WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 06:46 AM

Well, its that time again, Zephyroth is UPLOADING his LATEST RELEASE at this very moment. He has preferred NewsGroups as the primary download method. The torrents will start appearing later in the coming hours. If you are experiencing any download problems, concerns that you would like to address, feel free to add them in this discussion. Discuss as you download is the best way to put it. =) Let's all thank Zephyroth again for a wonderful release, and we all can't wait to play with this UPDATE!

NOTE: Zephyroth has preferred the same NewsGroup (alt.binaries.mac.cd-images) I will update periodically as the files come through. Enjoy!

In the following link is a NZB I created for everyone to use to download Zephyroth's new release within their UseNET Client. Way faster than torrent.

Enjoy!

What are those three .par files about?

kisho 03-11-2008 07:27 AM

can anyone tell me what NewsGroup is? Can you also tell me where to download the 10.5.2 Revision 2.
Thanks

dred 03-11-2008 07:28 AM

I wander if he had made some changes to the rar files that had already been uploaded and was just trying to update them.

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 07:48 AM

@kisho, sure the NewsGroup is alt.binaries.mac.cd-images

Follow the procedures below-

PC Users: (I prefer NewsRover, a NewsGroup /UseNET Client)

1 - Download one program called GrabIt at "http://www.shemes.com"
2 - Go to "http://astinews.de/xtest" and put your e-mail there to receive an server username and pass to connect to usenet (it is a free account but will do the job)
3 - Check your e-mail and take note of your Reader, Username and Password that you received from astinews
4 - Install GrabIt and use the infos from astinews to start usenet
5 - Inside GrabIt, go to GrabIt Usenet Search and search for "alt.binaries.mac.cd-images" and add it to your list...
6 - After that, still in GrabIt go to Articles and at the end of the list you'll see the files to download... just right click them and "Grab Selected Articles"

Mac Users: (Use Unison- a NewsGroup / UseNET Client)

1. Download Unison (http://www.panic.com/unison/)
2. Go to "http://astinews.de/xtest" and sign up for a Free Account
3. Check your E-Mail
4. Install Unison and enter the Login information that you received to your E-Mail by Astinews
5. Search for the Newsgroup "alt.binaries.mac.cd-images" and add it
6. Search for the files by zephyroth and start downloading :)

Hope this helps out.

WinLinMac01: just incase the new rev doesn't fix or improve Lan freeze issues do you think you can point me in the right direction to get a wireless option working? I have a D-Link DWL-G520 but couldn't get 10.5.2 to recognize it.

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 07:53 AM

@dred, is this a RT2500 chipset? If it is, then Zephyroth said he included a fix for those wireless devices. Most wireless is intended to be supported now by the updated release according to my understanding. I posted in the first comment, the fixes that are included in this release. Visit mac.kbot.de for updated information (if there is any)

dred 03-11-2008 07:55 AM

I think it is Atheros

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 08:01 AM

@dred, totally different chipset, I would recommend you to convince Zephyroth to include this in his next PPF. If you find any working kexts, provide them to him.

found a couple of resources that may help you:

http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-435094.html

http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t33089.html

http://www.insanelymac.com/lofiversion/index.php/t8829-150.html

I don't know what the exact model of your Atheros chipset, but the resources I provided above may give you an idea.
Working kexts are there as well including a configuration guide, etc. Worth checking out.

dred 03-11-2008 08:03 AM

okay, thanks

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 08:05 AM

@dred, check my edit in the previous comment, found a few resources that may help you.

dred 03-11-2008 08:09 AM

will try installation again using the provided pages. Thanks

bhast2 03-11-2008 08:23 AM

21 more rar files to download
i can't wait

timtux 03-11-2008 12:35 PM

Hi, I'm a rev 1 user at the moment. :-) Works wonderful!

I just have a question, we who are using rev 1 - can we just copy
over the new kexts that we use, like the nvidia kexts ? Don't want
to reinstall but still want the updates ;>

bhast2 03-11-2008 01:46 PM

rar 52 & 54 are incomplete????

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 03:37 PM

Can somebody tell me who is Hussein Abdulali? Is this Zephyroth, or is this another user that is trying to mess everything up? I see zephyroth's name uploaded 20 files, 1007.53 MB, whereas the other user took zephyroth's place and uploaded files 21-58, 1.86 GB uploaded. Clarification would be helpful. Thank you.

Screenshot attached.

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 03:43 PM

Those files are complete actually. However, I'm still trying to figure out previous issue I posted above. I also see another part 58 uploaded by Poncho. Something odd is going on here.

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 03:55 PM

I just received some clarification from zephyroth everyone. Here is what he wrote to me.
Just to be safe,

There are 71 rar files and 9 par files.
The name is the same because I edited the previous ISO and didn't recreate one. (the script to make an EFI ISO was working fine with 10.5.1 but not with 10.5.2)
Don't take care about "ponchorancho" or "Hussein" I'm posting it with [email protected].

Still 19 rar and 8 par to upload.

Good job Zephyroth! =)

ilov3lala 03-11-2008 04:22 PM

good job..waiting for the release...

hope rev 2 can solve my problem.

i manage to install rev1 . all working except lan and audio(conexant hd audio vendor id=14f1, dev id=5045)

farcaller 03-11-2008 04:23 PM

what are the par files?

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 04:26 PM

There are three par files. I think they should extract as you extract the rest of the .rar files.

Quote:

[cite] farcaller:[/cite]what are the par files?

zuz242 03-11-2008 05:46 PM

par files are an addition to the split rar archive.
one can use them for recovery if one rar is corrupt.
if all rar work, no par are needed.

kift 03-11-2008 06:18 PM

someone can give the MD5 checksum or SHA1 checksum of the ISO?

zephyroth 03-11-2008 06:29 PM

MD5 checksum : b0a03ae95cd2b199be9d5463b9251d3c

scottath 03-11-2008 06:39 PM

How big is it? 3gb?

"Hussein" is me. Sorry I thought that uploading worked the same way as torrents. So I tried to upload (share) the first 26 file I had downloaded. I don't know why its showing my name for the other ones from 27 onwards. I don't even have those files yet.

Sorry if I have screwed something up :(

pcgame 03-11-2008 07:09 PM

Sorry, but i don't understand to use newsbin, can everyone tell me how to use it?
I try to use grabit, but is impossible to use!!!

grrrrrrrrr

farcaller 03-11-2008 07:24 PM

how could ISO md5 be wrong if rar unpacked it without any errors?.. :-\

mus1 03-11-2008 08:08 PM

@farcaller
I have the same md5sum and it's working fine for me, just installed it.
Only thing that didn't work is the dualboot-loader. I copied chain0 to C:\ and modified boot.ini.
When I choose MacOSX from the boot-menu I just get a blinking _. But this may also be because of my TrueCrypt-Bootloader.

zephyroth 03-11-2008 08:12 PM

Yes sorry I made a mistake with the MD5 checksum.

For the Windows bootloader, Mac OS and Windows are on the same disk ?

Puttabong 03-11-2008 08:14 PM

What's the correct MD5 Hash? I'd like to spread the valid one on Infinite Mac!

Yes, they are.
C: WindowsXP (10GB, encrypted)
D: MacOSX (20GB)
E: Stuff (900GB, encrypted)

I first type the TrueCrypt-Password to pass the TrueCrypt-Bootloader and then I get to the Windows-Bootloader. If I skip the TrueCrypt-Bootloader with ESC I get "HFS+ partition error" (I guess TC trys to boot it itself).

Everything else works fine, nice work, thx. :)

ilov3lala 03-11-2008 09:21 PM

@ pcgame

yes you can do it

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 09:41 PM

Well, now we all know...megaargon is WinLinMac01. Whats up all? Yes, I did not leave this project for good. It is my goal to give as much feedback as possible and make future releases a success. =)

Puttabong 03-11-2008 09:42 PM

megaargon, which nick do you prefer?

This one or WinLinMac01?

I can switch it back if you like.

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 10:19 PM

Thanks for asking. I would prefer WinLinMac01 please. =) Truly appreciate that.
Question: The posts that I previously put from megaargon. Have those been deleted? Or they still exist?

Good points:
- my GFGo7600 works in native resolution out of the box
Bad points:
- QE does not work :'(
- permissions on ext2fs kext are wrong
- killed GRUB in MBR (or that was rev1 bug in fact, preventing it from modifying MBR?..)

Thanks for good work though, if I could only get my QE back.....

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 10:31 PM

Is QE working for everyone? Or just certain people?

steven7 03-11-2008 10:36 PM

zephyroth do u know if the Kernel Panic fixed as 10.5.2 revision 1 did not work for me it keep restarting at the kernel tryed cpus=1

Could someone pleeeaaaase upload part 3 for me somewhere?
I'm unable to download it (Article not found) and that's the only file i need to extract the iso :)
Thank youuu!

Btw is zephyroth still uploading?

WinLinMac01 03-11-2008 10:56 PM

I can't find the 9 parts. May have to check on Unison instead.

mus1 03-11-2008 11:25 PM

I have one strange bug:
Finder->Go To -> Connect to Server... doesn't work at all, no matter what I type in, it always says the URL would be invalid. I also cannot connect to smb-shares: "connection failed".
I guess these bugs may be related.
