Big Question: I have a new netbook (small notebook without DVD).
How to install this distro from USB?:-/ Is it the full DVD or does it have something ripped like extra voices? Quote:
TIA (this is the first Snow Leopard distro that I see) |
Can't wait for this to finish downloading!!! Finally I'll have Snow Leo for AMD ;)
I would suppose that by patching cupids you mean after I install it? Thanks for the tip, agg23 |
I tried this, I didn't get past boot.
Guess it doesn't have my chipset drivers, a SATA nVidia MCP61 |
Quote:
Also, do you have an AMD or Intel processor (I would assume AMD). |
I tried it, could not get it to boot the DVD, it is really picky. Best to have a pure Intel.
Use the manual leopard to snow leopard method I believe is the best choice for 'Legacy' systems, because you can customize your own DVD, you would edit, the dmg using DiskUtility good feature to burn your own DVD having pre-made kexts and patches. this way you can still keep leopard running and do tests for Snow Leopard. I ran across a guide which I have here on this pc, it is very good. I haven't tried it yet. The other is EmpireEFIamd with sb600 support.iso .. burn this to a CD and the use that to install Retail DVD. Then once up you can hunt around for proper kexts. If you know how to inject into PCEFI 10.x then copy this to another boot file into your pre-made DVD of snow. happy new year |

when I want to boot from the disc in verbose-mode it stucks in:
"SIGSEGV code 0" Can anybody help me with this? My system: CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ MOBO: Gigabyte GA-MA770 DS3 v2 (with SB700) RAM: 4GB MDT DDR2 800 Ram GPU: GeForce 8800GTS Thanks |
Other issues with the release
First off; AWESOME release. See sig for test rig.
But, how about the "Hey we are going backwards!" error... anyone have a fix for that? (Trying on my other system). Specs: M4A78 Plus AMD Phenom 9650 Quad Core ~2.3GHZ 6G DDR2 800mhz 4- 1.5TB Seagate 7200rpm HD (SATA) NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 1G Newest Bios, running with AHCI - but ACPI is also on, win7 wont boot without it. |
Thanks a lot for the release Hazard! Snow Leopard runs almost perfectly on my PC. My specs are listed in my signature. I haven't used Marvin's AMD Utility yet since the system actually worked and I don't even know how to use that utility. I had used the Chameleon v2 RC2 from an earlier install of 10.5.8 that didn't work with my graphics card, but this distro did work with the NVEnabler kext.
Here are the customized kexts I had used: - Kernel = Legacy Kernel 10.2.0 Intel AMD - Chipset = AppleNForceATA - Audio = VoodooHDA - Graphics = NVEnabler - Network = nForceLAN (included in default kexts) - Misc = AMD patch, Mac OS X 10.6.1 Update, Mac OS X 10.6.2 Update Combo Problems: - iTunes crashes when importing songs FIXED - FakeSMC: key info not found MSDS, length " -6 (Error appears in verbose mode on startup) - Snow Leopard runs poorly unless I first boot into my Windows HDD and then restart back into Snow Leopard O_o - Clock sets itself forward in time when I boot back into Windows. |
who can help me? ;)
It was still 2 minutes to go, and tht instellation would be done. But then i become the follow Message http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/6941/img0360x.jpghttp://img686.imageshack.us/img686/2553/img0359lv.jpghttp://img27.imageshack.us/i/img0360x.jpg/ |
I have downloaded this version but...

Hi, i have an Intel System.
But how can i change the Kernel? Must I do something for an Intel System? Because I only put the DVD in (first a Boot CD then this Leopard) and just click on "install". |
Quote:
Do you have any progress there? I have exactly the same problem. My system reboots al the time during installation after a few startup strings. None of the keys helps (tried -f, -x, -s, cpus=1, platform=x86, arch=i386, force64 in lots of combinations - nothing). I've got AMD Phenom II 945, 4Gigs of 667MHz [800MHz unstable] RAM, HD 5770 and a SB700 mobo. Couple of days ago i had this pretty distro working perfectly on my mobo with Geforce 9800 GT and with Athlon 6000+, without any kexts or anything. But after a small upgrade it won't boot any more. Even from install DVD. Even in single user mode. I also had working iAtkos 7 distro, but without videocard support. Question to pros: are there any keys (kernel=... maybe) that i should try to get install process working? |
Tried this distro and got SL succesfully installed on my AMD machine, but having trouble getting my NVidia Geforce 7300GT PCIe 256mb DDR2 card to work. I already tried EFI strings, Natit, CoreVidia 1.1.
I get the resolution right and it does look good, but the graphics are sluggish, the mouse pointer is everywhere even with the slightest touch. Is there a way to fix this? This is the only one that doesn't work for me right now. Thanks in advance. |

dagger I think you'd have to post in the "mouse sluggish" topic, and go from there. Whatever the issue is, its obviously system-based and a different kext may solve it for you.
Mouse out of control after install NVEnabler or iAtkos Install Problem-Mouse is Sketch- No Answers on google?? maybe? srs5694 Did you have the same problem with a different version of SL? i.e. one that you manually installed from Leo 10.5.8? Its hard to say otherwise that its the distro causing this issue or whether your video card is just not (currently) supported. Let me know what comes of it, because I am curious. |
@dagger
Try doing what I had posted on that thread HardRom linked to. http://www.infinitemac.com/f7/mouse-out-of-control-after-install-nvenabler-t5183/post42942.html Boot into Windows, restart, boot into Snow Leopard. |
have u tried lmkantus's solution?
...when it boots -press f8 -then type busratio=20 -press enter? works for me |
Hi there,
I have tried to install this on two Pcs however i am having the same issue on both of the,. I boot up from disc i use -v arch=i386 ,(the other pc was a intel quad core so i didnt use the -v arch=i386) go to disc utility and then partition select 1 partition then put in a partition name make it a mac os extended (cause-sensative, journaled) i then go to options ans make it a guid partition then hit apply. close of disc utils and then select the hard drive to install and of it goes. after about 15-20 mins it comes up install complete with a huge tick.. no errors or anything strange straight forward install. However after it reboots it just sits there at verifying DMI pool data......... it wont even load the OS. It hasent locked up as i can hit ctrl alt delete to reboot. Have i missed a step or done something worng? cheers for the help in adance.. |
I hope someone can help me. I downloaded the snow leopard torrent by hazzard and unzip it with winrar. I then burned the iso image using nero. The size of the iso image is 4,37GB, however when I burn it onto a dvd, I end up with 8 files totaling 192KB in size. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and booted off the dvd i created by burning the snow leopard iso and my maching just kept rebooting. I should mentioned that I tried a few times and that I also changed my bios to "AHCI" with no success.

I should post my specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P 4GB Corsair DDR2 ATI Radeon HD4650 1TB Hitachi Sata drive. I currently have a triple boot: XP (has its own drive) Windows 7 (installed on the Hitachi Drive) Gentoo ( has its own drive) I plan to install Snow Leopard on the Hitachi Drive. I'm using Grub to boot all three Operating systems. |
Anyone? Any suggestions
|
My disc reads at 192KB, but I have successfully booted from it on my dual core system.
Sometimes the distros just dont work for certain systems. i.e. back in the day, iDeneb and (something, cant remember which) would do the same thing... reboot. The only one that worked for me was Leo4all. You may have a similiar issue. Sorry guy. |
Hazard also reboots instantly on my AMD pc. What I did was create two MBR/HFS+ partitions. On the first one I installed iDeneb 10.5.7. From within iDeneb I've installed Hazard onto the second partition. The iDeneb partition is now being used for Windows 7. :)
To start the install in iDeneb, open Terminal and open Volumes/Hazard_install_dvd_name/System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg if I remember correctly. |
Hi guys,
I'm pretty sure this will work on my laptop but.. Intel X4500 driver??? That doesn't even exist... Did anyone tried it on that type of video card? |

Not a chance... you need Mac running to edit an SL distro... |

I've had success with ideneb 10.5.8 lite. You could install ideneb 10.5.8 and then make edits to SL from 10.5.8. I'm having problems with diskutility letting me create a partition, but I suspect that I after I get past that issue, it should install. I will report back. where can i find the hazard client server distro? thanks. |

I just got a gateway sx2802 intel duo core, i had an old dell desktop and it booted the dvds fine, but with the new computer it attempts to boot but then immediatly restarts, im using the hazard dvd which worked fine on old desktop why not the new one?

Maybe someone can help me here. I went ahead and downloaded hazard snow leopard client server 10.6.2 and it booted with no problem. However, I'm running into partition problems. I have a 1TB drive which currently holds windows 7. During the windows 7 installation i allocated 350GB to windows 7 and left the remainder of the drive unallocated. After booting the hazard dvd and when I get to the point of creating a partition to install snow leopard, I cant. If i leave my volume scheme as "current", I cant create a new partition. It's simply grayed out. If I select 1 or 2 or 3 partition, it divides my drive into 1, 2 or 3 partition respectively which makes me feel uneasy since it doesnt recognize my two existing partition for windows 7.
I downloaded gparted and tried creating a partition that route, but gparted did not see the two existing partitions where windows resides. I went ahead and created a separate 250GB partition via storage management in windows 7. I went ahead and booted off the hazard dvd thinking I would be able to select the newly created partition ( which I did not format) and to my surprise it was grayed out. What am I missing? Or will I have to buy a separate drive which will bring my total to 4 which im not too crazy about. |
Quote:
In my opinion its best to use a separate drive but i agree 4 discs is too much in a pc. It got too much and i had 5 drives in one pc. Now I only have 1 windows boot drive in a pc and use the hot swap dock ICY DOCK MB877SK-B Tray-less Alumin, then you manage your drives easily - as many disks as you like, great for backup too. |
