If I try to boot SnowOSX with the default kernel(the one that came) i get sent into a boot loop (-_-). but if I boot with mach_kernel.432 bvy Modbin, I get it to start but it KP's RIGHT away... any ideas on what I could do?? Ill take a pic of the KP in a sec..

What bootloader are you using? I'd use Chameleon 2 RC3 from:http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/ind...owtopic=184766 and use the test7 kernel by Modbin here: http://rapidshare.com/files/27014110...rnel_test7.rar

xXrkidXx 09-25-2009 12:32 AM

i was using the default.. PCEFI i think. ima try that tho

PS what do i do with the JAR file?

x986123 09-25-2009 12:37 AM

I think this is the wrong bootloader. Sure looks like it. You don't download the JAR, download the files, you got the sources. Also, you can try PCEFI v10.3, which I use and works very well. www.netkas.org

But also, try the Modbin kernel. You have a P4? I think you need the modbin for it.

scififan68 09-25-2009 12:37 AM

oh that was mistake look at my edited links, delete it, download that kernel, and pcefiv9 causes that kp for me too. so use Chameleon 2 or yeah pcefi 10.3 works too. :)

xXrkidXx 09-25-2009 12:39 AM

already installed RC3, and i click the link and it downloads it.. I try to open it andit says it could not be lauched(In Jar Launcher)

isnt test.7 for AMD?

scififan68 09-25-2009 12:50 AM

I have it on my friends Dell with a Pentium 4 it works fine.

xXrkidXx 09-25-2009 12:55 AM

well it doesnt for me :\, same KP.

xXrkidXx 09-25-2009 01:37 AM

any more ideas???

x986123 09-25-2009 02:41 AM

Sorry, but I have no more, maybe I will think of some.

scififan68 09-25-2009 03:54 AM

Hey what kexts do you have in your extra folder and try booting with cpus=1.

xXrkidXx 09-25-2009 12:15 PM

its P4 it only has one core lol.

and the extra folder...

Nothing. its completly empty lol. should the be something in it??

xXrkidXx 09-25-2009 12:25 PM

I just looked... theres no Extensions folder... it has an Extensions.mkext but no folder...

scififan68 09-25-2009 10:03 PM

yeah there should be. like fakesmc.kext etc. thats why it's probably crashing.

x986123 09-26-2009 12:05 AM

Yes, You need a folder in the root. Extra>Extensions> have these inside as a minimum:

scififan68 09-26-2009 12:42 AM

Also dont forget nullcpupowermanagment.kext!

Mines running without it, so I don't know if it is "Necessary"

mormegil 09-26-2009 01:37 PM

OHR.kext is known to cause KP without Null.kext

x986123 09-26-2009 07:10 PM

For me, boot is faster without it, and so is shutdown, and no kernel panics!
