Have you tried updating iTunes ? Or does it work with other computer ? Does it see the iPhone with "Image Capture" app ? You can also check if there's an AppleMobileDevice.kext loaded in Extensions section, or enter recovery mode in the iPhone and check if iTunes will see it.

itunes is fully updated , Iphone works when i dual boot to xp,
there is applemobile divice in extension.

anything else ?
The iphone did connect when i was on 10.5.5 , but diden't after updating to 10.5.6 and 10.5.7

I call kext problem. Pick up a System.kext from 10.5.5 so it matches your apparent kernel version. Then it should work fine.
In the meantime, to confirm this is the problem, leave the iPhone plugged in and reboot. If suddenly at bootup it detects the iPhone and opens iTunes, then it's oh-so-clearly the kext.

i call start up issue... try restarting and keeping it plugged in, it fixed it for my touch.

IMO it sounds like you have the same kext problem. :p Of course that's not to say there isn't a funny startup bug going around, either. :(

Taisto 06-02-2009 12:05 AM

It just came into my mind...putting iPhone in Restore Mode or DFU Mode could fix the problem if it's iPhone's fault. At least i have fixed mine this way some time ago when my Computer didnt see it. Not sure, but it might be worth a try.

xXrkidXx 06-02-2009 12:19 AM

maybe, but all i had to do was start it once and its been wroking, after numerous restarts without having it plugged in

and i personally dont care, everythings working xD

zeromancer 06-07-2009 02:50 PM

well it's still not working here :/

xXrkidXx 06-07-2009 06:53 PM

well mine was only a tempory fix... get the 9.5.5 System.kext, it fixes the mounting issues.

ok , it looks like i was able to see my iphone when i plugged in into a different cable and plugged it in before start up, same goes for all my other equipment btw , otherwise osx doesn't see any of them.
Still the problem is not fixed since i have to plug-in my iphone or extern hd everytime BEFORE i boot :/

1 Attachment(s)
ok heres what I did, tell me if you did the same thing, download Attachment, go to S/L/E and delete System.kext(if theres another file with tht name but not .kext leave it) Open OSx86 Tools and instal kexts and select my system.kext. Reboot with -v and everything will get noticed :)

Hmmmmmm.
Find out what kernel you're using. Because this is very clearly from System.kext not liking that kernel. It could well be one of those old 9.2 kernels or something.

zeromancer 06-08-2009 06:32 PM

i'm using voodoo 9.5
