hello, i have the MSI K9N Platinum and all works except the dual net :) hope this helps
|
hey thank you very much for your replys !
@ DoiX hey that sounds good ! going to look after this one! @flip360 can you please post your exact board name , and the osx version you installed , would be realy nice! and my other questions are ; did it work out of the box ? and is this " dual net " thing important ? would be realy nice if you can answer all my questons :) hell |
I've got an MSI K9N SLI board. All works quite well, though Audio and network required workarounds. The NFORCE chipset is a bit of a bug bear at times. Currently I can only run with 1 core for maximum stability. Personally I wouldn't buy an AMD board, I'd go for an Intel set up.

yes you are right , intel seems to be the better choice , but its realy expensive !
my problem is that i dont exactly know which intel CPU is fast enaugh for osx ! i m not going to play hd games with my computer , so can you recommend me an cpu that is fast enaugh for "normal" use (maximum watching hdtv ) but not that expensive ? for intel the Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R, P35 (dual PC2-6400U DDR2/dual PC3-8500U DDR3) (as some of you wrote it should work out of the box) seems to be the best one , and it would cost me around 90 € . and i realy would like to buy this one , but sadly im having this problem with choosing the right CPU ,,,so it would be realy cool if you can help me with that :) hell |
Depending on your budget, pretty much any Core2Duo CPU will be fast enough for general purpose computing, though obviously the faster the clock speed the better -- the E6xx series is a good place to start. OS X is very GPU dependent, so make sure you have a good 'compatible' graphics card with plenty of vram.

@hellonwheels: thats the mobo im getting on my future machine, a friend of mine has it on his hackintosh let me quote him "this mobo is so d*** cool" reguarding the cpu e4600, e7200(if overclocked it beats the e8400) or e8600

ok thank you bothe for your answers !
ok im going to look how much this CPUs will cost me and than post the ones i would choose here. @DoiX sorry , but were you now talking about the amd or the intel board ? sorry im a little bit confused :D best regards hell - btw this board rocks ! nice users around here ! |
lol in the first post you said you want to stick to amd, but in the follwoing post you started talking about intel :) i guess you forgot what you wanted. As a former OS X AMD and future Intel user i recommend you get an intel processor, comparing an AMD with an Intel procesor: AMD is good for gaming and normal pc experience | Intel is good for processing power and games but less than AMD. Intel is the best choice for OS X not only because Apple uses Intel chips in the new Mac but because OS X is designed for processing power and for normal users.

yes i know :D
the problem was that i was not shure which one i should prefer .. but i think i will buy the asus amd board and keep most of my components ... for the first time .. if this will not work for me i will buy an intel board. so im back at amd :D |
mine works a charm you need to build the install tho but its easy if you do it on usb first. click on my username for specs

He already bought the Premium board.

well hellonwheels, sorry for my late reply i was off for a few days :)
my board is Nvidia 570 Ultra Chipset and everything works except the dual net thingy which is not useable with the forcedeth driver, so i had to by myself a cheap realtek card :) The name of the board is MSI k9N Platinum. I have zephyroths 10.5.1 installed and updated to 10.5.4 with ASU and modbin kernel 9.4.0 :) hope this helps :) |
Gigabyte boards are great for Intel based macs but also for AMD/am2. I have GA-MA-790X DS4 and i'm very satisfied with it.
|
I would thoroughly recommend an ironing board but not much use for OSx but the stratup times are phenomenal
|
i have an "ASRock ALiveNF5-eSATA2+ R3.o" (Bios Rev. 2.00a)
its very fast and stable, very suggestable in my opinion! in german that board is about 39euro!!! Onboard Lan and Audio works OOTB |
