Already installed here. Works fine - and seems that we have a new kernel in this update. Version 10.2.0.
|
Could you give the build number also? :)

10.2.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.2.0: Tue Nov 3 10:37:10 PST 2009; root:xnu-1486.2.11~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

Updated directly from Software Update. All working fine.

Hey guys, I'm not using a vanila kernel (can't because I do not have Intel Core), will I be safe to when I upgrade my hack 10.6.1 to 10.6.2?
Many thanks |

Mac OS X 10.6.2 (10C540) ...
Quite safe if you have an AMD ... ( backup your old kernel and keep using it until a new one is released ... ) |
@chico_stang @mindlessmissy When I update Leopard from 10.5.6 to 10.5.8, not only mach_kernel but also /S/L/Extensions too. When I update SL from 10.6 to 10.6.1, just update directly from Apple, no need to backup anything. Let's see what happens if I update from 10.6.1 to 10.6.2
|
@Everybody
YES YOU DO. Defiantly back up your kernel. they update it in this package, meaning it will be overwritten making your install useless. |
@NghiaDev ... Kernel wasnt updated in the update from 10.6 to 10.6.1 (Kernel Version was 10.0.0) but the new update to 10.6.2 contains a new Kernel (version 10.2.0). Also this new Kernel wont work with most of the Extensions that some of us have installed (like SleepEnabler or the modified AppleHDA extension).
Edit.. just found a new compatible SleepEnabler.kext here |
works fine here, all i had to do was reinstall my sound kexts (alc888)
|
Works fine here too :)
It seems i cannot load the AtherosFix.kext somehow... cheers |
Update went very painfull here.... :(
I am no longer able to boot into 64-Bit Kernel with having my EFI String applied - otherwise every little action will drive me into a Kernel Panic, caused by com.apple.Geforce - 32-Bit Kernel & Extensions still works... My Audio Legacy kexts are no longer working also, so I tried to replace AppleHDA.kext with the old one what made it even worse... Guess I won't find any sleep till day is dawning.^^ Edit: OK the second one is fixed - old AppleHDA wasn't installed properly. But still not luck with x86_64 Kernel boot so far... Guess I'll have to try a clean installation, :-/ |
Thanks everyone, Finally I got 10.6.2 working, I backup mach_kernel (my specs have old CPU, I do not have Intel Core 2), and restore after install update then reboot No sound So I installed THE SAME VERSION of HDAEnabler and AppleHDA with my SL 10.6.x and my sound is enable :D Hope that the update would fix most problems og Hackintosh PCs:D

It would be great if I was able to boot in 32bit mode. (mac server) hope someone could shed some light cause I've tried everything from nvkexts to dsdt.:( |
tried efi?
|
i7 860 now Vanilla
FYI to all P55 i7 860 (and probably i5 as well) users the new Vanilla Kernel works native now!! Boots into 64-bit mode and everything seems to be working flawlessly (have yet to try sleep).
Also, anyone out there get sound working for ACL888 on GA-P55-UD3R (S/PDIF and line out)? Sound works great in 10.5.8 with ACL888 kexts but no go for 10.6.X. |

nvinject stops the kp but the you get a performance hit sluggish, stuttering and no vlc or dvd video :( |
I've just updated successful, thanks !

Updated to 10.6.2 on my hack with no issues at all from Software update.
|
Updated, Kernel panic on boot, deleted sleepenabler.kext and installed version for 10.6.2 everything back to normal, and for some reason fonts look better in firefox.
I really need to get intelcpupowermanagment working then I won't have this problem again, would be very grateful if someone could show me how to add speedsteps to dsdt. |
Managed a sucessful (eventually) update here (downloaded and ran update manually). Got caught out with the SleepEnabler.kext, thus kernel panic. Rebooted with SL dvd and ran terminal renamed Sleepenabler.kext>Sleepeneablerkext.old also renamed extension.mkext in /Extra. Rebooted with -f -v had 1 kernel panic about 10 minutes after GUI loaded but in the meantime had found out about the bug and Netkas's new kext (tnx snow :)) so installed new kext recreated Extensions.mkext repaired permissions and reboot, all seems fine now.
*note to self* Read around the forums for potential issues LOL ;) |
if i don`t do the update there is a problem? :)) and no panics and stuff like that ... i did 10.6.2 update earlier this morning and god too much panics ... so i give up updating till a 10.6 will be created by iDeneb, iAtaKos or maybe Leo4All ... or maybe someone will make a post with a hacked Darwin kernel 10.2.0
|
Hi i have same problem with the sleepenabler.. So how can i delete the kext so i can try to boot without kernel panics?

I couldn't boot with -x or -s, only have one version of osx installed. So I installed trial version of macdrive and deleted it and also Extensions.mkext from windows
I think my osx setup has got so good I've become complacent |

the commands you want to run are: mv /Volumes/<your SL install here>/Extra/Extensions/SleepEnabler.kext /Volumes/<your SL install here>/Extra/Extensions/SleepEnabler.kext.old and mv /Volumes/<your SL install here>/Extra/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/<your SL install here>/Extra/Extensions.mkext.old close terminal and reboot (eject dvd) with -f -v hope this helps, good luck E2A i realised later I could have effected the repairs described above and in post #23 by booting into my Leopard installation (doh!) still at least I've shown it's possible to do the same thing from booting via dvd.... |
update was straight forward, i jus have to follow the netkas guide

Since I have done this it has stopped the panic but now during the startup on the white apple screen I get the reboot thing that usually comes up with the panic. I dont know what else to do so I would really appreciate any guidance you could give. Thanks. |

P.S. really try looking for your install disc. ;) |
I did a fresh install of hazard's osx 10.6.2 with chameleon 2.0 rc3 on my thinkpad t61. i got the kernel panic on the white mac loading screen. so i put the install cd back in and renamed the files with terminal. i booted my laptop back up and in chameleon i entered the command mach_kernel rd=Snow Leopard -f-v. i still get the kernel panic at the loading screen when booting up. did i do something wrong? help is appreciated
