Just updated my intel system no problems

naquaada 06-30-2008 10:23 PM

I just installed it on my Backup system. No problems while installing but a nice welcome: The new Dock 1.6.4 isn't working and I cannot change the background ;-) Look here.

I'll replace it with the old dock now and reboot. CU!

diskeeper 06-30-2008 10:23 PM

Updated my Phenom system with ASU 0.5. Working...

My doc and background are okay

naquaada 06-30-2008 10:27 PM

I have an AMD system.

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 10:28 PM

Did you used the ASU?

naquaada 06-30-2008 10:30 PM

I used the ASU to download + patch, but installed manually.

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 10:31 PM

Ok thanks for reporting, i think I'm gonna wait updating my system...

DoiX 06-30-2008 10:36 PM

guys how big is the update?

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 10:37 PM

My MacOSXUpdate10.5.4.pkg (ASU Modified) is 78.4 MB, not sure what the original was...

is it safe to update with asu???

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 10:43 PM

Anyone can confirm that the kernel will be updated to 9.4.0?

naquaada 06-30-2008 10:46 PM

No, it's still 9.3.0 on my system. I replaced the Dock and the Finder and now it's working again. But I must admit I had a modified Finder.

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 10:56 PM

Installing 10.5.4 now... I'll report back later :p

naquaada 06-30-2008 10:57 PM

For anyone who wants to test it but cannot run the ASU, you can download the AMD patched update here.

Hm, I'm logged in at least in the forum and I'm Admin, so it should be visible for me I think.

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 11:15 PM

Maybe a little software picture icon next to the article?

DoiX 06-30-2008 11:18 PM

done

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 11:25 PM

Still nothing here... I'm logged in on the wp-admin site and the forums, but nothing on the frontpage...

Edit:

Seems there is a 9.4.0 kernel, more and more people are reporting that they have it. I'm not having any problems with 10.5.4 and 9.3.0 for now, what about others?

DoiX 06-30-2008 11:26 PM

A moderator need to approve it, Puttabong, Rogue are moderators (i think)

bhast2 06-30-2008 11:27 PM

now i have to wait for the 9.4.0 kernel to be fixed for amd

naquaada 06-30-2008 11:28 PM

@ DoiX: Puttabong and R0GUE are Root users.

Hehe, this is great. In Tiger times we AMD users needed weeks or months till we got the newest update. If it worked was another question if it was made by another guy than your main image. And now: Download - install - works ;-)

Zephyroth you are the number one!

DoiX 06-30-2008 11:33 PM

Naquaada i meant on the Blog not Forum:)
Thx Rogue :)

R0GUE 06-30-2008 11:34 PM

Approved ;-)

naquaada 06-30-2008 11:35 PM

I hate this word 'Blog'. Who used this $%§?!! expression the first time?!

pαuℓzurrr. 06-30-2008 11:36 PM

Other news: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=113288

New modified BOOT-132 allows you to boot retail DVDs

Quite big thing, could maybe work on AMD too...

@ Naquaada
Quote:

The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger[43] on 17 December 1997. The short form, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May of 1999.[44][45][46] This was quickly adopted as both a noun and verb ("to blog," meaning "to edit one's weblog or to post to one's weblog").
LOL

naquaada 06-30-2008 11:42 PM

Hm, retail DVDs have no use on AMD yet. Maybe if zephyroth is programming a patch-during-installation bootloader or something like this...

@ p-J:

Thx for the info ;-) But the word 'blog' isn't getting better with that.

naquaada 06-30-2008 11:50 PM

Now it works:

cgsheen 06-30-2008 11:57 PM

opethfan 07-01-2008 08:12 AM

So I'm having naquaada's issue. Yay! Ever tried using OS X with no multi tasking at all? It's really fun :D
(Note: sarcasm :) )

Simba 07-01-2008 09:26 AM

Updated to 10.5.4 with ASU (also updated to the newest kernel; 9.4.0), everything working properly (except sleep) for me :)

Adrian 07-01-2008 01:00 PM

- patched the update using ASU
- installed
- installed new 9.4.0 modbin kernel
- reboot
- WIN!

Puttabong 07-01-2008 01:28 PM

Hi,
I'm going to use ASU now, thank you once again zephyroth, your app is amazing. ;-)

By the way, thanks for posting the article DoiX! I'm very sorry that you are currently forced to use Windows.

bajanboy 07-01-2008 01:41 PM

Hi All,

I just updated to 10.5.4 using the AMD image file rather than the ASU updater because that didn't work for me, but now the dock is missing and I cant change my desktop either, is there a quick fix for this out there?

I think naquaada sadi that he had to reinstall the old dock but I am not sure I know how to do that...help needed.

Thanks,

flip360 07-01-2008 02:14 PM

heloo all, i updated to 10.5.4 with zephyroth`s ASU and all is well..also installed the new 10.5.4 modbin kernel and it works too :) THANKS ZEPHY and once again YOU ARE THE MAN, also thanks to all the osx community for doing such a great job!!!!

Puttabong 07-01-2008 03:15 PM

Oh and could you do me a favor Naquaada ? How to reinstall old dock etc ? You said it worked for you.

naquaada 07-01-2008 05:14 PM

For the people who have the Dock problem: Download a .dmg with Dock.app and Finder.app here.
Instructions are included in the disk image.
