Mac OS X 10.5.7 Released
http://www.infinitemac.com/images/news/software24.pngApple on Tuesday released Mac OS X 10.5.7, a recommended update for all Mac OS X 10.5.x Leopard users that includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of Macs.
Mac OS X 10.5.7 The Mac OS X 10.5.7 client software is available as a 449MB download (currently via Software Update only) for Macs running Mac OS X 10.5.6 and as a larger combo update for Macs running earlier versions of the Leopard operating system. A list of specific enhancements included in the release follows: General |

AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer.kext
AppleIntelGMAX3100FB.kext IOGraphicsFamily.kext IOPCIFamily.kext IONDRVSupport.kext System.kext (obviously) IPFirewall.kext (obviously) are all new. My MacBook with X3100 graphics was really choppy with the usual Mac OS X animations, now smooth! |
worked on AMD
Worked for me on my AMD system updating from XxX_10.5.6 with the voodoo kernel. I downloaded the stand alone installer from Apple and ran it through Zephyroth's AMD patcher just to be safe then backed up essential kexts... sound, video, etc. I had to replace the ATI drivers with the ones from my 10.5.6 install, but everything appears to be working fine.
HP Pavillion a1600n AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ 2GB DDR2 RAM 200 GB SATA Hard Drive ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro PCI express Voodoo kernel 9.5 ALC 888 HD Audio |
Worked for me as well. I installed via Pacifist since this is a non-vanilla capable machine and I need the 9.5.0 voodoo kernel.
http://i39.tinypic.com/5ecxht.png I installed all new kexts except ATI and IntelGMA related, AppleHPET, AppleHWSensor, AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement and AppleUpstreamUserClient. All the rest of the new audio and video related kexts work. Obviously I did not upgrade my SMBIOS, System and seatbelt kexts for compatibility with the kernel. http://i44.tinypic.com/2q0r49k.png Since I have a 7600GS 512MB, I needed to add my Device ID to GeForce, NVDANV40Hal and NVDAResman and do: Code:
chmod -R 775 Code:
chown -R root:wheel Code:

Looks too easy. I'm downloading it now but I'll wait until my new hard drive comes in and clone my install, because like clockwork, the first time I install this OS update, it'll brick, no matter how easy it is.
BTW, Hara Taiki, where can I get the About This Mac logo you're showing off there? Me likey. :D |

Mac OS X 10.5.7
i just got software update alerting me i can download the release :) ill try it now and tell you guys if it worked, you can see my system specs in my sig. wish me luck :D (yn)
Admin edit: Moved to an already existing thread sorry didnt see this topic :) |
is there anything special I have to do to my system, (ie. use Terminal or do anything else to make this work?)
|

WORKED! all i had to do was replace some editted kexts with the wisdom of Milanca :) including AppleHDA.kext and LegacyAppleIntelPIIXATA.kext |
|
This update's probably a piece of cake for Intel Hacks.
And fair enough Hara. ;) And AMD Software Update tripped on it, so I'm going to have to download the Vanilla version and manually patch it. Bleh lol. |
True Ali C. Its much easier on Intel Hacks. As updates don't come that often I also don't mind spending few extra minutes tweaking AMD box. 10 more mins and we have no worries for the next couple of months ;-)
|
will somebody tell me how to do this??? do i need to do anything except download it??
Im using Vodoo 9.5.0 |

If yes I will upgrade. |
Just update with comboupdate dmg and install voodoolike kernel(9.6.0)+seatbelt.kext (10.5.6) and it works on my both iPC and iDeneb (AMD Venice, nforce4, geforce 8500gt 512). Should not be a problem at all.
|
(Too early to be sure but) things look OK here too. Delta upgrade, nice to see the native ICH10 support. Didn't bother with fixing the cpu info yet:

Why you are patching update package on AMD if you are using Voodoo kernel?
It should work with Voodoo with no patching. |

EDIT: did not work that easy. but i would have been sureprised if it would .. EDIT 2: strike!!!! i got my lawless install up to 10.5.7 ;) the 10.5.6 update failed on me (or at least the gfx acceleration) but now everything is fine so far, my clone install got finally updated .. i used the AMD patcher to rid the combo update package of the kernel and the IntelCPUman..kext, got some decrypts (should not be neccessary as im on voodoo). after 2 restarts an some waitingtime everthing is up again ... |
Using OS X 10.5.7 now, works great w/GFX update!
|
hate to be a n00b her but, im currently running ipc 10.5.6 final, and ive tryed updateing to 10.5.7 with no luck, tryed searching but aint quite sure what to search for, could someone please point me in the right direction...?

install reboot Then boot with ur iPC 10.5.6 and install only ur Kernel 9.5.0 disable (iPC 10.5.6) and reboot and ready! It will run. PS: After installing with pacifist I had problems when repair permissions it always saying that SSUID: the file /usr/xxxxxxx has ben modified and cant be repaired. Dont know how to fix that thow. |
does anyone here know what new hardware is supported natively on the new 10.5.7 update if any new ones are supported? because it seems that they add support for new hardware every update. most likely graphics cards. so does anyone know what the new natively supported hardware is?
|
@ Aydinz; Apple now officially provides support for the Radeon HD 4870 with the 10.5.7 update.
|
Thanks rogue, will try that now :)
update... I keep getting the "still waiting for root device" message after update... Will try some more, and if anyone got a suggestion im all open :) |
The SATA drive came in. And it took me from a minute to boot OS X to 2 seconds. W00t.:D
Anyway, I'm gonna install the update like Hara did. AFTER I use Carbon Copy Cloner on my partition of course.;) |
Successful & Easy installation of 10.5.7 on AMD
1 Attachment(s)
1) Downloaded standalone install and patched it with zephyroth AMD patcher 3.1
2) After install I rebooted into single user ( -s ) and removed the nvidia drivers (rm -Rf /System/Library/Extensions/NV* & rm -Rf /System/Library/Extensions/Ge*). 3) rebooted into safebot (-x) and install graphics drivers for my 6800xt. I also install audio drivers & nforcelan kext with kext helper just to be sure. 4) rebooted into single user mode again ( -s ) and applied my Dev. ID to NVDAN40.kext & NVDAResman.kext and rebooted with 'reboot -l'. And that was that. Everything is working fine now. SPECS: Gigabyte GA-M51GM-S2G AMD 3800+ 1 SATA SAMSUNG Super Write Master 1 ATA SAMSUNG Super Write Master PCIE 6800xt 256 3 GB @ 677 iPC 10.5.6 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ !!!UPDATE!!! iPod no long mounting. I have realized that My iPod is no longer being mounted on my desktop or in disk utility. System Profiler sees it which is weird, if anyone has any suggestions please let me know !!!UPDATE #2!!! Ok so I obviously jumped the gun on this one. Right now No DMG's are mounting and neither is my ipod. I tried to replace a few kexts files (AppleHDA, Seatbelt, System, AppleInterPower...,) and a few others but nothing helped. I will be performing ARCHIVE AND INSTALL which will go a little somethin like this .. 1) boot to install dvd 2) open terminal from utilities menu on install DVD 3) Use 'rm -Rf' command to remove all files & folders but /Users & Applications 4) reinstall. Hopefully I can find a proper guide on how to install for AMD. I have not found one good guide other than people saying "i did this... i did that... " with no steps or guidance of any sort on how they accomoplished this. I am not new to OSX86 but im am certainly not an expert. If some one has suggestions please let me know. |
Unfortunately, I'd made a near-fatal mistake when I installed the update with Pacifist. I unselected one too many things, causing OS X to gawk and hang up instead of boot (curse you, BootCache!). Not wanting to dig up the lone, delicate install CD (which is mandatory for restoring a Carbon Copy Cloner image on a failed Hack lol) I went with another idea and whipped out the old drive I just replaced and reinstalled the update to the new drive, followed by all the needed kexts. Rebooted into the new drive, and presto! Works fine. Saved half an hour that way. ;)
The moral of the story - with this update, it's better to uncheck too few kexts than too many, so be careful and if you're not sure leave the sucker checked. Happy updating! :D |
Updated successfully iDeneb 10.5.6 to 10.5.7.
Steps to update: 1. backup your voodoo kernel (sudo cp/mach_kernel /mach_kernel.voodoo) 2. update with apple's software update 3. on the next boot, boot with mach_kernel.voodoo 4. copy the voodoo kernel over the original apple kernel (cp /mach_kernel.voodoo /mach_kernel) |
hello all,
i have succsefully updated my iPC 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 following the netkas method (the simple one). all i had to do is patch my sound again and that was it. System seems a little more responsive. |

1) make sure you have dsmos/appledecrypt and appleintelcpupm disabler kexts installed to /Extra
2) update ich10r users - you dont need legacy kexts for ich10/ahci anymore, 10.5.7 supports ich10r out of box (since new macpros has ich10r), need only legacy ahciblockstorage, to fix orange icons. This is taken from netkas`s site and even the shutdown/restart seems to work :) I have vanilla kernel and a patch for the audio. |

Successfully installed. Now using stock kexts from Apple for graphics, for some strange reason my system is not loading AppleIntelIntegratedFramebuffer. Still using VoodooHDA, and still having usb issues. But it works like a charm. |
hei
didn`t worked for me ... i lost everything now

Upgraded my 10.5.6 retail installed using Boot-132 method.
All works fine. Just in case, before clicking Restart I've reinstalled Voodoo Kernel. |

You can "Archive & Install" by following my instructions.
Quote:
1) boot to your hackintosh install DVD 2) Choose a language and on the next screen open 'Terminal' from the 'Utilities menu' at the top. 3) Use the "ls" command to view the folders. 4) remove everything with the "rm -Rf" command EXCEPT for /Users & /Applications 5) when only /Users & /Applications remain, install the OS. When the OS has finished installing you may have to do your necessary haxies to get it working, but once its up you should have your user account and applications. I have done this more than enough times and it has worked every time on my AMD setup. Good luck. |
Ok so my 10.5.7 on AMD has Two Slight bugs. Please Help.
Im working on one of the bugs now which is the fact that my iPod is no longer mounting and neither are my DMG's but EVERYTHING works so far LOL.
I am currently using pacifist to extraxt the IOUSBMassStorageClass kext from my hackint0sh leopard DVD and I am Hoping that will fix the iPod issue but I have a feeling it wont :(, i geuss we will see. I have reinstalled the seatbelt.kext but that did not help. If anyone has any suggestions please PM me. This isnt THAT big of a deal so i want to lay off with my planned "Archive & Install" for just a bit longer |
Success on a Intel DP43TF, iPC 10.5.6 --> 10.5.7
10.5.7 update working well from iPC 10.5.6 initial Vanilla install
Hardware: Intel DP43TF, Q9550S Core 2 Quad, 6GB DDR2-800 XFX GF 8600GT 256MB, HP SATA DVD, Western Digital Caviar SATA drives 10.5.6 install required: -EFI Studio applied boot string for GF 8600GT (QE/CI/QGL all working) -ICH10 storage kext selected on install -Intel 82566 ethernet kext selected on install -SMBIOSResolver selected on install -Patched USB Drivers selected on install -Required a kext from www.kexts.com to support the ALC888vc audio codec -Had to disable AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext to fix the jumpy mouse/stuttering Quicktime video bug. After 10.5.7 update (By downloading the Delta update, not by Software update), some things improved: -No change required to EFI boot string for GF 8600GT- continued working as before -ICH10 storage kext no longer needed! -Did not need to reapply Intel 82566 ethernet kext (not overwritten or now has native support, unsure which) -Did not need to reapply SMBIOSResolver (expected since it leaves vanilla untouched?) -ALC888vc kext from www.kexts.com no longer needed! -Did have to reapply Patched USB drivers from iPC 10.5.6, otherwise external USB drives failed to connect -STILL had to disable the AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext. Jumpy mouse/Quicktime video problem came back immediately after 10.5.7 booted. In 10.5.7 just as in 10.5.6, Sleep does not work for me. System either turns off or a message pops up telling me to turn it off (and in 5 different languages, too). Disappointing since this board is on the HCL on wiki.osx86project.org as everything working, including sleep. But I can live without that feature. |

I upgraded to 10.5.7 from apple update, then not restart and install AnV_XNU_9.6.0_kernel_V1.4... a couple of reboots and system is working.
Only problem, audio disappeared and in system profiler an error on hardware summary. Reinstalled Taruga's rev3 drivers and an applesmbios kext. Now it seems to be all ok... My system is seen as a MacBookPro5,1... is it a problem? must i look for something else wrong? I'm on a backup's disk system cloned from the one i normally use... Can i safely upgrade it in this way? |
lets say I wanted to update from 10.5.5 to 10.5.7. Should I expect to run into many problems?

This is NOT true : "-ALC888vc kext from www.kexts.com no longer needed" Turns out it is still needed. And though it works without doing so, I still disabled AppleHDA.kext as per the instructions for that kext. And I had to remove JMicronATA.kext. It was present from my initial 10.5.6 setup, but no longer needed unless I also wanted ATA support, but this rig is all SATA. |
update whent great but there were a few things not working dmg files would not mount , fixed that with the seatbelt fix. but still have not found a solution for my iphone it just will not mount it even wont charge, i can see that its pluged in to the usb system but its not reconiced
|
iPhone won't mount..

I just installed 10.5.7 and it works for the most part. My wireless card still cuts out and I have no sound ATM but I can survive. It seems seatbelt.kext isn't needed anymore for mounting dmgs, it actually CAUSED a kernel panic. I backed it up and removed it, rebooted and dmgs mount perfectly fine now.
The only thing I'm hoping won't cause problems is that system info shows my CPU as a 200MHz unknown, I have an Intel C2Q Q6600. I'm not sure why it's not reading it right but it doesn't seem to slow down the system at all. Appears to be running at full speed. |
