10a432 AMD interface lag/choppiness
Hello all,
I have installed the 10a432 DVD along with the following kexts: disabler.kext dsmos.kext (or whatever it is) nforceATA.kext nforceLAN.kext and using the mach_kernel.432amd that I got somewhere on this forum on my asus m2npv-vm mobo with an AM2 processor added the EFI string for my 8800gt and enabled quartz gl from osx86 tools. System profiler does NOT list QE/CI (at all!) which I thought was odd but when I ran Quartz Debug it shows QE enabled. I have this interface lag that happens whenever i try to move a window or do anything really, and if i try to drag and drop an icon it hangs but I can still move the mouse (cant use keyboard shortcuts or cmd-opt-esc though.) I tried loading Chess to see if it was maybe a problem with OpenGL and it takes forEVER to load or make a move when usually on 10.5 it is lightning-fast. The intro movie from the setup assistant also was very choppy when playing back, i'm assuming its related. Anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Nick |

i'm doing fine with natit with my 8800gts e.g. |
problem is in kernel for amd is not retail vanila ,
this kernel mach_kernel.432amd is patched |
Where you find 432 kernel?
I have only 394. And yes, it's recommended to leave QuartzGL OFF. |
The lag happens regardless of the quartzgl setting. I'll try using natit.
|
i cant run 10.6 with mach_kernel.432amd.... its allways KP... :(
|
OK Natit boots and doesn't give the interface lag, but no opengl, qe/ci, or anything like that. Also, it's stuck at 1024x768. Any suggestions while I do more research?
As far as your KP using mach_kernel.432amd, did you try using -x32 as a kernel option? |
oh wow, as I was typing that reply now i get these strange artifacts... for example, when the cursor blinks i get a horizontal line like a big shadow of the cursor to the left of it... I don't think natit is gonna be the final answer to this issue.

Here is the kernel: http://rapidshare.de/files/48107385/...32amd.rar.html

yes i have try -x32 boot option... still got KP on boot
my spec: AMD Athlon X2 7750 BlackEdition Gigabyte GA-M720-US3 4 GB kit DDR2 PC 6400 G-Skill BlackEdition 500 Gb Seagate Baracuda SATA GeForce 9600 GT 512 MB GDDR3 256Bit Ideneb 1.5.1 + Update 10.5.8 || Windows 7 |
Also, can we move that kernel issue to a new thread :)
|
Yes we should, sorry to hijack you're topic!
|
sorry... my bad...

Kernel Panic whatever I try: -x32 -x64 -legacy -f -v -x arch=x86_64 Always the same KP and "Turn off..." message. |

I can boot with Natit but get no QE/CI and I'm stuck at 1024x768 (Yuck!) I was reading that you might need to edit the Natit kext but the one I found seems to have different information in the plist. Is it expected that editing Natit will allow QE/CI to work? Also, to electro: I'm having trouble understanding your post. Are you saying because I'm using the AMD kernel I can't use efi strings for my GFX card? Leopard runs fine with EFI strings on this same computer. Is there a way to use the vanilla kernel on AMD? I didn't think there was. Cheers, Nick |
