[HELP] Need to install iAtkos 5i on my laptop - Project to end my course(iPhone app)

Hello everyone.

My name is Marco.
I am from Portugal.

I'll describe my problem.

I am almost finishing my school, To finish it i'll need to do some Project... i want to do some little app for the iPhone. But I don't have any Macbook, nor the money to buy it.

So my chance to do the project is use on my Laptop the Mac OSX.

But guess, I don't know how to do it.

I downloaded the iAtkos 5i... but I don't know what to do after this...

My "machine" is:

Compaq Presario CQ60.

Intel Pentium T4200 2.0Ghz.
3Gb 667mhz DDR2 Ram.
Geforce 9200M with 256Mb.
250Gb HDD.
Atheros wireless LAN.

Motherboard, I don't know what is =/

Please can someone help me? Is very important for me!

Thanks in advance and sorry for my wrong english. I am portuguese and I'm not used to write in English.

Do you have the oportunity to boot Linux or BSD? Knoppix or something like that?
If so then enter "lspci -nn" on the Shell and post the output with that info we might tell you what will be possible and some hints what you might pay attention when installing.

kamess 11-14-2009 01:02 PM

Can I do this using VirtualPC?
If I can do this with a virtual machine, I'll post when I download the knoppix.

I have no CD to use the live boot CD. I have to download.

I have just one HDD, with Windows Vista.

thanks. ;)

Imkantus 11-15-2009 12:50 AM

No that won't work. Also I don't know how to get detailed hardware infos including device-ids and everything using an non-unixoid system like the one of M$ as I am allmost not using such OSes, sorry. :D

Special infos like the used southbridge are important if you're looking for the kernel extensions you need to boot OS X properly.

kamess 11-15-2009 01:02 AM

I finished downloading knoppix 2 hours ago....

Tomorrow i'll burn it into a CD, and then i'll post the results ;)

Thanks for the help imkantus.

kamess 11-23-2009 04:20 PM

New reply to say:
I put knoppix into a DVD, but I don't know why it did not work. Probably some bad release...

Today my teacher gave me a Ubuntu 9.04 CD and I finally could use the Live CD.

I entered ubuntu Live CD, i entered in the shell, BUT, after writing "nspci -nn" it said that the code was wrong.

Am I doing this correctly?

Thanks .
Marco Camoes.

Imkantus 11-23-2009 07:58 PM

It's lspci not nspci.
Maybe you also need to add "sudo lspci -nn" it's possible that you don't have the permissions to use the program.

kamess 11-24-2009 11:51 AM

Ok, thanks.

Finally it worked, :)

Here it is the result:

Looks good so far. :)

Next step is to burn the ISO to a DVD, then boot from it, choose your language go ahead to menu and lunch the disk utility & partition your HD - you will need an empty HFS+ / MacOS Extended Journaed Partition with atleast ~10GB. Follow the setup until the screen, where you select this partition - don't continue right away with installation from here - instead click on Customize button - dialog should look like this: http://awevo.net/wp-content/uploads/...ccbfbf09e6.png
I would only select a bare minium of the avaible fixes like this:

iATKOS v5i Main System
PC EFI V9
dsmos
Disabler.kext
PS/2
OHR
Intel SATA
Laptop Battery

If everything wents fine you shoudl be able to boot after install - for the GFX, I would later install either nvdarwin.kext or create a EFI String with custom NVCAP. LAN should work out of the box - I am not sure about the wireless, but there are people having Atheros cards with 0x168c device ID working vanilla. :)
For the sound you can either try with VoodooHDA.kext - or if you want the input jacks or an internal mic to work also, I would recommend to create Linux codecdump and patch AppleHDA using Tarugas Patcher App. (Search for a codec*** file in /proc/asound/card0 - mine is for example codec#2 yours might be different, then use "sudo cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#2 > ~/dump.txt" copy dump.txt from the Linux users home directory and drop it into the patcher icon.)

Good Luck.

What can I do now?

Thanks ;)

kamess 11-26-2009 05:49 PM

Please forget my last message.

Mac OSX is working now.

First it was like the picture, after a short reading, I re-installed it. Changed the intel Sata to Intel ACPI Sata, or something like it...
re-install....

New problem, Nvidia Graphics wasn't working, new re-install, with nvidia drivers.

It worked, system boots very fast... I created my account, everything normal... testing the system, and the problems appeared...

PROBLEMS:
No sound. I copied a music to my computer, i open itunes, I start the music by hitting the play button, but there is no sound, nor the music starts(the music progress bar stills in 0:00 all the time).

No internet connection. Wireless i don't know how to put it ok to work, cable (rj45) ain't worked too.
Resolution too small, can I put it like my laptop native resolution? (1366x768)

Thanks again.

As said before, I apologize for my wrong english, I am portuguese and I am not used to write in English.

EDIT: After Mac OSX86 I installed windows 7, and... I can't do dual boot, how can I do it now?
Thanks ;)

OK. That's the first to go. ;)
1. Download chain0 from here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Chain0
2. Get EasyBCD - and create a new "Mac / Generic x86 PC" entry in the widows bootmenu with it.
3. Move chain0 to C:\NST (or whatever your drive letter is) and rename it from "chain0" to "nst_mac.mbr"

Installing this should fix your Line-Out & Speaker. :)

Well there is a shareware tool to do this - but no need to buy it. ;) Get latest switchresX, create a "custom resolution" once done, delete the Prefpane again, your custom resolution will keep avaible. :)

kamess 11-27-2009 01:18 PM

Probably I explained me wrong last time.

I have no nvidia drivers.

I just loaded the drivers from the iAtkos CD, customized install. I know that it is not ok.

I searched in some forums... I founded OSX86tools, and now I don't know what to do with it.

Sound is now working, thank you very much!

Use this - it's nvdarwin.kext for 256MB cards - it should enabke your card with full graphic accerlation and everything.
(Be sure to have no other Enabler Kernel Extension like Natit.kext, nvkush.kext, nvenabler, nvinject nor an EFI String apply.)

What might not work with this solution, is using an external monitor - if you need it, try it & if it won't work we will adjust the NVCAP value of your kext. :)

kamess 11-27-2009 02:15 PM

I have installed with iatkos v5i the nvenabler.kext.

What can I do ? Delete?

I don't know how to use osx86tools, need help.

Sorry for being a bee, but I really need this.

Thanks once again ;)

Imkantus 11-27-2009 02:22 PM

Yep go to /System/Library/Extensions and trash NVEnabler.kext, then install the pkg I had posted - then go to /System/Library and trash Extensions.mkext as well - after reboot it should work. :)

kamess 11-27-2009 04:18 PM

Thanks for you reply.

No it don't work.

I downloaded nvdarwin.

I'd gone to system/lybrary/extensions and deleted nvenabler.kext, I deleted extensions from lybrary.

Then I installed nvdarwin. I launch the application, but I can't select the system/lybrary/extensions path. I just can install it in my disc. But after install it, it goes to "system/lybrary/extensions"

I reboot, and then I receive a message saying:

"system extension cannot be used:
the system extension "system/lybrary/extensions /NVdarwin.kext" was isntalled improperly and cannot be used. please try reinstalling it, or contact the produt's vendor for an update."

Help please.

I know i'm not installing it right...

I've installed nvdarwin 3 times, and when I reboot, extensions.mkext is in the disc again. I trashed it , and it's there again =/.

One question, NVDANV10HAL.kext isn't related with this problem? I have many of NVDANV...HAL.kext in the extensions folder.
I found it by searching for nvdarwin in "system/lybrary/extensions ".

Thanks one time more :D

OK. Do the following on Terminal:
Code:

sudo -s
# It will ask for your password
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/nvdarwin.kext
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/nvdarwin.kext

This should fix it. :)

That's the way it should be, it's the Extensions Chache, so the reason to delete it is to have it recreated on next to boot to have changes applied to it. ;)

Thanks for this.

BUT, I don't know if this is working. My screen resolution stays the same(1024*768) and I am not able to change it in system preferences (dock) because 1024x768 is the only one that appears in the list.

Once again I need your help :D

One thing... when I start my computer, it says "VESA 14Mb Nvidia"... If this worked, shouldn't it say "Nvidia 9200GS" or something?

Thanks Imkantus! ;)

Imkantus 11-28-2009 11:11 AM

Well OK try to rebuild the Extensions.mkext again - delete it or use the " -f " bootflga - effect it the same.
If that doesn't help, check if the nvdarwin Extension has been loaded: Use this on Terminal:
Quote:

sudo kextstat | grep -i nvdarwin

kamess 11-28-2009 11:35 AM

Thanks Imkantus.

Well I trashed the extensions.mkext, rebooted the computer and I wrote it in Terminal: "sudo kextstat | grep -i nvdarwin"

Appeared this:

" 86 0 0x47bdf000 0x6000 0x5000 com.nvdarwin (1.2.5) <17 12> "

Whats the result? Was nvdarwin loaded sucessfuly?

Thanks.

One other question.

I have Leopard 10.5.5, and in order to sucessfuly install and run the xCode(iPhone app) I need Leopard 10.5.7. Can I upgrade to 10.5.7 without a new installation of Mac OSX? Or do I need to download other CD with Mac OSX and install it again?

Thanks :D

Yeh, it has been loaded but still not working, right?
Doesn't matter - still have ideas left - remove nvdarwin.kext again - we will try something else, within the update. :)

Many newbies, who aren't sure how things work, tend to crash their system with doing updates - so I will try to give you some advices, so that you can do a safe update (I hope^^).

1. Download latest FakeSMC, and install the Leopard version using KextHelper. Do not reboot yet - go to /System/Library/Extensions and delete dsmos.kext - you won't need the Decrypter any longer with using the SMC emulation. :)
2. Download Chameleon v2 RC1 Installer pkg, install it to your Leopard partition to upgrade your bootloader. Once done, open Terminal and enter "sudo rm -f /boot". Then Download PC_EFI 10.5 boot file and drop it to the main directory (/) of your Leopard partition.
3. Download DSDT Patcher by fassl and create a dsdt.aml - optimized for "0 Darwin" copy it to the /Extra folder. (Don't worry if this doesn't work, skip the step.)
4. Use "sudo kextstat | grep -i Disabler" to ensure this Extension has been loaded. This is very important for the Update not to crash!!
5. After next reboot, download 10.5.8 Combo Update from Apple & install it. Don't wory if it needs a second attempt to boot in your system again.

Once running 10.5.8 with PC_EFI 10.5 bootloader, open Terminal again and use the following command to get the gfx's pci value from ioreg:
Quote:

ioreg -l | grep -15 “AppleACPIPCI” | grep UID
It normaly should return either 1 or 0.
Then open an editor and create a file with the following content:
Quote:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>-pci0</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>y</string>
</dict>
</plist>
Place the red flag only if the value from the ioreg was 0 - if it was 1, leave that string empty!

Save the file as com.apple.Boot.plist and copy it to /Extra

Reboot again. :)

Wow Imkantus! What a post!

Well I'm now downloading Mac OSX 10.5.8 update from support.apple.

Is there any chance to put Mac OSX in Portuguese? Now it's in English, can I change the language?

After download all the apps and the Mac OSX 10.5.8, i'll try your tutorial from your last post.

Then (If i can boot :D) I'll post the results!.

Thanks Imkantus. ;)

Well the uphuckers had been removing most language translations from their releases to have more usable space on their DVD images...

My bandwith is currently allmost utilized & I will have to leave in about a hour - but maybe you'll recieve a sudden PM with an upload of the Portuguese.pkg tomorrow. ;)

kamess 11-28-2009 02:54 PM

Ok Imkantus, i'll wait!

Well, I'l do the upgrade to 10.5.8 this night... now I have to leave too.

After that, i'll post the result.

Once again, Thanks Imkantus, without you running Mac OSX in my laptop would't be possible :D

kamess 11-28-2009 09:45 PM

Well I have a big big problem now!

I installed 10.5.8.

It took 2 restarts to ask me for my login password. Ok, it's normal as you said.

When i start hiting my laptop+s keyboard to put my password... i realised that my laptop's keyboard weren't working. BIG PROBLEM. I connected my desktop keyboard to my laptop.... and now, i'm writing with it.

My keyboard's laptop don't work now... and my touchpad don't work too.

Something got wrong =/

And another problem appeared when opened safari and came here... when i scroll up or down, safari put some parts behind the others, instead of just getting down the forum page(the page is not displayed ok). I don't know if it's a graphic problem, but when i minimize safari and restore it, the page is displayed ok. But scrolling make the previous problem.

More help needed, I guess I just screwed up this...

BTW, I tried to write "ioreg -l | grep -15 “AppleACPIPCI” | grep UID" in terminal, and no number (either 0 or 1) were displayed in the window... so, i'm not able to finish your tutorial ... :(

Thanks once more ;)

I solved my problem! ahahahahah =D

Keyboard and touchpad are now working ok :D

I just replaced the ACPI... .kext and installed voodooPS2controller.kext :D

Well... safari continues with the same problem. In this forum I have this problem, scrolling ain't ok. =/

EDIT1(28.11,2009): Safari sometimes is ok, some don't. Now have problems again, some minutes ago, it was ok.

But, safari is not the unique with this problem. When i'd gone to "System Preferences", and changed my mouse settings, in the last column (Keyboard, Mouse, Keyboard Shortcuts) we have a list when we can scroll. And there the scrolling problem revealed again.

Thinking a bit, using my limitated knowledges I probably say that this is a graphic problem. No drivers? But this just happened after the update to 10.5.8...it's strange.

EDIT2(29.11.2009): Graphic problem. Big one... Every windows now are not displayed ok. If I move one window(safari for example) from one side to the other in my screen, the body of the window begin to mix one with other. I can't explain this better , maybe with a print screen:

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/8520/picture4ui.png

And this(this should be the System Preferences window, as you can see it's not displayed correctly):
http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/3856/picture5f.png

Graphics, resolution. That's what I want to solve.

Thanks again!

Try with and without the -pci0 flag.

If both doesn't work, please post the following (on Terminal) for diagnostic usage:
Quote:

sudo -s
kextstat
dmesg
cat /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
cat /Extra/com.apple.Boot.plist
Best copy all output into a textfile and upload it, to keep some clarity in this thread. :)

Well. Here is the result of the last code:

bash-3.2# sudo -s
bash-3.2# kextstat

That's weired - I see no reason why it should not work...

You might also try another enabler kext...
This guy has the same card running using NVinject 0.2.1

kamess 12-01-2009 11:19 AM

well, i just screwed up this.

I installed nvidia 9000drivers and the nvin

Now my computer boots and in the loading screen, with the grey apple and the circle ... after that I see no image, the screen seems to be off.

I tried to boot in safe mode "-x" and it's the same. The problem is that I have important files here, wich I need for this afternoon...

Any ideas?
Can I "restore" my installation from the iatkos CD without delete any off my files?

Thank you.

Imkantus 12-01-2009 12:19 PM

You need to know what files you have installed.

Then boot in Singleuser Mode - using -s parameter, mount your disk writable with "/sbin/mount -uw /" and delete the new stuff using "rm -f /path/to/file" for files or "rm -r -f /path/to/dir" for complete directorys or kexts.

kamess 12-01-2009 02:19 PM

Mount what disc?

as said, I installed the nvidia 9000drivers(like the guy said) and then I installed nvinstaller.

After that I rebooted my computer. And happen what I described in my last post.
thankz
