I opened this thread for Beta Testers only. (If anyone other than them put a message here it will be deleted).
I want you to:

- Tell what works. (if something doesn't work right after the installation but if you managed to get it to work, explain how).
- Tell what doesn't work.
- Give your specs.

No comment here, just feedback.

hy zeph.. i'm sorry to report that rev 2 is not working for me

Problems:
1. (install)at 5-8 minutes left the screen goes gray it doesn't restart or anything just stays there.. if i restart it manually it boots into osx and says still waiting for root device..
2.after the root device error i use the "a minute left" solution, after it finishes to install(again)it restarts normally, now when i try to enter osx it gives me this error "disk0s1: I/0 error. 0 [level3] [readUID 0] etc"(pic that i sent you 2-3 days ago).
3 i did the same thing again(a minute left solution) now i don't get any error but i get stuck at creating account
thats all

My report about Rev.2 Installation:

I'm testing Rev.2 in my notebook:
CPU: AMD Mobile Sempron 3400+ (SSE3, 64bit)
VGA: Nvidia GeForce Go 6150
Chipset: Nforce MCP51
HD: Fujitsu SATA 40GB
LAN: Nvidia
Wireless: Broadcom

Installation goes fine with some combination.

Well, I made something, downloaded netkas pc efi v8 (I have to use some special for amd???) put on grub as kernel, so I get boot on Leo, but, I get message from Nforce Sata driver, something like:
AppleNforceAta: scan 1 disks found
(... other system messages ...)
Until here is ok, but for some reason Leo tries to load again and I receive this:

AppleNforceAta: scan 0 disks found
AppleNforceAta: sata phy reset failed

And...
Still waits for root device.

Maybe it could be because on installation I choose to install the newest kernel???
Edit: I try without the newer kernel: sametthing happens

Resume: installs fine but don't boot

I downloaded Rev.2 and installed it in my Opteron 175 OC'd to 2.5ghz, 2gh ddr ram, two pci-e 6600gt video cards. The installation goes through without a hitch. However, after completing the installation, it will not boot unless Rev.2 DVD is in drive, but booting will eventually stop even with the DVD in place. I tried installing on a partition and a separate HDD, with all three partitioning methods: GUID, MBR, and the 3rd option...none booted without the DVD in drive.

I will be happy to beta-test it on my system if you are wanting the same thing.

Thank so much, Zephyroth!

My hardware:
Opteron 175
DFI LanParty Ultra D system board
internal sound disabled; SoundBlaster Live! value pci card used instead
WinFast TV2000 XP TV Tuner Card
Builtin Marvell Yukon Chipset based Ethernet Controller

I installed Kalyway on a friend's machine. I was manage to install it without booting with the DVD, using the HD manager and using it's software to correct some incorrect paths or pendencies. I forgot the name... I'll see later and report in here!

naquaada 01-20-2008 10:13 PM

@ perhaps & jsmach:

Try this: boot install DVD in safe mode (option -s) and enter following commands

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
update
f 1
w (confirm with y)
q

Then reboot, it should work now. Use rdisk0 if you only have one hd in the system, I had more so I needed to use rdisk1. I'm using a seperate harddisk for OS X.

[cite] emaildopedrooo:[/cite]Hi zephyroth,

My motherboard is ASUS M2N-E, with NVIDIA nForce® 570 Ultra chipset.

I've tried to install the Tiger releases (TubGirl and iATKOS), but I don't have success. I cannot format my partitions, they just appears at Disk Manager, but they're inactive (a gray color).

So I just wanna know if you have beta testers for nForce 570 chipset, because I've read somewhere that the problem it's the chipset, and not my SATA HDD.

Thks, and sorry, I don't speak english =\
Same thing here and I have the same chipset as you (same motherboard). I'm not sure but if you try with an ATA HD (not SATA) I think it will work. I tried asking about this here with no help. Maybe two asking about the same thing someone will help us.

I would be happy to know if someone among the betatesters use this same motherboard that we have with SATA HD. If not, please, ask Pedrooo, me, someone else with more knowledge to be a betatester.

BTW, I don't you open another treat with the betatester configs? This way, people that still have problems with its configs would feel more comfortable seeing that his problem is being working out or fixed or whatever. Just an idea that would keep people from asking this kind of questions.

Thanks agains!

DoiX 01-22-2008 01:36 AM

zeph i have a question :) why is the dmg image 8 gb?:)).. oh and why is it a dmg image and not iso

zephyroth 01-22-2008 04:45 PM

Pffff .... Damn ... Must upload again ...

DoiX 01-22-2008 11:26 PM

zeph.. heres an advice.. take a small vacation or break or whatever, you seem like your close to a nervous breakdown

zephyroth 01-22-2008 11:36 PM

lol ... Yeah ... Once Rev.2 is finished !
But in 3 weeks I will buy a Core2Duo e8500 and sell my Athlon 64 X2 4200+ so ... I must work on it every day !

DoiX 01-22-2008 11:44 PM

nooooo you dumping AMD? :((nooooo

zephyroth 01-22-2008 11:49 PM

Arf yes, I think the difference between e8500 and X2 4200 is ... BIG !

But hey don't worry I still have an Athlon 3500+ SSE2/SSE3. :-)

DoiX 01-22-2008 11:52 PM

oh :) im an AMD person :) intels kinda sucks i tested with a benchmark my computer (64 2.2 ghz) vs a 3.2 ghz intel celeron, my pc won :) i dont know how the dual cores are..anyway when you will finish uploading beta2?

zephyroth 01-23-2008 12:00 AM

Penryn E8500 seems to be promising ... 3,16 @ 4,7Ghz in air cooling ... And it will not be too expensive.
I know that for Intel users who already own a C2D it's not a real evolution but when you change from Athlon X2 to this C2D its another story.

And I will be able to get Leopard running with stock kernel and stock kexts on my PC ... That's really cool.
BTW: I'm working on a way to make Apple updates more easy for AMD.

About the upload of Rev.2 :

I've removed all rar from ftp as it wasn't the right ISO.
I will upload the new image this night and it should be finished tomorrow morning.

DoiX 01-23-2008 12:03 AM

ok :) good luck

Puttabong 01-23-2008 01:04 AM

I read that the E8500 (Wolfdale) has 6 Megabytes (2x 3072 KB) of L2 Cache,
that's certainly insanely fast in addition to the 2x 3166 MHz Cores!

Which Mainboard are you going to use for that purpose?
An Intel Bad Axe 2? :)

roisoft 01-23-2008 01:26 AM

I have ordered an E8500 too, GigaByte P35-DS4 with 4 gb Kingstom HyperX. Seasonic M12-700 x (power sup.) and SilverStone TJ07W (case)

Puttabong 01-23-2008 01:36 AM

roisoft, which xBench score do you expect on your new setup? :)

roisoft 01-23-2008 01:39 AM

over 200 + - :-)

zephyroth 01-23-2008 01:47 AM

yeah at least ... @ 3,16Ghz.
I cannot imagine if I can put it @ 4,7 or more ... :-)

Puttabong 01-23-2008 01:50 AM

Amazing. :)

Imagine a 30" Cinema Display attached to one of these super fast machines :)!

roisoft 01-23-2008 01:57 AM

I have a 24´ Samsung Syncmaster and a TV-TFT 40´ samsung 1080p for Movies and sports, not too bad..hey puttabong? :D

roisoft 01-23-2008 02:02 AM

I was thinking about buying macmini like mediacenter, but I´ll wait a 3 months more.

zephyroth 01-23-2008 02:10 AM

Hummm ... a dream machine comes with nightmare prices ...

roisoft 01-23-2008 02:14 AM

All the apple´s hard are too much expensive

7eventh 01-23-2008 03:00 AM

Hey, whats happening here??? Don t tell me you all drop the AMDs and go for the "standard" Intel Hackintosh! ;o)

dred 01-23-2008 05:28 AM

zephyroth, I just baught X2 6400+ 3.2GHZ and I like it but I too was thinking of buying a CoreDuo just to make things easier. Still undecided.

Thanks again for all your work.

xan 01-23-2008 08:18 AM

please dont drop AMD, your release was the only one that works for me. amd user 4 life and your rev1 was really good. make the rev2 :] or just drop us the current status

braindead803 01-23-2008 01:55 PM

so is this gonna be uploaded for open beta testing or still closed? i'd love to beta test on my gateway. specs below:

zephyroth 01-23-2008 05:06 PM

Still closed but this is the last time.

There is still number of things to fix but I don't want to make you wait longer.

This is the last iso I make, next updates will be shipped as Installer or ppf.

At least I'm starting to upload it on ftp (damn ISP ...).

braindead803 01-23-2008 05:09 PM

will this installer recognize wireless internet adapters and soundcards? or ???

1207FX 01-23-2008 05:16 PM

I'm sure soon we will all be able to "test" Rev2, take your time Zeph. and Thanks2

zephyroth 01-23-2008 05:19 PM

Support for audio devices : AppleAC97Audio, AzaliaAudio, ALC883 and ALC888.

Support for wifi devices : Broadcom BCM43xx, Ralink RT73 and RT2500 and Zydas-ZD1211-1215

1207FX 01-23-2008 05:24 PM

You have to admit, if you think about it, this is a 2nd job for some in the forum. Trying to get this OS out for us all. My wife/girlfriend would kick my ass for spending so much time on the comp. ;)

braindead803 01-23-2008 05:33 PM

ok so how do i figure out what i have? i been trying to find out my sound card from the manufacturer website along with the wireless network driver. i think this is it (Realtek Semiconductor Realtek 8185 Extensible 802.11b/g Wireless Device )(NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller )

zephyroth 01-23-2008 05:50 PM

It's seems that this wireless adapter is not supported yet ...

braindead803 01-23-2008 05:51 PM

darn! so im gonna have to plug into the router now :( that sucks for me :(

DoiX 01-23-2008 06:21 PM

zeph, a lil question, is there a way to cancel the setup? i tried the graphics mode and all the solution i could find on the forum.. but none of them are working for rev 2 beta... i think its the 15 time i installed rev2 and still did got it to pass the account creation setup

zephyroth 01-23-2008 06:25 PM

I don't know ... This issue never happens for me.

DoiX 01-23-2008 06:29 PM

damn... hope this bug will not occur in beta 2 (to me)

prateesh 01-23-2008 07:40 PM

Hi zephyroth,

Please add the laptop keyboard & touchpad support in this rev 2

zephyroth 01-23-2008 07:45 PM

ok which kexts ?

Puttabong 01-23-2008 08:55 PM

Nice to hear that, zeph! ;>
I love to see EFI in the Filename of your glorious Release Candidate 2! :)

zephyroth 01-23-2008 09:09 PM

I already have some things to add to Rev.2 ...
My brain is about to explode !
:-)

I hope that the ISO is really EFI ... I didn't burned it yet !

pcgame 01-23-2008 10:20 PM

When will be released?

zephyroth 01-23-2008 11:03 PM

As soon it's finished ... :-)

bonkey 01-23-2008 11:23 PM

rofl :P as soon as it's finished :P

Zeph, is it the (Leopard-10.5.1-AMD-EFI) rel you are uploading?

don't think it's going to work for me.. haven't played much with EFI, but isn't it an alternative to the MBR? if so it wont' work on my partitioned HD with vista running next to it. :(

DoiX 01-23-2008 11:29 PM

Bonkey nice seeing you back :)

l3opard 01-23-2008 11:31 PM

I thought it is the rev .2. It should work in clean install (I personally would like to run linux in a partition but never got dual boot working..).
