off >.<"

"still waiting for root device"

just after "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement: initialization complete"

Much to my annoyance - none of methods from this thread worked:

http://osx86.net/f5/possible-solutio...-device-t1467/

The config is totally the same as flip360 one but with bigger hard drive (SATA of course), so maybe you can give me some advice on how to set bios ? I've updated it to 222 version, wishing it would help - no luck. I simply cannot understand why on the same hardware installation sometimes run smoothly and sometimes... it doesn't work at all :S

Forgot to mention - using Asus k50IN BootCD v2 (tried also v1). and retail SL DVD.

flip360 05-13-2010 10:19 PM

hmmm, thats strange, have you tried to instal with the USB method?

man_of_the_oak 05-13-2010 10:35 PM

Not yet, I would need to get a bigger usb hard drive first :-( Would you mind telling me your bios settings? Maybe I have choosed some wrong options? Not sure if it's important since it has nothing to do with root devices but I have swapped wifi before running the boot cd...

Thanks for any advice, I really appreciate it!

flip360 05-13-2010 11:01 PM

all my bios settings are default

man_of_the_oak 05-14-2010 12:25 PM

Ok, I was able to boot using method of tonymacx86 - iBoot. Wifi works ootb (of course I mean my Dell 1500), keyboard too, only touchpad doesn't but usb mouse - does :) I hope I will manage to install everything today, will keep you posted!

man_of_the_oak 05-16-2010 10:26 AM

Ok, everything works but sleep and audio (waiting for some files from flip360 :p). I have found a few strange things though - when I unplug charger and turn on the pc CPU says it's 1,2 o.O I remember someone over here had this problem also - did you fix it? What's more - when I lock some options in system preferences it's ok until next boot - it's opened again... MAC OS X bug or sth with stuff like DSTD? >.<""

ad_47incv 05-16-2010 06:17 PM

Freeze after maj

hello, I managed to do the update but the problem is that few seconds of activity my screen bug, I can use the mouse lag but the picture that I do NVEnabler 64bits and sleepenabler 106.3

flip360 05-17-2010 11:15 AM

@man_of_the_oak: check first page for the needed kexts in Extra folder
@ad_47incv: i would remove the NVEnabler and use Chameleon`s graphic enabler, as for the sleepenabler, we dont use that anymore, 10.6.3 has a problem with it,

cheers

man_of_the_oak 05-17-2010 02:12 PM

@flip360

But I need them for 10.6.3, are these compatible?

man_of_the_oak 05-17-2010 03:24 PM

Ok... I am truly agry at the moment :P Speedstep doesn't work and this is why we have problem with changing CPU frequency when booting with battery + I still cannot get audio to work. flip360 - do you have correct CPU info when you boot with charger unplugged? I mean in 'About this mac'. If yes - I would love you until death if you could upload all the files you use at your 10.6.3 mac incl. SMBIOS, com.apple.boot.plist and others + info where to put it. I am sure that others would appreciate it too since mao_red is also having this problem from what I remember. You are the only one who claims to have a perfect hackintosh, so please help us, it shouldn't take much time :P

flip360 05-17-2010 06:56 PM

how do you change the frequency?
Do you have DSDT?
All the files that are needed (and working) are in the first page of this thread and they are regularly updated, speedstep is working very fine on this hackintosh and yes i have correct info but i dont really care because AS YOU KNOW about this mac is purely cosmetic stuff.
last but not least, i dont claim to have a perfect hackintosh, i know it and so do the other users of this thread ;)

cheers

flip360 05-17-2010 07:00 PM

[quote=uwannacookie;48132]btw, PRO5DIN = K50IN .
i dont think so, asus must changed something, they have so many models of K50 its immpossible to have the same logic board in it :)

man_of_the_oak 05-17-2010 07:06 PM

Actually not - 'About this mac' info may tell you that your SpeedStep doesn't work, as it was in my case, until I removed most of kexts that were connected with AppleCPUPowerManagement and edited your version SMBIOS a bit :) Right now it works but I haven't got sound and I've got problem with locking options in system preferences - when I reboot, it's unlocked >.<"

flip360 05-17-2010 08:25 PM

maybe not on real macbooks but i think that it is cosmetical on hackintoshes,
sound: http://osx86.net/f47/asus-k50in-t4409/page10.html

this doesn`t work for you?

man_of_the_oak 05-17-2010 10:09 PM

No, it doesn't :( What's more - if I try to restart after getting the pc up from sleep - the screen goes black and I need to keep pressing 'turn off' button until it's off. Then I have to add 'Wake=n' to boot, otherwise it will not run. Sleeping works, the same with turning off normally. I've realised sth more...

http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/2811/snapj.png

Is it normal? I set FSB to 800 in SMBIOS and here it's 3200 o.O

flip360 05-18-2010 11:03 AM

did you overclock your processor?
i have the same one but it shows 2.0 GHz, also about the logic board, you said that its nVidia MCP75L where mine is nVidia MCP79 which is used in older macbook`s and its 100% compatible, maybe thats causing the errors you have? i think that not every K50 has the same board :|

man_of_the_oak 05-18-2010 11:54 AM

Sure I didn't :) You've got T6400 and I have T6600, mine has 2.2 GHz clock~ I am going to have some fun with smbios then ;)

ad_47incv 05-18-2010 02:46 PM

For Flip360 : thank you for your reply, I will try to night, grieving for having responded so late, question
beast: how I activate the chameleon Graphic enabler?

man_of_the_oak 05-18-2010 04:03 PM

You need to edit com.apple.boot.plist which you can find in Library/Preferences/SystemPreferences

and add these 2 lines:

<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1366x768x32@60</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>y</string>

it should work like a charm :)

flip360 05-18-2010 07:23 PM

did you had any success with the speedstep?

cheers

man_of_the_oak 05-18-2010 09:05 PM

Well... speedstep seems to work, only restart after sleep doesn't.

My kexts:

S/L/E

AppleACPIBatteryManager, VoodooHDA

Extra/Extensions

AppleACPIPS2Nub, AsusK50IN, EvOreboot, fakesmc, HPETDevice

neonego 05-28-2010 12:59 PM

i had installed iLIFE09.. but garageband freezes at loading...
ill appreciate any help on this
thanks..

niadma 05-31-2010 01:07 AM

I have OSX installed on my K50IN using this guide (thanks btw), but there are 2 minor issues that I have and I'm wondering if anyone has some kexts or workarounds for them:

1.) After deep sleep and regular sleep audio through speakers no longer works
2.) After regular sleep, the keys for brightness control no longer work (Fn + F5/F6), but after deep sleep they work OK.

Other then that, all is well, just a few nit-picky things. Thanks.

uwannacookie 05-31-2010 08:42 AM

Did you used the Extras folder uploaded by flip360?

binhpv 05-31-2010 04:46 PM

10.6.0 to 10.6.3????

Sorry for my English, but:

I just tried to install Mac OS to my K40IN. It ran smoothly as I think it shoud be. But the only thing I wang to know is how to update the OS to 10.6.3 version. I had install update 2 time but failed. The laptop booted up to the desktop and almost everything freezed except my mouse. I hope if any one could write a article on how to upgrade to 10.6.3 so that noobs like me could easily follow.

Ok, I got everything but restart after sleep working (anyway from what I know it's impossible to get it working on most of Asus K50IN models), so I decided to upload my custom files (Extra and System/Library/Extensions folders + DSTD which fixes most common problems with DVD drive). It works perfectly on Asus K50IN-SX152 but I believe it will work exactly the same on similar hardware to this:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T6600
Motherboard: MCP75L
Hard drive: 500GB (SATA)
RAM: 4GB
DVD: slimtype DVD ds8a3s
Graphic card: NVIDIA GeForce G 102M
Wifi: Dell 1500 (chipset Broadcom BCM4321KFBG) - swapped from an Intel one

The files are compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.3. Remember to delete every custom kext before applying mine files (you don't need anything else). I recommend deleting whole Extra folder and replace it with mine, then use Kext Utility to repair permissions. Any questions? PM me!

PS SMBIOS includes serial numbers of my hardware so remember to edit it :)

kokozedman 06-03-2010 08:43 PM

Hey guys,

I'm happy that most of us are getting their K50IN-based notebook to Hack.

I'm having 2 issues though, especially about the ApplePS2Controller from Rus(drake). Since I don't know russian and there is Buhgalter who made it available to us.

My keyboard layout is the AZERTY one, popular in French-based countries. Next to the SHIFT key on the left, there is an extra key that is not present in regular English ones. It is used to produce keys "greater than" and "less than".

I use it fairly often, but now I can't use it anylonger when I enabled full sleep support on mine.

To Buhgalter (or anyone else with the knowledge), could you find a solution for non-standard layout keyboards? when I press that key, nothing happens most of the time; but I had 2 consecutive crashes so far whenever I press that key (or with SHIFT).
I have found that when it boots, I need to hit the key repeatedly enough, and it will not cause a panic when I press it when the desktop appears.

If there is a VoodooPS2Controller that works after Sleep, that would be the best, because I find it much better and more feature rich than the one from Rus.
For instance, the 2 finger click (middle click) on the trackpad is not working with ApplePS2Controller.

The second problem is not extremely serious. It is about the sound. Since 10.6.3, I'm using a patched binary that I found in this topic (I can't recall who made it, but it works great).
The only problem is that it doesn't work after sleep, and the only way to make it work is by plugging-in a headphone.

Any help is appreciated! :D

flip360 06-03-2010 09:56 PM

you have an updated version of the sound kext which works after coming back from sleep (it does on mine), the appleps2controller from this thread works also (no sleep issues) and about the keyboard, sorry mate i cannot help you there...

do you use kexthelper?
which BIOS version do you have?

cheers

Hey flip360... well, I use pfix v3, which is even better than KextHelper because it does even more checks and more repairs; and it work well so far for all the kexts that I use. It's not a problem of a Kext permission, because all the kexts are properly launched and in proper effect.

BIOS is 222.

Getting the source-code of that ApplePS2Controller might help, but since it is in russian, there would be another trouble.

flip360 06-04-2010 11:34 AM

hmm, all the same here...dunno why it works differently
