iATKOS v7 Conflict
I just managed to get the ISO for iATKOS v7 and it seems to work fine!
But when I reach Disk Utility, I dont see anything! I created a 30 partition for NTFS and FAT32 each, but still no luck! :( Then I tried installing it on my external HDD and it detected, so I installed it successfully but once the installation is done and after it restarts, it goes back to the installation screen due to the presence of the boot dvd in my dvd drive. If i remove that it just loads up the regular windows 7. I even changed the boot order and kept my USB Hard drive to first and DVD/CD ROM to 2nd, still it dint boot and it loads Windows 7 OS.:( Any reasons as to why its not loading from the external HD. I know the installation was completed successfully! Is there anything i need to do inorder to boot from external HDD! Thanks a lot! waiting for your reply :):) |
Welcome to InfiniteMac Community.
Before you attempt to install OS X on non-Apple Hardware, I highly recommed you to get some detailed knowlegde about your hardware. The brand is allmost minor important, what you need to know are details like the used chip - like in this case you / we need to know the kind of Southbridge used on your mainboard. To make us able to help you, you ofcourse also need to share this informations with us, I would suggest you to add informations like your CPU, mainboard modell etc to your signature. |

What way is your HD connected? IDE or SATA?
|
Now obviously having it installed on the external wasn't your first choice. If you still have that install on the drive you should be able to boot it.
1. Get the UUID for the install partition on your external. Boot the DVD and go into Disk Utility. You can see your external. Right click your install partition and select information. You should now see a long alphanumeric string Something like: "CC3DCCBD-1CF3-3FEE-8D50-625375FEBF3D". Copy this Unique Identifier to a sheet of paper and shut the computer down. 2. Boot using the UUID Start your machine up with the DVD and type Quote:

What i did was i had an hard drive lying from my old comp, so i jus put it in an enclosure and connected 2 wires. Does that sound like IDE? Enclosure says USB 2.0 |

sorry to bother you but whats UUID? thanks guys :) |
IDE vs SATA: We can help you but you have to also do some leg work yourself. Try google sata vs ide and look for a pictures until you find the answer
UUID: Same as above this information is readily available via google. We are using this ID to tell OSX where to boot from. |

I tried it and it seems to load a few codes for sumtime and it tens to stop at Error - FireWire unable to determine security-mode; defaulting to full-secure Still waiting for root device Still waiting for root device Still waiting for root device and this keeps going on! Is there a problem with my drivers 'customization' part? Should I try with just installing with default drivers? I really want this to work! Thanks a lot |
Before you spend too much time on this I would check to see which graphics chipset you have. You may still be able to boot into OSX but if cant get your graphics chipset to support Quartz Extreme and Core Image Its not going to be a very good experience. Certain application require this to even start up and you will have problems with video.

Through CPU-Z, i found out: *Chipset* Northbridge NVIDIA nForce 560 rev. A2 Southbridge NVIDIA nForce 560 rev. A2 Memory Type DDR2 Memory Size 1024 MBytes Channels Dual Memory Frequency 160.0 MHz (CPU/5) CAS# latency (CL) 5.0 RAS# to CAS# delay (tRCD) 5 RAS# Precharge (tRP) 5 Cycle Time (tRAS) 15 Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 21 Command Rate (CR) 1T is this the right information required? |
Why is Partitioned Drive not showing!
also regarding the partitioned drive, why isnt my drives from laptop being detected?
I even used 'Partition Magic' to create partitions for an HFS+ drive but still no luck! If sum how my drives could be detected, den I could be sure that it would boot up once the installation is complete! I tried making all format drives, HFS+, NTFS and FAT32 but none of them are being detected in disk utility! :( Any thing i could do here to make them appear? |
how could i change my drive from AHCI to Compatibility Mode! Because I read that doing so mite boot the OS from the HDD.
I also read you do it by pressing F2 ---> BIOS --> Advance --> and select AHCI to Compatibility! But wen i press F2, i cant see BIOS screen or anything, I tried everything, f2, f9, f10 but cudnt find BIOS menu! So my question is from where could i change that, because it mite work after this :) Thanks |
I would recommend heading over to hp's website and downloading a copy of your computer's user manual as accessing your bios settings will be useful.

AHCI won't help you with using P-ATA/IDE drives.
I had similiar trouble with using two IDE drives @ one cable on my old nForce 4 based desktop computer, but on a notebook you can't chance allmost anything about that. With using 9.4.0 StageXNU Kernel I had the second / slave IDE device at least showing up sometimes but I never continued to solve this cause my AMD experience was painfull enaugh to move to Intel :D Maybe give this release a try: http://www.infinitemac.com/f36/leo4a...eleased-t1291/ - but be aware - I reckon (haven't looked it up) your chipset is using kind of unsupported 7000M Series GeForce... |

and as you said my chipset isnt suported, but i got it working fine! (Although internet isnt working, and i dint check the sound yet) and about the link, its the older version and the menus have changed rite. So do i download the older version and try installing again? Im slowly losing hope!! :( although i want this to work badlyy! |
Yes trying to install to your internal disk using the suggest old prepatched ISO that's using a different kernel is the only idea I have left.
Just trying to boot your system stored on the external HD using the Kernel i mentioned won't work. |

i was thinking how about booting it with a retail mac osx dvd with boot132 etc. I dont know how its done, but i have seen it sumwhere! Maybe that might detect my internal drive :) thanks again for your time though :) really appereciate it :) |
Where the hell have I been talking about iDeneb?! My Link reffers to the release notes of Leo4All v4.1 which uses the 9.4.0 StageXNU (+ modified nForce drivers) instead of VoodooXNU - which I suggested you to try out as it worked for me in a different but similiar case....

I can not stress enough the lack of usability you will experience if you do not have a support graphics chipset. That would be my focus and if I couldnt find evidence that my graphics were supported I would look at different hardware.
