ok so i have finnaly got leopard to work the only part i cant get is my vid card to change resolution or have qe/ci enabled

i have tried several options, Zeph's x1600 install package, MacLovin's x1600 (71c6) install package, Modbin's install package(works fine on my tiger install qe/ci and rez change), and editing the ATIRadeonx1000.kext and other files along with it with my device id. i am getting nowhere with this i would love some help if possible from anyone, this is the last step for me to finnaly use Leopard and drop tiger.

if need be i will try to provide any information needed

There are definately a few reported users getting QE/CI working with some glitches. But I don't think anyone can change resolutions, sorry to say.

odd part is i have gotten to change rez, but then no qe/ci, i have tried the solution that firewalk had posted and got a result of a black screen. i even tried to copy and past my graphics kexts from my working tiger install over to leopard with no luck :-(

Well I did everything (crossed my fingers too) but nope....It doesn't want to work so I bought me an ATI radeon HD2600 pro pcie this morning and guess what, it doesn't work either. Anyone know of a way to get this to work???

I DID!!!! I bought a Point of view 8600GT 512 MB and it didn't work either with 10.5.2 drivers. THEN I asked for a refund and bought the 2600 pro...

The 8600 GT didn't work with Nvinstaller .33

have you patched the graphics update with marvin´s utility?

You need do it, and add the correct id for your card only your id and delete the others. Yesterday i did a fresh install from rev2 in my k8n-sli with, 7600gt and it worked only after it was patched with marvin

yes, you need add the correct id for your graphics into the info.plist for Geforce.kext, NvdaResman.kext, NVDANV50Hal.kext (8600gt):

when you edit the info.plist you´ll see something like this:
you need add your device id and delete the others:
download this for the patches

copy the folder "patches" to the root of your leo drive boot with -s
and type

mount -uw /
cd /patches
./patcher cpuid-graphics.txt

I'm gonna try a new natit.kext by netkas as someone on this forum said might work with the HD 2600 tonight, if that doesn't work I'll try this method and post results tommorrow...

roisoft: I returned my HD 2600 pro and bought a gigabyte 8600gt...IT WORKS OUT OF THE BOX!!!!!!!!!!

only one more tiny little thing. My LCD TV's native res is 1360x768 but it doesn't appear in the display manager. I got as far as 1280x768. Not that I'm complaining ( I love my new Mac) but is there a way to get to that res? Can I use "Graphics Mode"="1360x768x32" at boot prompt or is it gonna cause problems???

Well I have seen this thread which describes my problem as well. I have the saphire Ati x1650Pro AGP. I don't face any problem with the appearence but I can't change the resolution and I can't use the external monitor.

How can I find a working kext for this vga or how can I modify the existing kext in order to have full support of my vga?

first of all did you do the graphics update? if you did i have linked an installer package for dev id 71c6

to check your device id go to about this mac, then more info, then click graphics/displays then look for Device ID should be in this format 0x71c6

Ain't that the truth. Had a Radeon x1600 Pro (0x71C2). Spent a large amount of time trying to get it to work. QE/CI with no Res Change / Mouse Tearing. Res Change with no QE/CI. QE/CI with Res Change but menus solid black. I folded and baught an 8600GTS on the cheap and it worked right away with no work on my part except picking the option in the install. Yep...it's the truth.

well lexattack you are great. it is exactly what I was looking for and worked like a charm. Now I have full support of my card.

off topic: Do you know anything about the "Chain Booting Error" that I get????

no clue about chain booting errors you would have to ask someone else

By the way the card is almost fully supported, since I cann't enable the video out that I send the signal to my TV.
