Leo 10.5.6 Retail on MSI P43 NEO3 didnt work
 

Hi, i hav problem.

I boot Retail with -f -v & boot132 method and works fine. In next step screen freeze in this:

You need to make a dsdt.aml for your board or use a modded bios from here:
http://www.osxcores.site50.net/product-1.htm

I would not use a modded bios from that site, they are all very old now and risk to kill your board is quite high. It really isn't very hard to create your own dsdt.aml.

Ok, thanks, but i think that risk is too high, maybe in future i do this.

Do you know what distribution will work without any problems?
iPC? Kalyway?

If you just dump the original dsdt from Windows or Linux and post it here then I can help you patch it enough to get your system booted

If you have Windows on your machine then boot to it, get Lavalys Everest corporate edition and use Acpi tools to exctract your dsdt from bios. Other option is to get Ubuntu livecd, boot to it, run terminal, sudo su and cat /proc/acpi/dsdt > dsdt.dat. Then post that dsdt.dat here.

Today i will to try extract dsdt, but i found in the web modded bios for my motherboard:

Its always better to use a DSDT file than patching your BIOS with some foreign BIOS you dont know if it works or not.
If you use a bad DSDT file that doesnt work you just delete the file and you are set. If you put a BIOS with a bad DSDT in your mobo you may not able to recover from it (easily).
There are many ways to extract DSDT:
- Everest Corporate.
- Linux LiveCD
- From inside OS X if you have a running system.

Like I told you already, risk of killing your board is quite high and you also get a very old bios using that method.

Right click status bar at the bottom of Everest window, you should now see a menu which has ACPI tools. Open it and select save dsdt.

Put dsdt.aml file in Extra folder, and keep decompiled original and fixed one in safe place should you need to do more modifications.

Maybe I need to download another distro of Leo which is modified and installer will work to prepare retail on second hdd?

No need to play with distros, use retail. This dsdt will work with both Leo and SL. Just make a bootcd or better yet a bootable usb stick with Chameleon.

If you have a computer running OS X then I can make an image of my stick. If you don't have access to a Mac or a Hack then you have to make a bootcd or find some way to make bootable stick using Windows. I think I saw a Chameleon installer for windows somewhere, use google.

Okay, i prepare my pendrive, and Chameleon works, but i dont know what to do now with the dsdt.

Maybe You can put modified dsdt for my mobo on your stick and share image of it for me?

I can if you have access to a computer running OS X, otherwise it is useless to you because it's on HFS+ formatted Guid partition, Windows won't read that.

Yes, that's how it works, I think the most minimal setup is to have com.apple.Boot.plist and and dsdt.aml files in Extra folder, and under that you must have Extensions folder with fakesmc.kext.

I have a problem.
When chameleon is running, I cant choose the option boot from CD, I can only select the hard drive partition that I want to run the system.
By the way.even if i dont have pen drive connected to the computer, chameleon starts, he replaced original bootloader from windows? how to remove it?

To get back to Windows bootloader you need to boot using Windows cd or dvd and then repair the bootloader.

If Chameleon doesn't detect your dvd and you can't get to a Mac then only choice left is to make a boot cd. Else if you have access to a Mac and atleast 8 Gb usb stick then you just restore original dvd to usb stick and boot using that.

You can try IDeneb, use boot flag -cpus=1, that might allow you to boot
without dsdt.aml. If you get IDeneb installed somehow, then you have a lot of choices on how to install retail Leo or SL.

Ok, start by telling me what hardware you have. If you don't have IDE drives you should disable that JMicron controller in bios.

Ok, I don't know how much there is differences in our bios settings because of different models, but let's try these:
Execute bit supprt enabled
Set limit CPUID... disabled

HPET enabled

IOAPIC function enabled

Extra IDE controller disabled

PCI IDE Busmaster enabled
On chip Sata controller enabled
Raid mode AHCI

ACPI Function enabled
ACPI Standby State S3

Intel EIST enabled
Intel C/State tech enabled

I think you should find most of these settings in your bios. Last two may have to be disabled when using a distro, they enable native P-states and C-states and if your distro has Nullcpupowermanagement.kext that may cause conflicts. Try booting iDeneb again with these settings.

All without this, is in my bios ;)

All I set up right and this is works ! - Instalator of Mac is running, and windows 7 have bsod but thats no problem :D

It's been so long since I used a distro that I can't remember all the options anymore, if you provide a list of options I may be able to help. And I don't know what all you have on your bootcd, bit hard to help without that information.

2. ALC888 by Taruga (not sure about this since I use usb audio)
3. ICHx Fixed
4. Use vanilla kernel so no choices there.
5. Realtek R1000
6. Openhaltrestart and some bios from AppleSMBIOS submenu
7. No choices there
8. You have such a new graphics card that I don't know if any of these work, try choosing NVInject that matches with memory on graphics card.
9. No need to select anything there.

How far did you get, is this happening at first boot after install or you can't even get to installer ?

Yes, at first boot, after installation

If you are able to run the installer then you also have access to terminal, maybe you should try do a proper Chameleon usb stick, including the dsdt.aml that I gave to you. With that you should be able to boot the retail dvd.

Ok, but i dont know how do that. "chameleon" is a big problem for me and i dunno what to do :F
