Hey Guys,
I found many instructions to inject kexts into the Leopard DVD-Image, but I haven't installed Leopard yet, because my hd doesn't run (I have a VIA-Chipset - not supported in Rev 1). So how can I inject the VIA-Kext in my image? I've got Windows Vista and a Live-Knoppix. And will Leopard with this kext work on all chipsets?
Greetings,
Chris

Pls post your full specs, also what sort of VIA-Chipset is?

The only way to fix this issue would be to inject the Kext into dvd (you can find it here : http://osx86.wikidot.com/utilities-resources), meaning you would have to re-compile the dvd. Using Windows or Knippix to inject the Kext to a HD would not work cause you can't write into a Journal partition

That's what I'm trying to. I have to inject the kext into the image/DVD. But "how" do this on Windows?

Board: Epox 9HEAI Rev 3
Chipset: VT8237R
Northbridge: VIA K8T890 rev 00
Southbridge: VIA VT8237 rev 00

Graphics: GeForce 6600 GT
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200 2.0 GHz

Hey, I downloaded IsoBuster. Am I able to inject the kext with it?

roisoft 01-10-2008 06:20 AM

Have you used transmac and macdrive?

crawle 01-10-2008 06:43 AM

Okay, I got them right now. What do I have to do?

crawle 01-10-2008 07:18 AM

BTW: I downloaded and installed transmac and macdrive, but in IsoBuster I can see many, many folders like Library, Instructions, Install Mac OS X.app (as folder), Optional Installs and other folders and files. Where do I have to place my kext?

roisoft 01-10-2008 07:25 AM

/system/library/extensions/

crawle 01-10-2008 07:59 AM

That's it? I only have to copy the kexts into this folder? Great, thanks.

roisoft 01-10-2008 08:09 AM

boot with -f flag

crawle 01-10-2008 08:12 AM

Alright. F8 -> -f
Thank you very much roisoft.
I burned the image on a DVD-RW, so it's no problem to add the kexts. ;-)
One last question: I've got a NVidia GeForce 6600 GT. So should I inject the NVidia-Kext, too?
Greetings,
Chris

Nvidia-kext after the intallation

Is leo in the same hd that Vista?

crawle 01-10-2008 08:34 AM

Yes, it is.

roisoft 01-10-2008 08:49 AM

you must fix the boot of Vista after the installation

crawle 01-10-2008 06:58 PM

I know. But I have still a problem with editing the image. I can edit the image with MagicISO, but I can't make it bootable. In UltraISO and in MagicISO appears an unknown error.
There must be a way to just edit the image!?

crawle 01-12-2008 07:36 AM

Ok, I think, that's it for "injecting kexts on Windows". The simple answer:
TransMac - Download it and edit the image. Can't be simplier.

My problem hasn't got a solution yet, but we'll discuss it in another thread.

..ehm... something like "closed" !?

please give us some details, which mainboard exactly do you have, using SATA or IDE HD, a combined Mac/Win HD or a single one for MacOS?

hi, I have the same chipset, unfortunately (VIA K8KT890)

please, can you post/send me the drivers you found for this Sata chipset?
and, did you success to patch the drivers into your boot dvd?

cheers

The archive includes the VIA-Drivers (you should try) and a VIA-Rhine Fast Ethernet driver you probably need for LAN.
I had success to include them. Just use TransMac. The kexts have to be placed in System/Library/Extensions/
If you need additional kexts, look on InsanelyMac.com or here: wiki.osx86project.org/.../3rdPartyDrivers

thank you SO much, crawle! :) :) :)

@stegg: Would be kind, if you can reports whether it worked for you or not. I've got only 2 IDE-HDDs, no SATA, but I'd like to know if they work with SATA (they should, but I'm not sure).
