List the exact "Customize" options you chose when you first installed. My 8600GTS works perfectly with the 10.5.2 install.

I chose under install the option 10.5.2 nvidia kexts or something like that that I remember! But I tried the drivers at scottangel.com and others they are all not working! =(

Take a look at the wiki on the how to guide for EFI GFX. It should be worth doing since you have everything else working already.
|
Eddie you mean the "How to: Create and Install GFX Strings for EFI" tutorial?
What is it exactly doing? and do I read well I need to remove my nvinject kext? Is SFX also interesting? Ive got a ALC888 Audio on my motherboard |

Yes ... If all goes well. Because all graphic cards aren't supported using this EFI GFX string.

Zephyroth you also can awnser my questions? Cause since this is my topic:O

GeForce.kext NVDAResman and NVDANVxxHAL must still be modified ... but yes a little step closer .

What's your other questions ?

Instead of injecting data to the kernel with NVinject (in order to your card being correctly recognized), this string do the job at boot.
(Hard to explain correctly ... I'm French) So yes NVinject can be removed. I didn't try SFX yet so I can't answer. |

You will always need modified NVidia kexts as Apple only supports a few graphics card by default unfortunately.
|
I just wanted to clarify that this method worked for me. My 256Mb XpertVision 8600 GTS still has QE/CI and rotation using 'hex to string' and removing NVInject.
|
My Gigabyte 8600GTS 256MB too... And the VRAM amount is now seen and reported properly where before it was listed as 768MB. xbench score just slightly better (no better in opengl though).

Hi guys I hate to bump and sound dumb but this thread is exactly what I need help on. What is the correct way going about installing a driver for this type of video card. I tried a few methods with almost everything and pretty much had to just erase everything and start over. Im ok with that but running the appropriate driver is what im trying to achieve. Here is what I am currently working with. Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS 256MB RAM. Leopard retail. Forgive the bump
