wow. How the hell did you fit everything in there? nice compilation. I can't wait to test this out.
|
Im going to check every single one of those boxes... jk
That's pretty comprehensive. Great job. |
Hehe, it wasn't hard to fit everything after removing Printer Drivers, Xcode Tools, Extensions folder, and the Additional Speech Voices (that's the secret, its like 700MB). I left all languages in there. I removed Boot Camp too (I could have left it but because its useless and noobs would get confused, I took it out)
|
And we're still including X11 as well, since it's not that heavy and noobs get confused about needing it with certain stuff like Darwine, which requires X11 and then they end up not being able to find it. We wanted to eliminate that, and make it a no-choice install to minimize confusion.
|
WOW i will have no idea what i will need to install and it will take me longer to figure out what i need than it will take me to actually install it
but it looks great i can't wait |

On DVD Boot or Install Boot?
If it's DVD, did you apply the PPF's? If it's install, did you remember to install a chipset driver? |

Depending on where the restart happens, this sounds like a kernel incompatibility restart (normally happens when using a "vanilla" kernel on an unsupported processor) that shouldn't be happening since the default kernel installed is the voodoo kernel (which works with your processor). Check the customization of your install and/or report your selections from customizing.

It looks like you are getting past where the boot flags would be inputted. interrupt the boot timeout countdown by pressing any key then type the -f boot flag in and press enter. |

What option did you choose for your network drivers when you installed?
Do you have the model of the computer or the model of the motherboard you have? There are a handful of nForce lan drivers out there. Look in /System/Library/Extensions for anything that says forcedeth, forcedeth-v or and anything like nForceLAN. There might be issues with having more than one installed. If you have any of these delete them from the folder. You may want to back them up someplace like the desktop. You can try the nForceLAN.kext in my signature first. http://rapidshare.com/files/17110232...ceLAN.kext.zip After you have removed the files listed above: 1. Copy nForceLAN.kext to /System/Library/Extensions 2. In Terminal write: Code:
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions && chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions Code:
-v -f |

Yes each of the three line you press enter.
The first line sets permissions in the extensions folder. The second line removes the extensions.mkext The third line repairs permissions to the entire drive. Drivers "kexts" are stored in the extensions folder. OSX creates a cache file called Extensions.mkext of all the appropriate drivers. What we are doing is adding a new driver, repairing permissions and deleting the cache file so that OSX is forced to create a new one with the new driver. The reason that we have to use line 1 and line 3 is that repairing permissions only works with Apple kexts. OSX does not know what permissions to set thirdparty/homemade kexts to so we use the 1st line. |

In MAC update there are updates for iTunes and Safari en two other, I think, system programms. Is it safe to update? |
Application Updates are generally harmless I am not sure what system update your talking about. You have a working install. Now would be a good time to backup the drive or at least your Extensions folder.
How about your video card. Check Graphics/Displays under Hardware in System Profiler. Does it say that Quartz Extreme & Core Image are supported? If you did not check Seatbelt 10.5.5 as an option during install you may run into some kernel panics when opening disk images. Try downloading Firefox and see if you can install. (warning may require restart due to freeze) |
Problems !!!
Sadly the MAC crashes after sometimes a few minutes or an hour. The system blocks en the hourglass keeps turning. The only thing I can do is reboot the system.
I can move the mouse and click on the Icons, but no other programm starts. Please help! |
There are a few things in the 10.5.6 update that are causing issues. Im going to have to go read up on them again.
If you used the kext from my signature after installation lets remove it just take make sure its not the culprit. Remove nForceLAN.kext from the extensions folder and type the following in Terminal: Code:
sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions.mkext |

In graphics/displays the Quartz Extrme is NOT supported. Core image: software |
Hi everyone,
Work on PPF3 is being done rapidly. It aims to fix all previous issues with the DVD. For a complete list of issues that are being fixed for PPF3 see here: http://code.google.com/p/ipcosx86ppf...ry&cells=tiles The ones that say "Fixed" or "Done" beside them have been fixed. Add your own issues or suggestions there if they aren't already listed. |
