If you are experiencing errors/problems with Zephyroth's latest, 10.5.2 Revision 2, post those errors here to ease Zephyroth's next development of his upcoming Patch (in a couple of weeks). He can visit this discussion to follow-up and add any necessary updates/fixes to his next PPF release without having to scrimmage through all of the forum discussions.

This is a Post Installation Category for Zephyroth's Leopard Mac OS X AMD 10.5.2 Revision 2 Release.

Already mentioned it in the other Thread:
Finder -> Go -> "Connect to Server..." doesn't work at all, no matter what I type, it always says that the URL would be invalid.
I also cannot connect to smb-shares. When I click on a share it says "Connection failed".
Everything else works fine so far. The NTFS-driver is working fine as well.

fix permissions on ext2fs kext

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 02:26 AM

How did you obtain the release already when the 9 .par files have not been fully uploaded yet? Please explain, thank you. =)

you dont need the par files, they are just for checking the rar files. I you have all 71 rars, you should be able to extract them, if not, then one of them is broken.

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 02:39 AM

thank you clarifying that. That means I should be able to have a full release. Hooray, thanks. =) so I can go ahead and simply delete all of the .par files if the extraction process is a success, right?

Hi all,
first of all thanks for the very good work.
Just a simple question, is it possible to update from a running rev.1 to rev.2 without deleting all the indivual stuff which is already there?

Thanks

Raldo 03-12-2008 02:43 AM

support for ext3 is a project of zephyroth or is ext2fsx? Because project stopped in 2006, and there are many different danger for fs using that drivers!

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 02:46 AM

Unfortunately there is no way to update, you can only do a clean installation if that's the case. If you need the 10.5.2 update for your AMD system try to run eddie11c's update listed in another discussion thread.

Maybe you understand me wrong, i have got already the zephyroth 10.5.2 revision 1! running on a AMD system.
Now, cause i downloaded revision 2!, i want to install this, especially because of Sata support for my Plextor Burner.
Is this update possible?

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 03:06 AM

The simple answer is no, you would have to backup your existing data and perform a clean install.

is there a guide to install Rev.2 from nothing, for newbies that have never done this before (well, correctly hehe)?

I just hope my mobo is supported! (ASUS K8VSE-Deluxe, NB VIA K8T800, SB VIA VT8237)
Thanks for the hardwork!

NUCLEaR 03-12-2008 03:29 AM

I'm getting a chain booting error after adding a chain0 file to bcdedit in Vista.

MacDrive shows Leo installed fine on another partition.

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 03:31 AM

You can use the same guide that was designed for 10.5.1 Revision 1 you know. Practically the installation/configuration process is the same thing with similar (identical) procedures.

Well... my problem is that I found some... Not sure which one is THE one. And I'm kind of trying to figure out what is EFI and GUID (or do I need it).. But I suppose I'm not posting in the correct thread. Thanks for answering WinLinMac01!

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 03:52 AM

Don't worry, you are posting in the right thread, but if this is a problem that concerns you the most, I would suggest you to make a new thread/discussion thread. =)

Follow some of the guides listed here--> http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=hackintosh+install

Although they are not written solely for the AMD architecture, those videos (at least some of them) should give you an idea where you have to go. Very easy. Don't hesitate to at least give it a try. =)

i have download 1 to 71 rar and there is no 62 to 65 rar in rev2 why?

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 04:04 AM

In the following link is a NZB I created for everyone to use to download Zephyroth's new release within their UseNET Client. Way faster than torrent.

http://rapidshare.com/files/98823774/1205276199.nzb.html

Try the NZB I created above, and restart the download process. Won't take long. Includes Part's 1-71, Official Zephyroth ONLY. =) Enjoy!

I have installed Rev. 2 on my computer.
The Windows dual-boot option doesn't work probably because it was meant for XP computers while I have Vista.

So I went ahead, downloaded chain0 and put it in Vista's root directory.
Then I added Mac OS X to the Vista bootloader through \chain0.
I restarted, chose Mac OS X, and it gave a "Chain booting error."

I have tried out both kernels, and neither fix the problem.

My specs:
AMD Athlon X2 3200+
nForce 430 (works)
230GB SATA Seagate Barracuda (works)

slee202 03-12-2008 05:32 AM

I have not tried this and may well have it wrong but.
chain0 precedes efi, I believe you might want to try using the boot0 from the standalone/i386 directory of the install CD.
Please let us know what works.

Thanx
Steve

Can you upload that file?

I have trouble accessing the .iso with macdrive, since it conflicts with the driver that makes Daemon tools work.

I cant seem to install on my MSI EX610 notebook which uses an ATI sb600 chipset / ATA+SATA controller. It hangs at waiting for boot device and i have no clue how to add the kext (which seems to be avaible?) to my ISO using linux or windows.

Also i can't seem to install on my old AMD64 3200+ which also uses some ancient Ati Chipset. In this machine I use IDE Devices only since it cant find sata devices but i get the SAM Multimedia error, no matter how i burn it or where i burn it on.

Any help for either one of these cases would be appriciated.

slee202 03-12-2008 07:42 AM

Here is a rar of all the files in /boot from windows accessible side of the 10.5.2 Rev 1 iso. Sorry but at this time that is the best I can do.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=07J1C0BG
Good luck.

Duh, here I am talking about multibooting with Vista and I forgot to mention the easy way.
Go get easybcd from Neo Smart.

I've tried boot0, chain0, boot1h, and boot1u. Nothing works, just gives out partition not found or chain errors.

Setting Leo as primary partition makes a missing OS error.

strange ... I don't have these errors...

Was your installation successful or were there any errors that you noticed throughout verbose mode? Can you post those errors like with a screenshot or something?

hi there,

i canīt use my USB-Mouse and USB-Keyboard (both Logitech) , so im not able to install this release. in 10.5.1. USB Support worked, but my SATA Cotnroller (VIA) wasnīt reconized,
Is there any solution?

Keyboard: Logitech G11
Mouse: Logitech MX 600

both working with the 10.5.1 release, but in 10.5.2 rev1 oder rev2 they donīt ;(

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 03:37 PM

Did you try applying the same .kext that was used on rev.1 on rev.2? Try that and see what happens. The kext should be on your DVD directory (installation source), don't know the exact name though. =)

i dont know how to apply .kexct files to an installtion dvd, is there any how-to or tool that i can use for ?!
the file you mean could be usbiofamily.kext ;)

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 03:44 PM

If that is the one, copy that kext file into your desktop on Revision 2, and use Kext Helper to help patch that extension in. If all goes fine, the Utility will ask you to reboot your system and keep your fingers crossed. =) Most likely, in every scenario, installing kexts work for me.

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 03:49 PM

Yes, you should be able inject this kext before you get to the welcome screen. If not, try replacing the rev.2 usb package with the one included in rev.1 and repatch the DVD (since you said in your first post, that the USB Mouse and Keyboard combo worked with rev.1, right, "...i canīt use my USB-Mouse and USB-Keyboard (both Logitech) , so im not able to install this release. in 10.5.1. USB Support worked...")

thatīs my idea, the only problem that i have is, where can i get a the bootsector

or i will boot from the original release change the dvd and install from the patched one
if this works for me i will give you feedback

roisoft 03-12-2008 03:55 PM

@standard, if your 10.5.1 works fine, then you only need the 10.5.2 update by eddie, you donīt need a clean install.

@WinLinMac01 , If some people want the support for Sata DVD, why are you saying they need a clean install? itīs not necessary , please think about the answers ok? they only need the new AppleNforceAta.kext not a clean install.

standard 03-12-2008 03:58 PM

@roisoft where can i get this update (i hope its a PPF file for easy patching,
cause of missing VIA driver in 10.5.1, i am not able to install this release, cause my hddīs
areßnt recognized ;(

WinLinMac01 03-12-2008 04:00 PM

I didn't realize about the support I gave for the SATA DVD (should have proofread). Yes, they only need the new AppleNforceATA, by Medevil.
How is going to do the 10.5.2 update when his combo does not work? If thats the case, he should rather stick with the 10.5.1 release, and then upload manually from there using eddie11c's update. =)

Not exactly, its not a PPF. Instead its a standard installer available at http://osx.kbot.de/comments.php?DiscussionID=300&page=1
for discussion purposes only. Unfortunately, at the time being, the link is broken, and should be repaired soon.

the update is a pkg and only works if you have a working 10.5.1, but if you want inject a kext into the ISO go (if you have a tiger or leo install) here if you are in windows, download transmac open the iso and inject your kext.

edit: you can try enable only USB 1.1 and disable 2.0 or plug your device after install dvd boot
