iATKOS v7
Hello all,
Here is what I have done so far... burned the image using magic iso success first time.. I was surprised. tried installing on an 80g sata drive which has been formatted and ergo is empty ASUS M2A-VM mobo AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ Cpu Socket Socket AM2 (940) 4gb - 2x2gb ddr2 ram 667mhz 80gb sata for the installation I recently bought the 4gb kit to make sure that the system could handle it, and i have posted my system on other forums to get advice no luck so far, but it seems that my system is running a little slower and now wacky than b4. I also think that the mobo is not capable. Any how i tried installing it and all i got was the apple logo screen with a continuous timer and a no entry sign. I tried something else, don't really know what I did but it got to the point of being stuck on finding a root system device. Anyhelp will be great, as I am sick of windows and microsoft and I am a poor student who is saving up for a mac! Until that happens I wanna try this. |

NVidia 9600GT 1MB
I have successfully installed iATKOS v7 on a dual boot PC with a Gigabyte mobo - everything works well with the exception of the video card (Nvidia 9600GT 1MB) which limits my resolution to 1024x768x32 ... any suggestions on what is the easiest way of fixing this .. I have a monitor capable of displaying 1360x768x32 and would like to acheive this resolution.
I have modified the .plist without success. |

Brilliant! Thank you very much ... it worked ... now I have a full range of resolutions available.
Your solution should be pinned for other users who have had the same problem and, judging by google queires, been messing about with sometimes less then adequate results. Once again, thank you! |
hi, Not to sure what to make of this but i installed iatkos v7 onto my Dell inspiron 6400 laptop all seems to go well until reboot when all i get is a disco track playing but no video(gui), tried various boots -v -f etc still comes back to the same thing, with no report of a failier.
I have reinstalled a few times with different customizations but no luck, i realise it may well be video driver related but to be honest im stumped, I have managed to install IPC version but had problems with audio so thought i would try another distro, I will keep trying different customizations but a pointer or 2 would be nice. Cheers Raz |
I finally got iTKOS V7 to boot on my Dell XPS M170. Here are my problems.
Keyboard doesnt work. ( I plugged in a usb keyboard to finish install.) Mouse Trackpad doesnt work. (I plugged in a usb Microsoft inteli mouse.) No sound at all. No network or wireless devices work. Can anyone help me i would really appreciate it. Kind of new to this mac thingy. Thanxs. |
i downloaded iATKOS v7 via tpb the checksums are as follows
CRC32: CCC9A803 MD5: 6395BE5253F53F716ED042DB1DD599F3 SHA-1: 4712B9A9354E3591974CFD3C6A453CEC1157E5A5 is this the right values? if so why when i burn the dvd there's only 480kbs worth of files written? i used IMGBurn if that helps? |
is there away to make a bootable flash drive using the iso?
|
iAtkos v7 doesn't boot
Thanks for the great work...
Installed iAtkos...installation was very smooth. But after that it doesn't boot....it shows a blank screen with a binking cursor. System Hardware is Intel Core 2 Dou 2.2 ghz Intel 945 gcnl motherboard. 160 gb seagate sata hard disk. There is no graphics card...i think it will have in built in it. |
iATKOS V7 works for me
I confirm that iAKTOS V7 works. my reg is: MSI P55-GD80 (great mobo for OC), i5 760 default 2.66GHZ (OC to 4GHZ stable) 4GB DDR3 Dual Channel 1600 MHZ (had to adjust settings in BIOS to get it run at default speed), Nvidia GTX 260, 230 SATA HD, and an LG DVD-RW SATA. in order to get iAKTOS V7 to install and work I had to use AHCI in BIOS for the drives , booted on DVD and used "cpus=1 busratio=20" installation started, partitioned HD to OSX extended journaled and erased it and mad it GUID. and customized installation, this is what I choose: iAKTOS V7, Chameleon V2, /Extra, DSDT, DSMOS, 9.7.0 kernel voodoo, APIC driver, Disabler, OHR, Remove TyMCE, AHCI, Intel SATA/IDE, Voodoo HDA, Realtek R1000, Post Install Actions. for my GTX 260 I choose Natit Enabler, and Nvidia Mac driver installer for GTX 2XX. if you have PS/2 keyboard and/or mouse choose the apple drive.
Add the cpus=1 and busratio=20 to com.boot.apple.plist to avoid typing them at every start up. booted normal, plugged in my flash drive and USB hard drive 300GB and they are both recognized and functional. sound works, internet works, firewire detected but have no device to try it. Iphone detected but iTunes needs to be updated to 8.2 or later. |
iATKOS v7 has worked well for me on an Asus P5B with Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, Asus P5B Premium (Vista Edition) with Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, MSI K9N v3 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ and an old Dell 8400 with a Pentium 4 Prescott.
Not everything has worked out of the box, of course, but booting from a DVD, installing, booting the install and getting a basic setup has worked on all of them. |

The only destro I could successfuly install. I have an MSI P55-GD80 socket1153,8GB 1600 MHZ, i5 750 CPU (OC to 4GHZ, and aGTX260, if anyone has a P55 motherboard you can ask and I will post a walkthrough of installation and bios changes I had to do, I assume this will work with anyP55 mobo. some things do not work thou, like MIC and 7.1 channel, time machines. I was able to update to 10.5.8 through software update, I did a complet update to everything, itunes, quicktime etc. then I used the iAKTOS v7 dvd reinstlled drivers andpatches only, and working perfect. this V7 is a well done job.

Hello!
It's my first post, so hello to everybody. I have one problem which bothers me for a long time. I installed iPhone sdk with xcode included, because i'd like to write some mobile apps. The problem is, that i can't open library window in the interface builder. Reinstalling xcode or complete MacOs didn't help. On my macbook i can normally build UI, but on my hackintosh (which is my desktop computer) i can't. The xcode from original Leopard dvd, without iphone sdk also doesn't work. I think that iAtkos v2 is the one which doesn't allow me to use xcode propperly, because if i install 10.5.2 (kalyway) it works ok, but iPhone sdk requires at least 10.5.7. Please help me. Thanks, bye |
I have tried to create a virtual machine using iAtkos v7 with VMware but everytime I try and boot from the ISO image I get the following error
System config file '/com.apple.Boot.Slist' not found Also in the risk of sounding stupid what is a MD5 Checksum and how do you do one ? |
md5sum
An MD5Sum is a digital "fingerprint" that identifies a file. If you're download was no good then the hash wouldn't match. Most OS have MD5 check methods built in except windows. There is a concise walkthrough on the ubuntu.com page. Just search MD5. If you need a Windows based check, search for MD5Sum. Top result should be a link to Nullriver Software. There is a free simple checksum at that link.
Even if your check is good, you could still have a bad burn. I had this with my first install attempt and ended up being my burner. Even burning at the lowest speed resulted in errors. Assume there was something wrong with the calibration of the drive, but long story short, burn finished good, install failed, new drive, new burn, good install. Sorry I can't help you with you're VMWare problem. |
Successful installation...
I have a successful installation since the time of its release (iAtkos V7). This is the most stable distro I have tried. Works out of the box. You can check my sig for my rig. It's a 12" notebook, I mean the crappiest ever on China market.
It runs stable and I have updated to 10.5.8 thru Apple Software Update, it was painless. Been up and running for more than 6 months already, installed lots of apple software, and it's running quite well. Have done my dsdt patch already so I have removed some of the unnecessary kext. Sleep works well, got QE/CI. Upgraded the RAM, replaced the intel WLan to Broadcom 4311 to be more "airport compatible"(lots of these in my place at less than 10USD each), then next would be an SSD drive and a processor upgrade. Feels like "Mac", runs like "Mac". iAtkos V7, awesome distro for Leopard. Thumbs up to the team who made it possible. |
Smooth install once i got the correct drivers via the config. updated to 10.5.8...ty

Trouble Installing on AMD
This is my first go at a Mac so please bare with me. Wanted to see how a mac works before i decide on buying one.
Downloaded the iATKOS v7 and burnt to a DVD. Created a new virtual machine with 1 gb ram, 80 hard drive space and ran the install. after the install the screen was stuck at the gray screen with the apple. Did a reset on the virtual machine and went to boot single user. then it got stuck at some point (screen snap attached). Following is my computer setup: Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P Total RAM: 4 GB Video Card: ATI Radeon HD5750 1GB Any advice is very much appreciated Normal Bootup stuck point: http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/5...lbootstuck.jpg Single User stuck point: http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/295/messagel.jpg |
Easy install on Acer Extensa 4620z
Just a quick note to mention this, as I've found surprisingly few references to my laptop when searching around. Anyhow, installed this distro pretty much on all default settings, plus a couple of drivers. A stark contrast to the latest Hazard and CCLloyd releases which I've tried in the past few days.
So far, I have to say, iATKOS seems the most mature distro to me. I've now tried installing just about every OSx86 release on two desktops (both self-built, i7 and AMD Phenom) and I remember getting close to success only with iATKOS on those as well. This time, it was just night and day: Created an 8Gb partition (just to try, didn't even expect it to work, will make larger in the future of course) Picked a couple of drivers that seemed to make sense to me (Voodoo EFI graphics, PS/2 with touchpad, broadcom wifi, realtek audio) and let it rip. It was getting close to finishing when the screen went black and the machine rebooted. Well, I thought something went wrong, so I erased the partition and tried again with all default and no drivers. Same thing happened, except this time I actually ejected the DVD and booted from my new Mac partition, and saw the welcome messages fly. Alas, since I didn't choose any drivers at install, I had no keyboard :( Rebooted, installed JUST the drivers this time and voila - EVERYTHING seems to be running just fine, it picked up my wifi right away, sound was playing and my touchpad is recognized. I haven't tested the webcam or card reader, but I never really use them on my PC anyway, am sure something could be done about them as well if necessary. Now, I'd really only like to know how to update it to Snow. Anybody with a quick and easy answer? |
My only problem is it can't boot with my onboard Intel Graphics.
But i have an NVIDIA 7100GS. And i have to say this is the best distro ever! |
booting issues
i have a dell xps 400
sys specs are as follows Chipset - Intel 945P chipset Precessor - Intel Pentium D CPU 2.80Ghz 2.79Ghz (thats what windows says it is) this is what dells web page says (Intel® Pentium® D Processor up to 840 (3.2GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB) with Dual Core Technology. Video card is a EVGA 9800GT RAM i have 4gs installed Operating systems - Windows 7 utimate 64 bit ,Ubuntu 9.10 ,iATKOS v7 not bootable now my problem is FIRST - i installed it with win 7 and ubuntu already installed i installed iATKOS to its own partition and because of how i have everything installed i use Grub loader so i went into Ubuntu and updated the grub loader (update-grub) got the iATKOS to show up on the loader now when i select it the screen flashes and restarts the computer Ive tried reinstalling it with different custom options selected including trying a basic's only to no avail.. SECOND TRY - i pulled all my HDD and installed a fresh one for a single boot of iATKOS got it installed with no problems restarted computer got it to boot up to the screen where the lizard is on the top of the screen and you can choose what type of boot you want and i tried all of them and got as far as the Grey apple screen flashes and then it restarts so once again im stuck.. ill do my best to give you all info you need to help me.. any and all help is greatly appreciated thank you John S. |

Thank you lovely people!
Many guys told me that this is my best shot for having Mac on PC - I've never used Mac but i developed Windows Mobile apps and now would like to do IPhone programming.
I cannot afford a Mac so want to try out hackintosh - I've bought an external harddrive of 300 GB to have Mac installed on it. Possible right? So that I effect my current PC windows xp in no way. I have Pentinum 4 (R) ThinkCentre 8113D5U 3 GB Ram and around 500 GB HD in PC now. Will that support? is it possible to install hackintosh on this PC? If it is possible, then anyone who've tried this in easy language how to do this? as am a programmer, web developer but I suck at installing such hardware challenging programs. Can anyone help please? Thanks. |
